That is funny. Dude I struggled with this truss rod thing for ever....because of perspective...then that guy sent me that question about his perspective and I thought....so I am not the only idiot out there. Thanks for the comment my friend.
Saved. Right now I gota G on dano that has some weird buzzing / rattle bridge and nut. The D seems better on the Player tele since i used some knife oil as a nut sauce. I'm sure at some point I will need to adjust the truss rod. I don't wanna, don't wanan screw it up.
The good thing is you really can't screw it up. Just turn the truss in 1/4 increments and keep track of out many turns. If you don't like it turn it back the same amount and it will go right back. Usually if it is just one string then it is a nut or bridge issue. Not a truss issue.
so now the kicker if the truss rod adjustment is at the body side is it the same since you have to turn your Allen key around the other way Lmao I know I know lol now I'm just confusing people
It's the same principle. Looking at the nut you tighten to straighten the neck. And yes it is confusing as crazy. I have guitar with nuts on both side and it took me forever to keep it straight in my head.
Hello sir, super helpful video. I'm the guy who asked you about the signature AZ ibanez under a previous post. I ended up getting an AZ2204 which is kinda similar. Thing is the compound radius is listed as 228 to 305mm , and has no guides online for truss rod adj.read that they can take less (.008 or sth) It has no relief although it has no problems in terms of fret buzz . Gonna change the strings and give it a tiny relief . Will report back for anyone interested.
I remember your post about the guitar. The2204 is a great guitar. Glad you got one. Does that have a compound radius? I though they were 12? But I could be wrong. If you are not having any issues I would not add relief. I try to get my necks as straight as I can.
@@TraceTaylor3 Thank you! So far I'm loving it. Yes , you're right, I changed the strings, added a bit, but had to retrace my steps becuz the action had to be raised. I'm very happy with the sound and feel, exactly as it was before.maybe the result of a compound radius with a great neck and fret work,i presume? A very nice guitar as you told me . off topic question but if im just starting out to work on my own guitars, is this worth doing on more expensive stuff like 1000-2000 range? I just bought a guitar cory wong strat in that range and am wondering if a guitar with fender factory set up would need a set up done professionally or if I should be okay to do it as long as it doesn't need anything serious? LIke I had tried to set up a schecter tempest I have but the first three frets kept buzzing and when i checked they were uneveen so I sent it off to a guitar tech. It was kinda hard to let my guitar go to someone that I have no experience with beyond seeing reviews haha. I dont think I could do this with the more expensive one which might need at least an inspection since it is a special buy from that franklin guitar works place so it was probably a return to fender. although it does say it is mint/clean and ready to go. Honestly I felt better about owning a cheap guitar XD
I get that. I have a J Custom that was 3k and flawless. Hard to start putting tools to your new guitars.....but you have to. Even guitars that I get from Sweetwater with their 1 million point inspection....l still need to set it up when I get it. They do all around setups and that might not be your thing. For instance....My RG 1130 I have the tiniest bit more height on the strings for a touch more sustain, but my J Custom I have lower....not as much sustain but a bit faster....especially for legato work. I would set up your new one. You really can't hurt them. Just make note of what you do so that if you don't like it, it can set it right back.
