Why does he get so fluffed up it seems like he’s mad but then he’s kind of rocking so I’m not sure is he mad or is he happy. Before you call me stupid I don’t know anything about birds this is the first bird I’ve ever watched and I watched 1 million of these videos but they’re not always very informative about the behavior so please don’t crucify me I ask because I’m curious
@@JeanetteKo1 Birds puff up and rock to look intimidating, though i don‘t know if that‘s a general bird thing, or just a parrot thing. You can see f.e some videos of cockatiels protecting their eggs that way and in the Video „Mad Max 9.0“ Max showed the same behaviour as here when he was upset (or afraid?).
@@JeanetteKo1 it's hard to tell with birds. Because they puff up when they're happy, angry or afraid. In this case max looks like he's trying to be intimidating, but he doesn't seem very aggressive. Perhaps just playful? Birds are very unpredictable
Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to have a bird like yours. Tho, I understand how much time has to be committed for an animal like this, and also with the career I want to go for, I don't think I'll ever be able to keep one. I don't want to be one of those people who adopt a bird because how funny they can be, only to give them up when they realize how much time they have to give to it. I doubt you'll see this, but I want to thank you for uploading videos of Max, it gives me joy to see him everyday when you upload. Edit 07/29/2022: It’s been awhile since I’ve seen this video and just noticed this comment I totally forgot about. Six years is a long time and plans change as I didn’t expect to own birds in general, but since then I own two cockatiels. They’re needy, loud and a bunch of brats but I love them dearly. As much as I love Max, a moluccan cockatoo isn’t for me nor would it fit my current lifestyle. My two boys are plenty enough and I make sure to give them lots of attention, veggies, head scratches and space to fly as much as they please ❤️
Nalin I think it's horrible to just keep one bird no matter of which sort it is he is lonely and the only reason why he "likes" you and plays with you is because he has only you. Think of it and think of yourself how would you feel if you were the bird ?
SiltecZ neuer Kanal that is a perspective when one can consider pets as indentured servants. I read that there are more wil tigers captive in Texas than those in the wild.
with birds it is critical 2 have a bond & as said if they bond w/another bird they will both suffer thru alienating their caretakers. In Max's case, I applaud his life with Dan.
6 years later and i still come back to this teenage max video. max youve been my favorite bird on the internet for all these years and you to this day these videos bring some innocence and happiness back into my life. thank you dan for sharing max’s beautiful personality and the reality of owning a bird.
Oh haha funny funny my man. I was scrolling down reading the comments...I read yours; chuckled and moved on...a few posts later I am like wait, I think I recognize that! I read your post again and was like...I get it! And yeah man, it did sound like that warning from 3rd Rock from the Sun.
I was wondering what was wrong with Max and then I realized that this video is six years old. This is another reminder of how much calmer Max is with his new family. He’s like a different birdie today than he was 6 years ago.
Max gets treated better than most children. So spoiled. lol... God Bless you both! ♡ He needs the whole backyard fenced in. From top to bottom. A garden for you both.
I can tell that this bird loves you very much. He wants to play ball with you. When he puffs out his feathers like he does, it means one of two things....he is either trying to make himself look bigger to fend of predators or he is enamored. I would say it is that he really likes spending time with you like "hey, you're pretty cool" I am a bird owner of 3 and never thought I would be nor did I want to be. My oldest is a cockateil and he is 26 years old. I have had him since he was six months old. I don't know his actual birthday but when I figured out that I had him for so many months and 6 months into it and it was on that day that I did calculations so I made that day his birthday. Turned out it was St. Patrick's Day. It is good that you keep your location private and your name private. This will greatly protect you two. I love watching your videos. I have two cockateils and was just going to bird sit a Senegal Parrot but it has turned into 5 years so far and I think it will be permanent. I love this parrot. He makes me laugh. I plan on teaching a bird and small animal care class at night to educate and help people decide if owning a bird is right for them and their lifestyle. You are doing a good thing, sir. You were meant to have this bird in your life.
I had a cockatiel long time ago. If you wiggle your index finger towards him then he would put his head down so that you can scratch his head. He loved it so much and after a minute he would close his eyes and rotate head head to different spots for you to scratch. He could also whistle a few songs like oh macdonald farm. And could say a dozen words like Pretty Bird.
thank you so much for the steady flow of videos. as the owner of abused 2nd hand birds it encourages me to watch you & Max as we strive to helo these guys learn to trust, play & forage. Abused birds often time become silent, stop playing, etc. You have given us many great ideas & even the birds watch. Thanks, I wish every bird had a home like Max has with you. But people need to be reminded they throw sticky food all over the walls, need constant attention, enormous amount of Money every month. Keep the videos coming. Thanks!!
Ahh the sticky food on walls, the amount of paint I've scrubbed off my walls from my goffins! Birds are a huge commitment but are so rewarding. wish people would do their research before getting a bird as its always the poor birds that suffer when the peopl can just walk away. Makes me so angry and sad. It's great to know that people like u help rehabilate abused birds! :) amazing!
Yes Max, we all have those days and you just have to let it all out 😧😤. Still a cutie even when he's mad. I feel like Max with screeching and rocking today 😩.
I am glad that bird has such good care. I seen them with many feathers they pluck out. I couldn't do it. I wouldn't have the patience, time, or ability.to handle such loud volume. I do enjoy watching.him..he is it and he knows it. Lol
