Nothing has changed. What did the nobility and the priestly class do to protect themselves from the peasants and serfs? They put the Sheriffs (Cops) in between them. They rewarded them monetarily, granted them a coat of arms (badge), enhanced their power with qualified immunity, and gave them a flag (thin blue line), thus instilling a sense of entitlement. Where did they get these people from? From the least moral of the peasants and serfs.
I agree w the sherriff in the first clip. Federal prison property is not open to the public in any way, not even the visitors' parking area. You are on a strict security enforcement area. I have had to contract for prisons. They searched us just like inmates every day. I committed no crime. "I'm done explaining this to you" was perfect from the cop.
