Some time before 50AD, Paul argued that gentile converts to the new religion need not be circumcised. That opinion carried the day at the Council of Jerusalem. Do any readers of this thread know of any historical evidence bearing on when and where the descendants of Jewish converts to Christianity stopped circumcising their newborn sons?
The crazy thing is that if Jesus is the actual Jewish Messiah, then "Christian's", are actually "Jews". And, if their Christian theology is fairly accurate to Christ's intended message, then Christian's would seem to be most Jewish of all.

@@johnvu3268 Personally, I think that the accuracy of His name is not of importance. Rather, it's His message and His teachings that are important. Imo, most Christians understand the general ("meat") of His message. And, many Christians do strive to follow His moral teachings: ✔Do not judge anyone. ✔Forgive everyone. ✔See yourself as superior to no one. ✔Treat everyone with respect. ✔Learn to love everyone, including your enemy (ie. "Unconditional Love"). ✔Live your life with the utmost Dignity (not only in your words and actions, but also in your thoughts). ✔Surrender your pride, heart and soul to God, and ask that He uses you as a vessel to use as He pleases. ✔Understand that our ticket to Gods presence/Gods Kingdom ("Heaven") is entirely due to the grace of God, through Christs personal sacrifice, for each & everyone of our sake. ✔Try to model yourself to best reflect Christs/Gods nature (ie: A character of unadulterated dignity, and a heart of unconditional love towards everyone). Whether or not each individual commits their life to following these teachings, and as to what degree of sincerity and effort that they choose to give, is entirely up to each individual to decide for themselves. Christs teachings are there for anyone and everyone to see, and understand. But, God also gave us individual freewill to choose as we please.

She denied the Christians fled to Pella. Josephus records them as having left after the first Roman army encircled Jerusalem- and then left. They left because of a lack of siege equipment. At about 12:00 she poses the question: why weren't the entire "band" rounded up and executed? At 17:00 she says Jesus was crucified because he was popular. She never answers the question "why weren't they ALL executed?" The whole group just runs away and is left alone by Pilate, in fact they continue to hang around in Jerusalem, which she says isn't the way the Romans did things. So I'm still waiting for her to answer her own question.

I don't agree with her assertion that "that's the way Romans did things" - given certain circumstances, yes... but when a politically charged movement gets a certain, critical size... cutting off said movement's leadership followed by infiltration & co-opt it is the more effective 'game theory' strategy, and one borne out by numerous historical instances. It was interesting when she said they looked up to Zeus as Yahweh. I think she forgot the Jews are strictly monotheist group even when Jesus was among them and couldn't care less of the religion of the roman, nor woiuld the Roman cared what the Jews worshipped or preached. The Romans never preached their Zeus or Augustus God to their traders from other empires..

She’s considered one of the top scholars in the world on this subject. What she says, in fact, is that there’s no such thing as “strict monotheism” in antiquity, even among Jews. In antiquity, rather, people all believed in multitudes of unseen powers; but the Jews were distinct because they weren’t supposed to honor others’ gods, whom they nevertheless admitted existed. Other people honored the gods of other places and groups than their own, as a matter of courtesy. Jews gave respect but no worship - sacrifices- to others’ gods.

Yaakov (James) and all the Messiah's apostles were only confined with Jews in Israel that time so few details are known about them. We have some quotations from Jewish Josephus, Acts of the Apostles and in Gospel of John about Yaakov. In some letters of the Apostle Paul, he talked about his encounters with the Ekklesia in Jerusalem with Kefah (Peter) and Yaakov. He went to Jerusalem to meet Kefa and other disciples but only he only met Kefa and Yaakov. They agreed that Paul (Sha'ul) is for the gentiles and Yaakov, Kefa etc for Jews. But Kefa sometimes goes to Antioch in Syria to meet ekklesia of the gentiles there with Apostle Paul and Barnaba.

John's gospel was written by his followers in Ephesus around 90 AD, probably from John's direct dictation and thus is a genuine eyewitness account. His epilog is particularly telling in this respect, a personal note to settle a contemporaneous dispute. In contrast, the synoptics are collections of stories woven together in deeply flawed narratives. The grafted-on birth stories are especially odious, IMO.
