I always wondered. Why is the continent referred to as: Oceana, Australia, Australasia? I heard all 3 several times, but idk which is actually correct, if all 3 are correct
@619WWEFAN Oceania is the whole continent, Australia is just the country and Australasia is subregion, especially in terms physical geography and geopolitics. All of them are right if used correctly :)
Oceania is a continent plus pacifica microcontinents. Australasia is Australia, New Zealand and a few islands, and Australia is the country, within both Australasia and Oceania.
I think many call the continent Australia, because its the largest country in the continent, and the most recognizable. but i feel like it erases new zealand and the many other islands. i think it should only be known as oceania.
