To the people who are commenting in favour of talking in fake accents, the big problem is of pretension. Pretension is fake. Pretension is bad. Be who you are. Have faith in yourself. Have confidence in your accent. The Japanese, Koreans and Germans are so confident about themselves that they talk in their native language only. And here we are- Indians faking foreign accents just to hide our insecurities and lack of self confidence.

When i speak tamil, i try to speak as much as urban Tamil accent ( each district of tamil nadu have diffrent accent, some time tamilian itself don't get that) When i speak hindi also, i try to speak posh hindi accent.. Some who has different mother tongue have multi accent when they try to speak other language... People are so obsessed with english, they are so impressed if some one speaking any language other than English.

India has around 10-15% of its population still living under the poverty line which equates to around 14 crores which in and of itself is a staggering number.(refer NSSO and world bank survey) Any comparisons with other countries on sheer numbers alone is a moot point. Plus there are no actual concrete numbers for post-pandemic India so Dior hosting a gala with these privileged people showboating around is Indian economic dynamics and wealth disparity in a nutshell.
