When Alien Students Discovered Why Earth Is Called a Deathworld | HFY | SCI FI Short Stories
In this engaging science fiction story, we follow Instructor Sabal as he takes his class of alien students from across the galaxy on a field trip to the quarantined "deathworld" of Earth.
His students have studied Earth's biodiversity, but nothing can prepare them for the primal savagery they are about to witness firsthand. From vicious wolverines that attack grizzly bears, to freezing snow storms, great white sharks, vampire bats, and more - the off-world pupils get a crash course in why Earth earned its ominous reputation among spacefaring societies.
The real eye-opener comes when human student Julie gives a shocking presentation on the myriad lethal dangers that allowed humanity to conquer and dominate their homeworld. Her graphic videos of bears, wolves, sharks, and other fearsome predators leave her alien classmates terrified.
But in the end, Julie's brutal honesty and ability to survive on such a hostile planet amazes her peers. What seemed strange and scary at first becomes a point of respect as the other students flock to learn more about Earth's "deathworld" environments and fierce creatures.
This creative sci-fi tale is both entertaining and thought-provoking, offering a unique perspective on taking Earth's deadlier aspects for granted. With plenty of surprising reveals, intense moments, and an uplifting message about overcoming prejudices, it's a must-watch story for any fan of speculative fiction.

Me? I'd be like, Let me show you a video, then show a video of me holding my phone and taking a selfie video. At first, you'd wonder, what is this? He's just lying in bed. But what is that black mass? That's a funny-looking pillow. Then Aldan, my black cat who likes to sleep on my head at night would perk up his head, stare at the camera with his yellow eyes, and then sneeze blowing snot everywhere because he has a chronic illness. I'd go, "He's sick all the time, because he's 19 years old, but he still can jump and play. Okay, sometimes in the night when I roll over he claws my head when my hair moves in a way that seems like prey, and YES, he makes a TON of snot that he blows everywhere when he sneezes, but he is also completely boneless! He can squeeze into any tiny space and is practically Vanta black from end to end. His fur SWALLOWS UP LIGHT ITSELF so he could be hiding ANYWHERE. Life is NEVER BORING with Aldin around. I should note, I really doubt he's contagious. I mean, in all the years he's been blowing snot on me, I never got sick." Then pause before adding, "In fact, I brought him with me. He's in this cage! Let me show you how nice he is!" Except I would have brought an empty cage and acted really surprised he was missing.

There are theories to the fact humans pack-bonded with wolves gave humans the egde against the much stronger neatherthals in Europe and hunt them into extinction. There are "deathworlds," and then there are _DEATHWORLDS._ Julie could have terrorized everyone even more by adding that not only are humans the most dangerous lifeforms on her homeworld but their style of hunting is "pursuit predation" - humans simply pursue their prey at a brisk walking pace, non-stop, _until it dies of exhaustion._ By comparison with the rest of terran life generally, humans have _obscene and unholy_ amounts of stamina.

And humans are the top predator on that world. Shenanigans ensue.

As they're traveling through the Galaxy they finally reach a place where they come across another species that's wary of them but also welcoming until they find out where the humans came from and before they leave they tell them that the area the humans came from is basically a dead zone because only the most insane and fearsome creatures can survive in that area of space. So 1st presentation shows the equivalent of a small wild cat, or a really feral street cat. 2nd shows.... a finger breaker? So not even the equivalent of a macaw , those can break wrists.

Aliens: “We have 4 major predator species on my planet. And they can harm you if you get close.” Humans: “Dude, that’s just a cat. I’ve got four in my house. Bears a much scarier. And we have, somewhere around a couple thousand predator species?” Alien: “How have you survived??!” Humans: “Oh. Umm. We thought they tasted yummy. Or fun to hunt.”

The most dangerous creature on earth is humans in CO - OPERATIVE groups. Each of us totally alone against mother nature would not do so well. One primitive hunter cannot take on a bear , a group of five primitive hunters working together can kill the bear. It is not that we are each particularly dangerous , but in groups working together we are deadly.

everyone in the comments saying "Australia!" I invite them to come to America. I mean y'all did lose a war to over stuffed birds (emus) (twice) 4 species of bears, each larger than the last killer bees a few variations of scorpians a few variations of tarrantulas several venomous snake species that use hemo toxins and several that use neurotoxins brown recluses black widows of course the north american wolverines mountain lions (cougars and not the milf kind) Jaguarundi Bobcats several wolf species coyotes Cow Killer ants (aka red velvet ants) only takes one to actually kill a cow. Crocodiles, Alligators Gila Monsters Anacondas and other constrictors American Bald eagles which are known to lift mountain goats and throw them down mountains. this is just what I can think of off the top of my head
@OddlyIncredible
@OddlyIncredible 3 месяца назад
Yeah, people from not-America often don't realize that the country has a lot of very serious predators, and a good selection of megafauna, with both categories slightly overlapping for that extra bit of oh-shit.
