I started 6 weeks ago, doing trad windows and garden maintenance, I have 32 regular customers on my windows and a few garden maintenance, I have only posted 2 posts onto a local selling page and the rest has been word of mouth, im feeling very blessed and working it alongside factory work (12 hours of 2 days 2 nights 4 off) not going to do a RU-vid channel as haven't got the time to edit ect, 100% I will be doing this though the winter, as ex forces you learn to take the rough with the smooth, hoping by next spring i have enough regular customers to be able to leave the factory and pursue this fulltime 🤞 the help and advice I have picked up from your channel and other window cleaning channels have been amazing!!! So thank you.
You'll probably have 200 traditional customers in a few months! If you're doing private gardens you be so busy in the summer but dead in the winter!!! Window cleaning is all year round! 👍👍👍
Been self employed gardener for last 12 years, I got fed up with reduced income in winter so brought myself a gardiner backpack and the slx pole 6 months ago. Haven’t advertised but every time I go out todo the small amount of houses I have I’m amazed at how many people approach me looking for a window cleaner compared to the gardening. Great videos mate, they inspired me to add this service to my work👍
Started in November. Potentially the worst time with the pandemic and it being winter. Over 300 customers already. Using the water fed pole. Got an 09 plate Peugeot bipper. 250 litre tank and ok fortunate to get purified water from a friend. I’ve got an ova 8 22ft pole and a decent reel which has been a life saver. Will be getting a bigger van with 650 litre tank. 2 man set up and purchasing a gutter vac very soon. I love it. Only thing is I’ve outgrown the van already. Facebook page is thriving and its like a journal to see how far I’ve come just in over 6 months.
Fantastic!!! 300 customers!!! So you've done a winter already! Lol I'm gonna have to come and work for you!!! You'll probably sack me I'd slow you down! 😅
Any advice on how to get the fb page going? I get all my work through door knocking right down south. Unbelievable amount of work just sitting there waiting to be picked up buy would love to get work like you through a fb page. I tried it and just got the odd time waster and shit all else lol. Thanks
@@vinnysinclair3718 make a business Facebook page. Make sure your branding is strong. Do daily posts of your work. Get family / friends to like and share. Go on local pages and post the page in there. Work will come in mate.
@@jordanireland3110 cheers. I did this before and really went at it with the selling pages but maybe I didn't give it long enough. I always think there must be a trick that I'm missing but fair enough thanks
Been there and got the T shirt. Left self employed window cleaner for a job being employed. Benefits ....sick pay, Holiday pay, regular wages so for me it was a no brainier.
Starting 13 June - 3 weeks after my second jab. Was due to start March 2020 but covid stopped me. Have wfp kit and water processing all ready to go. Website built, leaflets and business cards all ready for canvassing. Hoping to really learn a lot in summer to ready myself for the winter - not intending to be stopped by weather - If I can wrap up warm and dryish then I'm fine. As for starting youtube, interesting, I might give it a go, you have inspired me. Not that I feel comfy in front of camera. Your cheapy phone is doing quite well, quality is fine. Have a great Weekend
@@KennethTaylor900 Cheers mate. Not sure making vids would help me gain customers at the beginning :-) Also not sure I would be up to your video and speech skills - I'm not joking, you are so relaxed and your speech just flows, I would be all err, err...... :-) I will think about it though. Cheers
I started about six months ago. DIY pole system in an old berlingo van on its last legs but it's doing the job. Only have business cards and I just door knock. Really good success rate but still hate doing the doors lol. Only been doing the windows for about 4 or five years then decided to go on my own and start my own round.
6 months ago! If you got through the winter then you must be doing ok! Most people just can't get through the winter months! Lol I ain't knocked doors for years! 😃
I was trad years ago and wrapped in but set up wfp just before the lockdown.also got a predator gutter vac and next few weeks getting a gx390 pressure washer. A bit for all seasons
@@richardgreen7621 that bloke is a comedy genius isn’t he 🤷🏼♂️😂 offered help and refuses to listen then gives motivational speeches that he’s listened to the night before and gets it wrong.28 different businesses. His latest idea is when they tell me my price is too expensive I’m gonna half it.should sell his videos to the bbc.he’d make a killing lol
Hi Ken you are cool guy just say it as it is mate. Good videos. Plus the advice on the pole you gave me is working great mate. I would love to do a vid with you but I don’t live in smethwick anymore farther north now.
I'm glad my advice has helped! I didn't know you lived in Smethwick! I live in Handsworth Wood! Near Smethwick! Lol I'm trying to get the window cleaners that I use to work with to come on my channel, but they do want to embarrass themselves! 😂
@@KennethTaylor900 I was thinking of starting my own channel once I have a couple more years in the trade. Yeah smethwick born an bred but I met my wife up in Stoke and moved there eight years ago. Your mates should get on here mate more of us the better 😂 just don’t sell out to promoting products as other windows cleaners have done it spoils the channels.
You should start your channel now! Show the ups and downs of running a business! Lol you need 1000 subscribers before advertising appears on a channel so I can't sell out yet!
@@KennethTaylor900 you would have to email me a on how you do the backing track and editing ? Even tho I’m a lot younger I’m not a I.T whiss 😂 more hands on.
Hi Kenneth, I started a couple of weeks ago just part time though as i still work full time (just weekends/evenings to start before I have enough to transition to full time). I’ve only got a handful of regular at the moment but like I said, it’s only been two weeks. Got a website and a Facebook page and I’ve done a couple of hours leafleting but don’t seem to be getting many enquiries. I think where I am (close to Cannock) is pretty saturated for some reason (small place as well?). I’ll give you an update on a couple of months to see if I’m doing any better.
Will be starting next week been waiting for my wfp system from purefreedom for over 6 weeks, will be doing it part time until i get a customer base then hopefully quit my job! Vidoes are great cheers mate
Been going to long Ken just a few more years then retire but there again I get bored doing nothing so may do it part time 😁 keep up the good work matey
I once watch dragons den and seen a guy who was a window cleaner on there and Duncan Bannatyne invested £100,000 that made me want my own business and made me realise you dont need to reinvent the wheel to start a business 😀
@@KennethTaylor900 I'm in the process of creating an exterior property cleaning company down south , gutters , jetwash lawns hedges windows sofits etc and wanted to know a few bits , if I gave you my email could I maybe ask you a few questions because you seem like the straight talking kinda advice I need . Totally understand if you don't want to , don't wanna insult you
Good video Ken 👍Do you get any customers saying to you " please don't use that dreadful water splashing system?" I get it a lot lately and I prefer WFP and working in the winter!!
No not any more! I use to traditional all my customers but most are now wfp! Lol They want the traditional method but I tell them I'm getting to old to go up the ladder!
Just curious how you purifying your water, I'm thinking about getting the backpack wfp system, once i asked a window cleaner who was doing house next to house i was cleaning and he said he just adds streak free glass cleaner to the back pack .
Hi Kenneth ,have you ever suffered from back, hip or shoulder injury during your 35 years career as a window cleaner? 🙂 I have been doing this for 7 years know and suffer from back and shoulder pain. Any advise???? Thanks for your content
No I haven't got shoulder or back pain but I've got arthritis in my right knee! From using the ladder do traditional. Lol now you know why I hate it when people say window cleaning is easy!
Only just starting only tiny budget as got young kids lol keep buying online trad tools then get let down got full set up for trad off a seller but gotta wait till they back from holiday so if anyone selling trad tools let me know lol
