Loved your review and how proud and loud you proclaim your love for this movie. Subscribed! So tired of the nitpicking on Avatar’s story and characters, often by people who see no issues watching same superhero journey for multiple time.
There were about three moments in the film that looked janky. Not bad for a 3 hour film. I dont remember them enough to describe each moment. But there are a few janky looking moments.
Can you imagine all the pressure and expectations regarding everything around this movie. Years in making, planning, people involved, and James Cameron’s IMAGINATION
This is gonna be one of those franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars that are long as fuck, but they're so good that people can't help but watch them start to finish over and over again anyway.
The immersion of the world and the incredible 3D cinematography made it a true experience, but the story and characters made it something special. I actually cried
@@user-zg5ey5xo9i not only are Marvel characters generic as hell, they're also nothing new. They've all been in comics/animated series/other movie adaptations before. And yet, somehow, there are still people out here who say Avatar is generic, but s*it themselves over Endgame. Like bruh...if you don't like Avatar just say it. Literally 90% of reasons they're giving for why it's bad were either explained in the movies, or don't make any sense at all.
@@user-zg5ey5xo9i what are you talking about. marvel characters actually have internal struggles and character arcs. the characters in avatar are so generic, they literally are hollow shells and it completely ruins the movies for me.
that hand wrapping of the water animal is just insane water animation and interaction, it felt like "where is that seaside located? i want to go there."
I loved every movie James Cameron has made and I’ve rewatched all his movies at least 5 times. Aliens is my absolute favorite and The Abyss is highly underrated.
YESSSSSS fellow The Abyss Stanners!!! It was the film that showed Cameron's quality as an innovative filmmaker. Those underwater sequences. Even the visual effects, late 80s VFX that wasn't crappy.
I even enjoyed Cameron's low budget B movie Piranha II. Xenogenesis is the only one I haven' seen (yet). Abyss effects were very groundbreaking for their day but IMO of all his movies Abyss is by far Cameron's best example of storytelling. It's a great love story with undertones warning against extreme nationalism wrapped up in a sci-fi epic.
@@iampancak3 yeah. I tried my best to not expect much narrative-wise going in so I wouldn’t get burned by the disappointment. Watching it as a “what if” kind of movie brought home the goods
@@iampancak3 I didn’t see anything wrong with the plot and they have said Avatar 2 and 3 make up a greater plot. Meaning questions from 2 would be answered in 3.
I wasn't expecting to like this movie, but I saw it last night and left crying. It emotionally captivated me. And I haven't stopped thinking about the world they created since.
I agree 100%. This movie was incredible! Me and my GF enjoyed every second of it. We laughed, cried, were shocked at times, in awe of the world and just taken away to Pandora. It was so visceral and real and I loved the traditional family ideals and the dynamics between Jake being a father too. It was such a good movie! 10/10!
@@mrbeyonder6081 Yes! It happens even to this 64 year-old male! Being able to feel and express sentiments is helping making the experience that much more wonderful! It also applies in real life!
This reminded me what movies were to me when I first saw them-a pure spectacle that takes you into another world as creatively as possible and provides a cerebral experience in the best way possible.
I got teary eyed for sure. Even from the trailer when she says “mighty” that hit. Just told me they put their hearts in souls into this and wanted it to be special.
He was also taking his time to build the whole story. Ultimately it was a very basic plot with some big holes in the story at the end. But the difference was that the simply took his time to show us the beauty of Pandora which was one of the main film characters. In the end it wasn't about saving Jack and his family but about saving Pandora's nature. I really liked the film.
It was 2009 I reckon, even though that first one was different for being unexpected, even with the build up. This one had an element of knowing it would look awesome.
Only thing good was the visuals all else was the usual troupe so nothing to write home about in that dept considering this has some really good things but still falls incredibly behind like the original in story and plot
A movie isn't good just cause it's pretty to look at. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a gorgeous movie and you can watch it multiple times without the BIG theatrics
@@leont7956 the script could definitely be better, but the story was good. going into avatar I don't expect a mind blowing story but this movie reinforced the colonization and environment friendly aspects of the first movie in a better way. The scope and scale of the movie was insane, the family was great, and action set pieces were grand. I have criticisms but this movie made people feel good which is all you can ask for
@@leont7956 How much do they REALLY tho? People gobble up Marvel movies and they all have the same of like two different plotlines. Its either a good guy with firm morals or a good guy with questionable morals. Either way, he's gonna face a bad guy, there will be struggles in the middle, but then the good guys prevails because friendship/love/family/teamwork/etc. Not too many of the truly great movies have an outstanding complicated story. A lot of them were just delivered incredibly well to make us, the viewer, feel some type of way about an already well broken in tale.
haven’t watched the video yet, just looked at the comments. but damn. It is such a relief to be in a place on the Internet where people appreciate this movie. It’s crazy to hear from my aunts and coworkers and random people I meet at parties how much they loved a film, but watch people on Twitter and Reddit call it trash. Good to know there are some other folks with Internet access to enjoyed it. Brought me to tears and I can’t wait to go back again. 💙
To tell you how good the cgi was, I didn’t think that there was anything real (practically made) in the film (although it was still incredible). Imagine my surprise when I learned the boat set for the end of the film was real. It made me rethink THE ENTIRE MOVIE because I realized that I actually didn’t know what was real or not!! It was mind blowing.
It was truly one of the best theatre experiences of my life, the movie had a big heart, people are saying it was stretched out but the middle hour is purposely made to let you understand the characters and the world, to let you truly take yourself to Pandora and the water.
there's nothing to understand. the characters have no depth so the entire 2nd act was garbage because I don't connect with these 1 dimensional characters and by the 3rd act I just want it to be over already.
@@Polymind it's a fact not an opinion. there was genuinely just no depth within the characters. what were their motivations? don't know. what were their internal struggles? who knows. it really has wonderful world building and is well produced but the writing is god awful and inconsistent
@@iampancak3 their motivations were perfectly clear, jake and Neyitri wanted to save their children, and as parents that would be the first thing they would do. The children wanted to fit in with the sea tribe people. Quaritch wanted to kill the person who killed him. Makes perfect sense.
@@Polymind Jake is a little inconsistent from the first movie but other than that I agree with you about the parents, but the movie focuses on the kids which is insufferable to watch because they're so generic. "they want to fit in" is that all there is to their characters? what about internal struggles and personality. they lack so much which makes the movie so dry. the villain is also generic and boring. he wants revenge which doesn't make sense from the movie because it was clear that their intention was to colonize the planet so why's he wasting his time going after this one person who previously killed him. it's just boring and generic and most of the reasons its so popular is because of the stunning camera work and impressive cgi
first time watched it in 4DX. crazy how realistic it was when an arrow went through my abdomen. it’s a spectacular film. will be rewatching again in IMAX HFR
It’s very impressive how much the visuals have improved. It never came across my mind that the characters were cgi. Usually you’ll see very good cgi but you brain is like “that’s still cgi.” I never really felt the way in the film because they were that realistic. I understand they’re are lots of flaws with the movie but I still loved it.
Avatar was clearly JC's childhood fantasy world that he planted all his action figures into. And you can feel that when you watch it. Despite all the shortcomings it's so good.
Cameron gifted us with many memorable and emotional scenes and characters. The heart-stopping scene in The Abyss is absolutely gripping. Payakan is a beautiful creation with heartfelt vocals and whistles
I could list so many things that I didn't like about this movie, and yet it was probably the best cinema experience I've ever had. It made me crave to see and experience more of this world and this story in a way that I usually only get after finishing a long videogame like the witcher 3, or a book series, or a long TV-show. It might just be wishful thinking, but I feel like James Cameron has ended the "Superhero Phase" of cinema with this movie.
I have a similar experience to you when I watch movies, but half my brain is focused on how the story is structured and written. For this entire movie half of me was going "Oh right, they set this up earlier" and "this mirrors Jake's journey in the first movie!" or "this has GOT to be setting up something lter!" It really is masterfully written. I think part of what helps is its pure length, the story has time to breathe and we get to know all the important characters naturally and easily. Sure it starts with bit of an exposition dump but with the time between the first and second film, in both real life and setting, I don't mind the exposition dump getting us back in the swing of things, especilly since it also mirrors the exposition the first movie began with.
I saw it in 4DX + high frame rate today and when I came home I immediately bought tickets to see it again. I’ve never seen anything like this movie in my life. The entire time watching it I was just in shock and awe that it’s possible to make movies that look like this now. If you have a theater that can play the movie in 4DX near you, you absolutely have to experience it that way.
The high framerate was so good. Completely forgot most movies judder that gives me headaches. The only issue I had was the 3D, it made things a tad blurry, but that could be me. Saw it in IMAX 3D.
I think it’s incredible how this channel grew from a tech review channel to a movie analysis channel. How it gained so much subscribers in such a little time. Underrated channel I think.
If they feel this film doesn't make enough they could make a 1hr tour of Pandora nature film, no actors and not even a need of a voice over, just a camera floating through the various settings.
Just got home from the film and you explained it real well. The whole movie I wasn't pulled out of the movie by the effects but instead I had to purposely pull myself out and realize that these are 100% cg characters and environments. The advance physics, the textures, lighting, and motion capture made the characters real to my eyes, but my mind had to keep telling myself that it isn't real. I don't know if the HFR or 4k 3d helped with that but the movies effects just looked beyond real, not uncanny but just plain real. Only a handful of shots made me feel like I was watching cg characters, the rest made me question reality. And the way he blended live action with cg in the few scenes was the best I've seen. The closest movie to that feeling I had was Avatar 1 and Avengers IW & Endgame (with select characters and sequences.) I went in expecting not to get blown away but I was definitely blown away. I thought we reached the limits of cg but seems like we weren't even close. Only complaint I had was the generic soundtrack besides the og soundtrack that played some throughout.
Unfortunately James Horner is not anymore with us 😢 The soundtrack has been a compilation of the pieces from the previous film, a sketches that he made before leaving this realm and several custom works. It was done though by the guy who did mixing during the previous production, so it continues the Horner's legacy and the stylistic of the Pandora world. I think A3 will be even more challenging in this matter. Let's hope for the best.
With the first Avatar being my favorite (correction, now SECOND favorite movie), I'm so encouraged to see big names like you and the general populace embracing this movie after 13 years of lukewarm-at-best reviews of the first one. I hope this ushers in a new era of phenomenal fantasy and sci-fi films outside of the mainstream Disney franchises.
I can’t imagine watching this movie any way but IMAX 3D. The effects were so dazzling and immersive I was getting emotional just from the imagery alone. Within the first 30 seconds of the movie starting I knew I was gonna be satisfied even if the story was mediocre. But the story and characters were great so it was the complete package for me.
Phenomenal movie, it is very special, the na'vi and Jake sully's family felt real and it was very heartwarming and also emotional at times.....cant wait to watch avatar 3 when im 80
You can just enjoy this movie without thinking. It's a fun experience. A little detail: in a scene where a character is looking into a mirror, it's shot at an angle so you can't see the camera reflected in that mirror. Like every other similar shot in the history of TV and movies. Yet the whole thing is computer generated, so they could have done whatever angles they wanted.
i love that avatar takes itself seriously and doesn't need to be funny or wink at the camera every minute to let the audience know "oh yeah, we know giant blue cat people are kinda ridiculous"
Well I clearly wasn't expecting what I've seen. Basically there are no words to describe it, it must be experienced as intended. And it was so much more emotionally draining than the first one. Even the sound is tremendous sometimes, and everything comes together to make a true Cameron's masterpiece.
I’m glad to hear it. I finally made it though the first one and I’ve gotta admit it was a slough to get though. I cared for none of the characters, the dialogue was lifted straight off of a hippie’s bumper sticker, and the was exactly ZERO reason for the movie to be so long. I’m glad to hear this one seems to have an actual story.
*SPOILERS* Whilst I agree, the film was visually the best ive ever seen, but i feel like it was a 3 hour showcase of this new technology and the script was completely sidelined. It had many problems that i couldnt look past and that ruined the experience for me. Bad guy was bad just because in the last film, he died and was brought back to be bad guy just because again? Did the sky people completely forget about the unobtainium or are now looking to inhabit the planet? or are they there because of this new stuff inside the whales? The overuse of 'Bro' was absolutely grinding. Spider did nothing but politely ask bad guy to stop a few times and for him to save him at the end was a baffling choice for me. I could go on but Ultimately, everything that happened in the film made no difference, they are in exactly the same situation as the start. Visuals can not make a movie great alone, script should be a priority but unfortunately for me it seemed like an afterthought.
This is how I felt about the first movie. Total opposite feeling with this one. Good character motivations, a clear narrative, and a heart that makes you care about each character. I don’t need every movie to be TENET.
@Patrick Tomasso I guess films are never going to appeal to everyone. My friend that I watched it with really enjoyed it and its important to remember, this is the start of a trilogy! I will still be watching the next one
I feel exactly the same. Nothing happened. Bad guy is back and isn't dead. Good guys want to keep fighting... Just like they had been doing before leaving the forest, only now they have a family. Back to where it all started. It's unfortunate too that they really tried to give every member of the family a different set of strengths and weakness, only to skip over every interesting detail. The bad guys also didn't feel fleshed out at all. Humans are on the brink of extinction but who cares, this reborn general will hunt a single Na'vi for revenge, even though he explicitly said he isn't the same person. Like ugh is that all there is to the plot?
I saw it in the theatre as well, and it did not disappoint. Avatar 2, as you said, is an amazing achievement, and just an amazing immersive movie going experience. You were absolutely right about the feelings this movie brings up, it really does transport you to another world, which is all we ask from the movies, takes us somewhere and tell us a good story.
What a fantastic retrospective on Cameron's previous triumphs. Comparing Avatar 2 to Aliens was a stroke of genius. The two have a great deal in common, as far as their narrative growth. 👏
Was this the first movie you've ever seen? If THIS was your best experience either you have really bad taste or you've not seen much. I'm guessing you liked The Last Jedi too.
@@will_of_europa As a French cinema goer, I have seen all the "intellectual" films with smart dialogues I need to see, and don't care the least bit for any Marvel production, or similar. Before the original Avatar came out, my favorite film was "Out of Africa" (BTW, what is yours?)... then Abyss and Titanic... JC already! But with the two Avatars, Cameron is making us live through a mind- and sentiment-blowing experience, not "watch a movie" (!), with an insane level of masterhood. BTW, your comment was distasteful and uselessly mean to Jacob!
The holy shit moments for me were the evening/night time scenes where the character was silhouetted. Of course some water scenes were nuts, especially the light diffraction and the surface looks when you're underwater. If you have been in under water in clear waters, looked up, you'd see it's about perfect.
I've seen this movie 3 times on theaters right now. But I want to go again. I love it. Edit: Now 4 times. Still love it. Going to see again on Imax next month.
I’ve seen it 3 times so far at my imax that has GT laser (dual laser projection). If possible, see if you can find a Dolby Cinema experience near you. Make sure it is a 1.85 aspect ratio and not a 2.39, you’re gonna have to do your research. The IMAX subreddit has resources to find if cinemas near you have aspect ratios and projectors. A thing about Dolby cinema vs imax GT dual laser, is that they are functionally both the same with dual laser systems but IMAX dual laser can not run both 4k quality and HFR at the same time, and you can notice the switch in frame rate. They increase the frame rate but lower the resolution to 2k. Dolby cinema can run both 4k and HFR. Also supposedly their audio system is neat to experience since it is surround sound with some 50+ speakers vs IMAX’s high quality 12 channel speakers (if your theater features them). Happy watching. The nearest Dolby cinema near me is 2 hours but hopefully it’s 1.85 aspect ratio.
I could hardly keep myself from smiling for the first hour or so where everything is being set up but it held my attention throughout like no movie really does. I can say that I enjoyed my first viewing of this movie more than the first one, but I'm less certain if the story is superior overall. The climax doesn't replicate the same scale; it's more open ended and therefore has less impact than the first; in the original, humanity is driven from Pandora entirely whereas here Jake has only managed to wipe out some whalers. On that basis alone and because of the shift away from a romance story, most people will probably say the first movie has a better story but I expect I will like the second movie better personally. This movie leans far more heavily on being part of a series rather then something self-contained; if no more Avatar movies ever came out, Avatar one would have felt like a complete story whereas Way of Water sets up a bunch of things, leaves a few things that might be considered loose ends from the first movie -- Norm isn't in it much -- and so in the long run I think the merits of this movie will stand or fall based on where Avatars three and four go. So in short, I think this movie is superior to the first in pretty much every way, but this is less apparent because it doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's very much a bridge; a way that is counting on the movies it comes before and after.
I fully agree with you! the original Avatar was a self-contained movie, because no sequel was then planned. Avatar the WoW is indeed a "passerelle" movie. Many criticized holes in the plot are in fact open doors. And, despite those constraints, Cameron still managed to create a masterpiece of an experience!
I find the Avarar craze a little scary. That desire to not leave the cinema, to escape this world into pandora. It's as if reality is so shitty that you can't help but run away from it. I think people who have such urges need to reassess their lives and what's making them so scary in the first place.
this is why I love movies and media, personally hated the story and thought it was painful, however the visuals were just breathtaking enough to make me not hate the experience, but opinions are so different its so intresting
You made a beautiful video but I think Avatar 2 is an average as a film. A breathtaking visual achievement. It still feels like a vacuous video game and hums its emptiness. Even if the film took 13 years to make, it seems like the script was wrapped in 13 days.
if standards of modern filmmaking have degraded to that of shooting nature scenery for tv in shopping mall or CGI graphic oriented college art project, then sure enough disney star wars and avatar 2 merit the title "best films of the century"
Everything that you said about the visual experience is true... I, too, pick films apart as I watch them. But with this one.... I was just consumed by the story and world. So much so that I also forgot it wasn't real and by the time I was being driven home, I was just staring in shock at the barren grey and brown Canadian winter feeling like *that* wasn't real. Utter insanity, I look forward to our next journey on Pandora!!!
It’s funny cause he was a truck driver and just had a really strong desire to learn how to make movies himself and photocopied shit from the library to learn on his own.
It's not cool to bash it. It's story is objectively shit. Instead of evading reality, have some pride in what you like. I love the star wars prequels but that doesn't make them good. This movie was nothing but a bad fanfic given a large budget.
@@will_of_europa Oh shut up Will 😂 I have got pride and it is cool to bash it. I like this, just like you like the Star Wars prequels and won’t bash them. Get in the bin you soft fart
@@will_of_europa You again, with useless and misplaced aggressiveness! This movie (and its predecessor) is the very essence of what cinema must be: an immersive experience and a stimulation of sentiments. But, of course, if the "feeling" part of your brain is damaged or atrophied, then I understand your position. Life must suck... I would feel sorry for you were you not that mean with seemingly perfectly nice people! If you want a hole-free plot with no shortenings, then read a good book! They are aplenty.
George Lucas once said that movies are never finished, only abandoned. What he means is that every movie has the potential to be better. There's always more that can be done; more that can be polished. Whether that's additional scenes or better special effects. Of course, the longer you spend making a movie, the more money it costs. Every movie has its budgets and deadlines. Sooner or later, they have to say "it's good enough" and just release it. But that's not finishing it. That's abandoning it. And it's become a huge problem with films in recent years. These days it seems like films are rushed out of production because they care more about meeting their quotas than they do about making a spectacular film. Avatar: The Way of Water, however, is not that kind of film. This is a film that IS finished because James Cameron is deeply passionate about seeing it through. He doesn't just want to bring his vision to life. He wants to make it the best possible version of itself. So he spends as much time and money as he can polishing it to perfection, refusing to release it until he's satisfied with the result. Damn the budget. Damn the deadlines. It's ready when he says so. And I just love that. I wish more filmmakers were this passionate about their projects.
And I thought you had enough careers, and potential careers, and now you can add professional movie critic. You never stop growing your adventures do you? I can't wait to see this. I will take my daughter to this. My mother took me to the first Star Wars movie. This feels bigger. Thanks Patrick.
I think the reason why avatar 2 was kind of underwhelming was because this movie was supposed to be 1/2 of a different movie, that's going to be followed up in the 3rd one.
i loved the sequel, it was so good that i kind of forgot i was i was watching CGI, and add 3D on top of it, you are now fully immersed into the movie, i hope directors learn from this movie and give us something like this every year. its like watching a documentary from a distant planet.
Avatar 2's effects were definitely better than the first and set a new high bar once again but relative to what existed at the time I thought the first Avatar were more ground breaking. Cameron is so close to the edge of what is technologically possible its going to be really hard to keep beating himself as each new Avatar sequel is released.
If this doesn’t make the top 5 grossing I’ll be so suprised. The hype, the delivery, the message and the emotional connection was phenomenal I’ve never felt that strong of a connection to multiple if not all the characters. Masterpiece
I saw Avatar: The Way of Water in IMAX 3D. And it was visually stunning, but also very moving as you said. Yes, the world was very immersive and the story engaging. Given that he filmed Avatar 2 and 3 at the same time, I'm guessing we'll be seeing Avatar 3 next summer. (Crossing fingers).
I waited a decade for this. Watched it in the theatres, and didn't regret a single second waiting, or spent watching it. It's a phenomenal movie, and James Cameron continues to be one of my favorite film directors. His way of making things work is just amazing. And the entire production team behind Way of the Water is just as amazing. Being able to take such a concept and turn it into such a smooth movie CGI-wise is not an easy task. I can't wait for the third movie, even if franchises tend to start going downwards after the second or third movie. I feel like James Cameron will manage to somehow make it work. He did it with the first movie. He did it with this one. He'll do it again.
Got my ticket for IMAX3D viewing this Thursday. I don't remember the first movie a whole lot, just certain plot points and imagery, but I don't doubt Cameron delivering cos he's one helluva determined and fearless MF. The Abyss production fascinated me as well, just blew my mind how far he took the underwater work. His eternal fascination with deep sea exploration also guarantees a lot of truth for the underwater shots. Finally, I recently read how Cameron was so determined to get the emotional beats right, leading to 800+ pages for the entire Avatar sequels modelling Peter Jackson's LOTR. He's stopping at nothing to make it phenomenal. I realised I'm just hyping myself up with all these revelations, but what the hell, I miss Cameron's movie magic after so many years of Marvel screaming for eyeballs. He's the last of the great moviemakers from the 80s.
@@impatrickt NGL, I don't envy the people working on visual effects. The VFX is bloody flawless. The whole film is so damn immersive. I realised I flinched a few times during some very adverse scenes. The technical craft in this sequel has gone up in several epic levels from the first film. One thing that really improved in this film was the emotional beats. I think Cameron made a good choice to focus more on the kids this round. I was waiting for that pivotal moment, not gonna reveal here but you know which (sick, I know but there has to be an emotional turning point to keep the momentum going). I felt that moment. I didn't have the same emotional response with the first film. It's a fantastic film. A much needed sci-fi/fantasy blockbuster done right.

While BO grossing are not everything (they are so many excellent movies that are way down that list!), it still speaks volume! By the way, your comment was useless and mean! As a new user, learn to better behave!
The industry is known as make believe and it obviously fooled you. To begin with, prior to the late 2000s, worldwide box office totals did not count. This is because overseas totals were traditionally less than domestic takes. After Avatar got a release in the biggest markets (nations with populations of billions of people, compared with the North American market one third the size), studios began to gloat about worldwide totals. You see, China and other authoritarian regimes traditionally blocked western media. All the old greats, all of those traditional western number one all time grosses, were sidelined when China decided to allow western movies to distribute there in the late 2000s. With the additional revenues generated, Avatar's "worldwide" gross leapfrogged the traditional domestic grosses. Of course, studios will never attempt to explain this to their own populations. Instead, they'll sell it as Avatar being much more popular than any movie in history, when in fact, if you take away non-traditional market takes, Avatar is merely the 15th most successful movie of all time. Hence, you my friend, have been duped. You can't compare Avatar with the old greats, because Avatar was released to markets those older movies were banned from in some cases. Avatar is a celebration of newly exploited revenue streams: a celebration of greed, and nothing more. It's quite literally the 21st century version of a Punch and Judy show: an empty and deceitful pandering to weak minds. I hope this helps.
Now as much as I agree with most of the tings you've said I also can't help but notice how the way of water is just a retelling of the first one but with a different cast and message. The CGI is phenomenal and the characters aren't empty shells, but at the same time you have an almost act for act type feel to everything going on in both movies. Jake becomes an avatar, learns their ways and bonds with them, Jake and his family move away to a different "alien" place, learns theirs ways and bonds with them. At the same time you go the same type of bad guy story going on. Only difference is that now they don't have an insider (if you discount spider) to give them info, instead they now have their own avatar bad guys. As much as i want to like the movie as a whole it falls flat in multiple aspects.
The effects are so good. Unbelievable! Too bad that, like the first one, the story and characters (other than Kiri, maybe) are so bland and unnuanced. The good are entirely good and the bad are entirely bad. No middle ground, no tension from difficult choices. In that way, it was both an incredible experience to watch it, but also a big letdown. Especially afterwards.
James Cameron has directed, Pirahna 2, Aliens, Terminator, T2, T2-3D (this was the "movie" for the T2-3D attraction at Universal, they actually put a lot of effort into this), True Lies, The Abyss, Titanic and Avatar 1 and 2....when you look at the list and realize only 2 of those movies weren't ground breaking in someway, when it came to filmmaking and visual effects...that's mind blowing.
Well I watched the movie was literally a out of the world experience but just the last climax that felt a bit like ya it’s a movie and it’s stretched not saying it was bad but it felt like ya I am watch a movie instead of I am in movie( I am only talking about the last parts of climax not the whole) Edit: I am talking about sequence were kids get captured, escaped and get captured again)
@@greecko13 i've seen it twice now and i consider the movie 3 acts, i can understand why you might check out it you're not into Cameron going full tilt action mode but i feel like the entire climax is just a cherry on top of a great piece of cake. the second watch i noticed how much i love each section for different reasons.
@@impatricktwell I don’t hate it but that girl getting captured twice was agh not that good of a feeling and she cracking the joke about the same was funny though but aa and repeat of Surender yourself was 😅 can’t express it
@@impatrickt I get it. I am not talking that I hate it first. The thing is after a while I was just inside the movie I was just feeling it I even got a bit emotional because of the hard work they put into it. I am saying that when the climax part came I expected a lot, I agree that it’s my fault but that sequel were kids and eacaping and getting captured again and all that scene made me disconnect from movie for a bit just that nothing else
It deserves the $2 billion it has made and I hope it makes more. Even if people don't like the film, which is absurd by the way, you really have to appreciate just how much work went into the making of it. James Cameron has done it again and I also am looking forward to the future of Avatar
Watching in 3D is a must for this movie. You really forget your in this dark room wearing funky glasses and you just become part of the world. Awesome video
I've seen the way of water 3 times already & i'm off to see it again tomorrow while i still can. Everything about it is beautiful in the extreme & it's a joy to be able to get completely lost in such an incredible world with amazing characters. Thanks for the video patrick, you summed it up perfectly.
That’s exactly how I felt watching this movie. I liked the first one and I LOVED this one, Not because of its mindblowing visuals but because of the story and characters. I was shocked how much I cared about the CGI blue aliens.
@@kal-el9905 I don't know if you've seen it already Quaritch was a cartoonish villain in the first movie. His really good in this one! Finally feels like a real person to me.
I saw this movie and now its stuck in my head. Like if i somehow experience all of the events first hand. Like experiensing a dramatic experience that you cant forget.
This movie is phenomenal? Did you seriously just say that? The movie was a terrible. Terribly written that is. The only good thing about that movie are the visuals. Literally
@@conkeegs its a stupid thing to say tho. Criticism is "coping" now? Coping with what? Its not something that affects my mental health or something. People be using cope in an unfitting way too often
I took my father to see Avatar the way of water. He and I were crying at the end. I never see him sob like that for anything. It was amazing and one of the best films I have ever seen!
Even back in the day the first avatar film looked like a really good video game cutscene. Avatar 2 looks like Cameron went on a 13 year trip to Pandora to shoot on location and beamed back the film while he's still on his spaceship back to Earth.
Gonna be honest as someone who’s LOVED avatar since the first film this has felt so much like retribution 😭 like yess everyone’s FINALLY GETTING IT! So many people were meh for the first one but I truly fell in love w pandora and I think the message is extremely poignant and important.
