Funny thing is that I could not wait to retire, but now that I am, I am starting new businesses. LOL. Boredom will make you do that. I guess I will not officially retire until I an retired. Good luck to everyone in retirement. You earned it and I hope you are all happy and financially sound.

That makes so much sense! I think retirement is really doing what you want, when you want and with whim you want. But it doesn't need to mean we don't work at all ☺️☺️

10 years I sensed I was being pushed out at age 55 .I was already legally retired with 30.16 years of credited service in the state retirement system ,plus another two years working in my employers 457 B program called the DROP ( deferred retirement option program). I simply retired, lived off of my pension until age 62 where I claimed my Social Security benefits. I now have two streams of passive income. Not wealthy, but comfortable.

Hello. I am 50 with just over $300,000. I have $195,000 of that in traditional 401, at work. I have 2 non qualified, one with $12,000, and one with $30,000. I have another IRA outside of work, with $30,000. I am also involved in an HSA account at work, with $8,500 in. I don't use it as I am saving it to use it during retirement. Then I have around $18,000 in my bank, some of that is in bonds, at my bank. I am hoping to retire near 60. I will get a pension that i probably start st 65, with my social security starting in my 60's. I make $60,000, right now, and do not live like the Jones', but am comfortable in my life. I hope my saving looks promising for an earlier tnan 65 retirement.

You seem to be well diversified and set to reach your retirement goal. Make sure to keep saving (and investing), even if a small amount of money every month. Since you have app. ten years ahead, I would consider an index fund to grasp higher returns (but make sure you contribute with a certain frequency - let's say monthly to better manage market volatility through dollar cost averaging). Great job so far! I'm cheering for you to keep it up :-)
