BRUH I SAY THIS EVERY TIME. Man gets accused. Cop does something wrong or lone ranger style. Police department then released a statement "after further investigation OHH LOOK A BUTTERFLY....our guy did nothing wrong and went based upon his situation."
true, but in some situations, they kind of really have to handcuff first and then check the ID and 5 minutes later you're free to go. I'm not saying that all of these clips were like that, but sometimes they're looking for very dangerous people and they can't take any risks.
I feel like whatever they do to an innocent person that person should have the right to do to them like the first video those deserve to be roughed up and tazed
Cop in the 3rd clip is how all cops should handle these situations. He was cautious but also polite and calm, he did not jump to conclusions or automatically assume the guy he was talking to was the person he was looking for.
The cop in the third clip polished a turd and gave him lip service to excuse his behavior, that's why he blamed his sergeant for instructing him to detain the man. Don't be fooled by politically correct vernacular and a carefully choreographed activity designed to look harmless. Just because someone isn't slamming you to the ground screaming "Get on the ground Ni**er" doesn't mean that it's not a racially motivated act, and the same goes in reverse. Political correctness just hides the truth from plain sight. "Sir, please stop where you are, you are being detained for an ongoing police investigation. You match the description of a suspect, we need to confirm your identity and that you are not the individual we're looking for." It's that simple. The whole interaction about how they don't think it's him, but circumstances are whatever... That just makes the cops look unprofessional and shady af! Just be straight to the point, professional, and respectful. Patronizing people isn't respectful.
@@broobit7540Hopefully he’s NOT seeing how Patrick was NEVER even asked for an ID. Those POS cops were on a power trip and didn’t even follow proper protocol with the first being them properly identifying a person of interest.
"All you had to do was give me ID!"... well I am glad we have footage, because they never asked for ID. That is wild to me. Of course I am going to resist when you are UNLAWFULLY arresting me, and using a taser on me. Also, absolutely horrible that he was about to lose his LIFE all because of their mistake. Getting kicked out of school, and losing his job, just because they didn't ask for ID, and escalated the situation.

And considering he was in his yard and they failed to properly identify who they’re suspect was, failed to ask for ID, homeowners should be able to pop them. That’s trespassing and gang mentality. They were every bit of a threat
Simple: Put the police officer in front of a jury, have them decide whether or not to proceed to a real trial, and what charges should be in that trial.
Very funny coincidence for a scary situation. I looked it up and it's a body builder gym. HEEIST stands for: Helping Everyone Experience Inner Strength Together.
Thats not why she said that, apparently a guy driving the same looking car drove away from them during a stop or something like that. So she thought it was him
So you're trying to tell me that Internal Affairs officers are not the same as a regular police officer. if I remember correctly they take the same oath as a regular police officer and they should be held accountable for their actions as well.
This makes my blood boil. I was falsely arrested and charged for controlled substance once. Internal affairs is a damn joke, how about external affairs??? Situations like these will make you look at things from a different perspective
“We investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong end of story” like what a fucking wild way to look into misconduct of any kind. That’s like me murdering someone and then I get to look into myself as a suspect and say ‘I investigated myself and found that I did not kill anyone’ and that gets accepted as fact just because I said so, even though I’m covered in blood, wearing a tshirt that says ‘I’m a murderer,’ and I have a body in my trunk. It’s the most bizarre, nonsensical thing ever. Internal investigations are useless.
I’m glad the interaction with Joseph Griffin was just a “we need to double check to make sure” mix up and not a “it’s 100% you, put your hands in the air” mix up. Edit: Holy moly 68 likes on this comment? I was not expecting that! Thanks!

He escalated the situation by being uncooperative and trying to get in the car and drive away. The police were wrong but i dont think they were being malicious - they had limited information and were trying to get more information from the guy. If both parties were willing to work together they would have quickly found out he wasn't the guy they were looking for. Police and criminals are people all the same, nobody is perfect. The general mistrust of both police AND felons does not lend to productive interactions between the two. When they arrest the wrong person, and or do an unlawful arrest, for most of those victims it’s most likely never to trust an officer again, period…. Way to go!
It's insane that even after they find out that they're wrong they never sincerely apologize to the innocent party and in some cases they even go as far as to steal attempt to arrest a person even though they've done nothing wrong just to cover their own asses. This literally makes it hard for people to trust law enforcement.
I think most people would even look the other way if the cops were more emphatic and did their best to make up for their false accusations or poor policing. In a lot of cases, the cops are like, "oh well, yeah, we got the wrong person, but if you didn't do such and such, we wouldn't have had to act this way." In reality, anyone being threatened with incarceration or faced with being implicated is going to have a natural reaction to defend themselves. It's like a human reaction to feel threatened and want to shell up and avoid being victimized. So basically, if the police hadn't provoked people, they wouldn't be in the siltation to begin with.
Ppl should never trust the govt. The police act like tyrannical rulers when their money comes from the public as a fundamental understanding that they work for ppl. The lack of human decency is so gross. If the govt. makes a mistake, they should treat you like they committed a crime. False imprisonment is a crime. So is making false police report. Qualified immunity is too much for them.
@@phillipmoses2513no, not anybody. I mean defend yourself with words yes but a natural reaction to resist arrest isnt true... my dad went to jail and hes almost racist himself with his view of caucasian people, but while the cop was arresting him he did everything the cop said while speaking to defend himself rather than acting like the guy in the 1st video as a natural reaction. Would have been mine too, to think fighting with police officers, especially with my skin color, is a natural reaction? Thats dangerous man, id get that checked because you have a family you need to go home to and protect. Thats not a natural reaction, it doesnt make sense to put yourself in more danger when scared, it makes sense to do the opposite. Its only a natural reaction 100% of the time if youre guilty of something because only then are you in danger.
I respect the way the cop at 6:39 handled things. (Idk their last names, so I'm gonna use their first names.) If you're talking about the cops in the video, a few of them are actually not corrupt cops. One of the cops handled the situation very well, the one with the burglary thingy. The sedan the friends were in for the attempted robbery part, the cop was somewhat right somewhat wrong. Cops only get a little information before they are dispatched. Is that really true though? There care cases where that does happen (including to white people but those are on youtube footage, just not spread by media), but is it not pretty rare if the person does not resist or appear to be drawing a gun? He was understandably nervous but they did everything they could within the bounds of their station to assure him that as long as he wasn't the suspect they were looking for he would be fine and when they let him go they debriefed him and explained that he was stopped because of how little information they were given to him. If more police were like this all the time we wouldn't have ACAB.

I've watched a lot of bodycams and this is an example why all cops should wear them. It goes to show that the cops didn't even bother to verify his identity and decided to arrest him on the spot. Patrick already got his settlement but it's stupid due to the fact that he has a non-violent first offense charge on him. Maybe the cops should learn for decent cops who ask for identification and verify if it is the right person, not straight up arrest an innocent person.
Eye witnesses are often quite terrible at identifying the correct person involved in a crime. It's so bad that we should probably never be arresting anyone based on such evidence. Perhaps with 2 or 3 or more eye witnesses things would be different, but never one.
