@@akacasascha3628I could be wrong but I bealive legally you need to blow around .04 to be able to drive and be in public so the officer in the video who blew .233 was around 5 times above the legal limit
@@akacasascha3628 That is correct. U.S. uses percent. Germany uses per mill. In Germany it used to be .08 before the SPD decided that science does not matter. .08 or .1 are reasonalbe legal limits in free countires/ democracies. Everything below that lacks scientific reasoning. Edit: Staying below those values does not mean you cannot be charged with DUI btw, neither in Germany nor in a lot of U.S. states. If you exhibit signs of intoxication and have lower amounts of alcohol in your blood, you can be charged with DUI. Being above that just means you definitely will be.
Well 1st time DUI is kindof lenient in most jurisdictions and the 2nd cop got the typical treatment (fines, DUI classes, etc.). Don't know the standards of the police but you might still be able to be a cop with one.
Until we start policing the police, we will remain victims. Go ahead and report any malfeasance or grievances you may have with your local law enforcement - they will laugh at you and tell you to get lost. Too many people are so fuckin blind.
Funny how cops almost always play the "i had a bad day, gimme a break" card when they get in trouble, yet they laugh in the faces of everyone else who says the same
Because before cameras they did get away with it...back in the day if this had happened the cop that pulled them over would just give them a ride home, but cameras stopped most that
that awkward moment when you're 8 years old and after getting beat by your 350lbs father for an hour straight till he's having chest pains and wheezing from the effort so he calls the cops and they burst in just as he's on top of you with his hands on your throat so they get your father off you only to cuff you and lay you face down for probably another hour while they get dad's side of the story to then pick you up and bring your 8 year old arse to jail to give you a stern warning about behaving and do as your father says or you'll go to jail for longer and they ignore you when you tell them he hits you and your brother all the time and he does sexual things to you but because you're crying and having a bad day they tell you to stop lying and behave or you're going to get charged with assault against your father who's about 10x your size even though you're the one covered with bruises and missing teeth and your dad is fine except he exhausted himself beating you man, I really wish they had gone easy on me that day...i was having a REALLY bad day
absolutely disgraceful that the intoxicated supervisor had to tell her to cuff him because the victims were watching. all these arresting officers should be ashamed for their complacency. also, these 'slap on a wrist' charges these guys received hardly "obliterated their career"
It’s precisely because they know full well that there’s gonna be just a slap on the wrist for their superiors and that they will still have to work under them because of this leniency, that they dare not to apply law in a way they do it with ordinary citizens.
The charges yes, but is the cuffing always necessary ? I mean, isn't it just a way to make sure someone is not going to flee or be a danger or whatever ? I mean I get how it looks, but giving the context (which is always important), I don't think her supervisor posed any threat to their security, or was about to take off or whatever... Again, the leniant charges are a absolute shame, but the cuffing part I understand.
I had 2 DUIs, and I’m not saying this because I think I should’ve been given a lenient sentence, but it really pisses me off how cops are allowed to do whatever with no repercussions. I’m grateful that I got the sentence I did (no one got hurt thank GOD) because tomorrow, Oct 4th, marks 2 years of sobriety!
@@neuberknight575 the field sobriety test is literally a trap. Lots of cops can’t even pass it sober. They are out to ruin your life, not rehabilitate. I only received rehabilitation when I joined a sober living community and thanks to my family and loved ones’ support.
i dont understand why they're always "so sorry" for each other. you have the rotten apple that people complain about right infront of you, just arrest them without remorse. this is beyond me
Exactly. More so when they don't even know each other. Its disgusting how they blame others for doing their job while they fucked up themselves and put them in thus position. And then they're mad at others.. 5 year old mentality..
I am retired law enforcement, and this is giving me secondhand embarrassment! Don't drink and drive!! Once an officer contacts you, it is ON RECORD, and there is nothing you can do about it! And WTF? A cop asking another cop to let them off on a crime is the most disgusting think I can think of. If the officer let him go the officer could lose their job and face charges, especially if he kills someone! Don't drink and drive, it is so simple.
As a citizen, I whole-heartedly agree. I'm not an "all cops are bad" kind of guy. I just like to see the corrupt ones go down. There's TONS of great professional police officers. But these guys who think they can drink/drive and stuff and just get let off the hook for having a bad day is insane.
As a retired police officer. You probably never pulled over a drunk police officer. But I bet you knew of many that drank an drove in your presence. They have cop bars. Some I have seen hammered and get in a car with the cops are still in the bar drinking. They all knew when he left he was going to drive. But as long as they didn’t witness it every thing is cool. They purposely close their eyes . Not saying that’s you. You seem like a cool guy. I know with all the laws on the books. Know matter who you are you will brake the law. It a matter of degree how bad of a criminal you are. John Stossel did a huge story on this. You can look it up. The amount of laws we have all the books would fill a large library from floor to ceiling. So in the eyes of the law, we are all criminals.
It always baffles me how polite and nice they treat other cops when they are obviously messed up. Why is this same courtesy not extended to the general public? Cops should be held to a higher standard, no one is above the law.
coworkers tend to understand each other better compared to the general population which can compromise like thousands of faces you wont recognize constantly. it's usual in just about every field.
It’s hard to determine who’s more corrupt in these, the officers being arrested, or the officers letting them get away with so much. All three of them received special privileges so disgustingly unfair.
Don't forget the DA's and Judges that let them off with a slap on the wrist when Joe Average would be looking at up to a year and jail and about $10,000 in fines and legal fees.
What 30dys suspension no court date lost licence thats it?? How dangerous still having his gun on him and uncuff him...in his frame of mind seriously stupid stupid
I was expecting a harsh penalty, beginning with firing from the police department. They're all still on the job. I thought these cops "obliterated" their careers? What a click bait title.
That last one clearly gives an interesting insight into the lawless wild west within some police departments. Where do you run to where do you go…? The Gun Shop it would seem…. ❤😮🎉😮😅😊😅😅❤🎉🎉😊😮😮😢😊😅😅😅😅
I respect the officer who made her cuff him. “Yes you are because they are watching” that definitely saved her from botching the entire thing. She treated the victims so wrong, I hope she got sat down and trained on how she conducted herself
She certainly didn't have a problem with cigarette smoke when she was stood right next to her buddy while he was smoking in the car. She should be sacked too
"It's not like the old days." Just think of how much corruption must have took place before body cams. Even with body cams, the amount self entitlement is disgusting.
I had a cop arrest me and literally lie about everything that happened in a police report back in 2013. I figured since I had my DUI recorded ten years prior in the next town over, that the interaction would of been recorded as well. However it wasn't or so they claim. His buddies just laughed, stole my phone too make sure it wasn't recording, and it was just my word against 3 cops and at the time so I didn't have a chance in court and was forced to basically plea to something I wasn't guilty of. At least today people are finally believing that a lot of cops can't be trusted on their word alone.
Of course he did. Can you imagine the corruption and the laws cops broke all the way up to murder, before body cameras were a thing? And they still turn body cameras off, "lose" the footage and refuse to release it. Laws need to be passed that if cops alter, obstruct, turn off or lose footage of body cameras then they should be charged with a felony. Haven't the American citizens had enough of the corruption and blatant criminality that infects law enforcement access the country?
In the "old days" aka pre 2000 cops gave a lot more leeway to just about everyone. I remember my senior year of high school in 1997. A bunch of us seniors that played football went to a big field party. I was in a car with a few other guys and 2 girls and we were all crammed in there. We got pulled over at like 2 am. We had all drank a few beers despite being underage. I was still 17 along with a few others and 2 guys were 18. The cop saw beer cans in the back seat. Made us all get out and he dumped the beer on the side of the road. Asked where we were going. We told him to the one guy Chris's house which was actually 1/2 mile away tops. He told us to get out asses there and stay inside the rest of the night. We drove away and he followed us to the house then drove away. That would never happen today.
I couldn't believe he still had it on him, I've watched alot of these and every single one has taken the cops weapon straight away. They left a drunk with a loaded weapon???
@herps4life33 I couldn't believe that even when he did literally reach down and GRAB his gun, the other officer just stood there and kept talking to him like he didn't just threaten him!! Smh Didn't even take it away! Astonishing.
@@ericforsythyeah, but him saying that is crazy bc it means if it weren’t for the update tech they have, they would’ve let him go. Definitely shouldn’t get arrested for this situation but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jerry helped a brother out 😂
@@ericforsythYou know damn well he would’ve let him off if those body cameras weren’t on. He literally said “she’s got to take you in” while pointing to the female officer’s body cam. Like are you dense?
the last cop was actually horrifying. i have no idea how he got away with putting his hand on his weapon and threatening others in the middle of a police station
That female officer needs to be fired! She needed "personal space" from the VICTIM'S cigarette smoke, then stood right next to "Bertie" while he smoked. Then, she wasn't even going to cuff him! Preferential treatment, much?! She clearly has a bias, and all of her cases need to be reviewed for fairness!
Yes!!! That case made me sooo pissed off out of all of them!! Because it had me thinking that regardless of whether or not her supervisor was involved, she most likely treats certain individuals a particular way which is extremely F-ed up! That kid had his car totaled by a drunken FOOL and she couldn't even muster up an ounce of sympathy or understanding. She stood so far away she might as well have been on the other side of the road. People like her probably shouldn't be cops in the first place, or should take a lot of courses in ethics, diversity, if that would even help...
The way that female officer spoke to the other driver was sickening, it shows how little they think of the citizens they are supposed to protect and serve, she was also fully on her friend Bertie's side before other officer came. It all makes you wonder just how many drunk cops do get away with it when their backing the blue.
My old neighbor was a cop and his daughter totalled her car right in front of my house driving drunk and guess who was the officer on scene, and guess who didn't get arrested that night.... Definitely happens
The 2nd guy shouldn't have driven while drunk, but he earned a little respect from me for being adamant about the cuffs. The arresting cop should definitely been reprimanded in how she treated the victim.
The fact the 2nd one told the officer to cuff him bc they're watching and the first one only did it because the cameras "aren't like the old days" is so insane. I'm so grateful the importance of body cams have stopped cops from putting themselves above the law.
If you really want a mind f*ck think about this, police are the ones who makes sure the law is respected but even between them before the body cams they made an exception between them, now think about it in a way high level, political one, how many cases exist up there where they are linked with gangs, cartels, trafficking and not only drugs but the one about alive beings too... those guys are literally untouchable, just see who were the ones going to the private island of kids and how no one is in jail or had a proper investigation towards them, being in the government doesn't magically makes you a saint or pure so only between them they know how much they cover themselves
I honestly see no issue with police not handcuffing people they know that aren’t armed that aren’t aggressive or defensive. Handcuffing people that don’t need to be cuffed can definitely make situations worse
@@Jc-dc2jg Yes, but that realistically doesn't happen. You get cuffed just for doing a crime. It could be simple theft and you'll be in handcuffs. But officers get special treatment just because.

What's horrifying is how Jerry totally would have his friend get away with it if he could have. Bodycam footage was the only thing stopping him from letting his drunk driving friend off the hook.
It's horrifying but tbh it's more horrifying realizing most people are human and would let their best friend go as well if they were in the same situation. Doesn't make it right, but it is the human condition.
I know how it probably looks bad on Jerry, but I think anyone will help a close friend try to get out of trouble, even when they've made a mistake. I know I'd be tempted to, and I think you would to. I think you should try to reserve judgement here on Jerry, especially considering he did the right thing even with the position he was in. Jerry is a top guy in my book.
It really angers me how even when they arrest each other they refuse to put hand-cuffs on the offender. What makes them so special? They are supposed to SERVE the public, yet are always perfectly happy to cuff people in an instant.
Of course. She probably knew that cop personally, to see him on the side of the road drunk as hell must of surprised the fuck out of her. At least she did the right thing in the end though.
That's the first thing that came to mind. The kind of cop that 100% always smells drugs when he can't find anything on you, never just gives a warning and will always be like "sorry that's not up to me" when you ask for mercy, sympathy or just consideration.
I love that the first officer seems to deliberately hold the breathalyzer numbers up to her body cam. That was an awfully smart move because I got the strong impression from that Jerry guy that he was inclined to overlook the whole thing if he had thought there was a way to. In a couple of decades everyone who advanced their careers without camera accountability will hopefully be gone along with the expectation that they could get special treatment. There will always be some corruption, but it certainly helps.
@@GrumpyIan Yeah, he certainly should have got way worse, at least sheriff is an elected position. People know what they're getting this way and if they want to vote for a corrupt garbage officer, well then I guess that's their lousy choice. Tell you what though, I don't drink, but if I got a DWI in that town I'd make good and sure my lawyer presented the results of this event to the court and demand I get no worse than a year probation.
The worst thing is the drunk officers were not only treated differently, but even with body cam footage, they pretty much got away with it. Kept their jobs! That female cop on the second arrest straight up lied to the victim. 'We only take photos at DUI's'. 30 seconds later. 'I'm uncomfortable Bertie. Looks like I'll have to do a DUI investigation'. What exactly did she learn in those 30 seconds that changed her mind? She should have lost her job, or at least been suspended without pay.
And then she straight up refused to cuff Bertie even after he had to remind her "they're watching" TWICE. It's staggering how confident they feel behaving with such corruption and bias straight to their bodycams. I honestly don't even want to know what they got up to before now because I'm positive it's horrifying.

And no drunk person should get this treatment. Normal person would be in cuffs long before the 10 minute mark evidence of corruption without needing proof of those actions, called a dry snitch. And they are dry snitching on themselves
No, they're not. They're private citizens like the rest of us - and we should all set examples. No one is endowed on high because they're a cop or a soldier or a doctor or a whatever. We're all equally responsible for our personal lives and we're all equally vulnerable to screw them up. Cops are not employed to "set an example". They're employed to enforce the law. Which is exactly what the cops in this situation did. Quit expecting authority figures to set an example on how to live your life. You should set the example for them. @@aliwalker7667
The third one is blowing my mind!!! How?! Just howwww do you allow someone to keep their gun after trying to flee several times AND using it as intimidation inside?? Insanity.
I can't imagine what kind of cop would let anybody get away with brandishing a firearm during an interrogation. I don't care what position the guy holds, that's a very dangerous situation to potentially put your entire department in.
Not only that, but blubbering to the guy repeatedly about how much he "respects" him, even after being directly and clearly threatened for doing his job
That cop at the end should’ve been sacked immediately! The entitlement of this man is unbelievable, plus he was clearly threatening the guy processing him which in itself says what a revolting character he is.
Imagine a civilian saying to a cop “that doesn’t have to read what it reads” after they’ve taken the PBT test. The cop would be laughing his ass off as he handcuffed you.
For someone who has already had my license taken for drink driving and had a 14 month ban with a fine on top this angers me to see cops trying to get away with drink driving using their authority and power as an excuse not to get arrested. Just arrest him and take his license the same as you would anyone else.
This is infuriating to watch, this is not how I got treated at all. This gang mentality police have is crazy. “It’s not the like old days” Fucking cops are constantly moralizing and then when they get caught with a DUI they just bitch. No cuffs, no being fired. I’d love to see footage of the first cop arresting someone for a dui and see how much sympathy he had for them
I feel you. Due to complications with the cop that took my mother's breath test, she ended up not having her license for 5+ years. on top of that becasue of said complications, her court date kept getting pushed back. She only got her license january of 2023. that dui happened when I was in middle school, I'm 23 now.
That officer in the first clip was holding the breathalyzer up to her body cam on purpose. She was clearly worried she was going to be ordered to look the other way and was building her defense in case that happened.
What aggravates me the most about the first cop and the drunk driving situation is that that second sheriff literally took so much time contemplating the situation I bet he literally sat there thinking about all the different angles of what would happen if he tried to brush this off. And that makes me mad even more cuz that means he has a corrupt enough mind to go through all those scenarios instead of doing the right thing within the first 60 seconds of finding out he was drunk. He should have had the cuffs on that man long before 5 minutes of explanation and begging
Least the first one was pulled over on his own accord and was extremely apologetic, and owned up to his fault. The other two were complete and utter arrogant arsehole
@@rainscratch 100%. This is why body cameras are so important. Because cops have demonstrated time and time again they lack the ability to hold each other accountable. It’s that single piece of proof that prevented them from sweeping it under the rug and lying on a report to let him go.
I never understood it, they should be glad to catch their own because they are weeding out the week. If you allow someone to stay doing what their doing that’s not “loyalty” it’s you being too weak
And went as far as to let him GESTURE AND JUST ABOUT GRAB said gun while being detained. Crazy how comfortable they are around each other; but if a stranger did this they'd throw the book at them to the fullest extent or fill them with lead 😒
The way the 2nd drunk cop got out of the car after she told him she was detaining him actually looked intimidating and challenging. Good thing she had her body cam on.
She clearly had no fear of him because she knew him. I doubt he would have done anything because there was witnesses that despite his drunkness he still knew where watching him. She should have treating him like a suspect and possible threat but refused to. If anything she put herself in any danger if there was any. And im not saying this because she a woman because a male officer in the same situation would be just as wrong.
@@batxkissedSad is an overreaction, worst case scenario he’s arguing with some dude who’s opinion doesn’t matter. “Not because she’s a woman” is hardly a new convention.
The first duo wanted so badly to let that guy go. They were stuck because they got a specific call and didn't know how much the caller recorded. Everyone in that second group from the police department should be arrested for what they did to that other motorist. Her 'integrity' was only self protection. And the death stare that the sergeant gave because she had to cuff her buddy was all you need to know as a citizen.
Imagine you caught your best friend, the one you've bled and sweat together, stealing. What, you'll just turn him in? Think about that real hard. It doesn't excuse the cop's behavior, because as sworn LEOs they should be held to a standard, but it sure as heck makes it understandable.
I'm sure Jerry had no idea at all that given enough time a person's Breathalyzer readout would be 0.00 -cops love playing dumb when it's them being held accountable for their action
My jaw is on the floor with the third one. When I took my CCW class here on the east side of Cleveland, one of the biggest things they drove through our minds was that you never touch your gun in the presence of an officer. When you get stopped, you leave your hands highly visible and calmly inform the officer you are exercising your 2A and have a concealed firearm, describe its location, and let them know you will follow whatever orders they give. And, if they order you to touch your gun for some reason, confirm with them as it is a felony in the state of Ohio. The fact this officer brazenly lifted his shirt and placed his hand directly on his weapon as an intimidation tactic... and he didn't lose his job? Ridiculous. What makes it even worse is the background on this situation - this was a Bratenahl city detective who was on stakeout duty in East Cleveland (they are neighboring towns.) He had this amount of kit in his vehicle because he was on official duty.
Oh yeah and he knew that, too. He was definitely making veiled threats, even tho they were surely empty, that's I guess just how he operates. As a cop. SCARY guy.
@@tradexvoid no it’s actually law. By no means is gun on your hip a reason to taze you. People aren’t obligated to tell officers their carrying at traffic stops ecspecially
I love how the first officer is treated like a human being the entire time. If that was a regular citizen he would've been in cuffs and on his chest until other officers arrived...
This infuriates me. I moved to a small town in Arizona. I found out shortly after moving here that the entire Town police force with the exception of two cops was going down. The local police chief and all the other officers except two cops that were previously fired by the chief for not turning a blind eye were on the take. The Chief and his men were shaking down everyone who came through this town. They got greedy and started shaking down the locals then everyone was made aware. What makes this worse isn't that they were caught and punished. The residents of this town are paying lawsuits out the ass while the Officers involved are sitting in prison paying for nothing. We can no longer support town events. We are having to shut down the town courthouse. Loosing our Judge due to lack of funds. We have to drive over an hour to handle any legal business we have. Our Fire Department is in Jeopardy. I'm not saying the two offices who sued for damages don't deserve their jobs back and compensation. I'm just saying it sucks that everyone in town is paying for this ef up. It's not fair We now have two millionaire cops that stood for the right thing and moved elsewhere with their millions. Our Police Department is made up of Rookie kid cops who rotate out after a year. This town will be paying for the wrong doings of these Cops for the next hundred years. It Sucks!!
This is what people don't understand. Some people seem to think when people dislike cops it's just because "well, they must be up to no good. Why would you complain about the police if you weren't guilty for something!?" When in reality it's because it's EXPENSIVE, it is monetarily expensive but it is also expensive in other ways, it erodes faith in our police force. Which, I don't like cops for other reasons but I understand things would be better *if they* were better. Yeah, I get why the two would want to move out. Probably not their favorite town after some shit cops fired them for not turning a blind eye, but still. Take all the towns money and leave? That sucks. Hope your town makes it.
@@SuperMrHiggins I think it's a bit more nuanced than that. There are good cops, there are bad cops, they're only human. Good cops are generally those seeking to better their communities to make it a safer place for everyone. Bad cops are people seeking authority and power over others, and consider themselves either above the law or the law itself. Generally, anyone could be a good cop and do a bad thing, or a bad cop and do a good thing. It's a spectrum, just like good and evil in a general sense. No one is 100% evil and no one is 100% good. People should be held accountable, but there's only so much outsiders can do. Truth is that true accountability comes from inside an organization and inside yourself. If police officers held each other accountable, if friends, neighbors, family, co-workers, republicans, democrats, and everyone else held thier group members accountable, the world would be a better place. If we can't hold ourselves and all of our friends and acquaintances accountable, there might as well be no accountability at all.
I’ve been arrested and jailed for various reasons ranging from failure to appear in court to public intoxication in my youth. I even turned myself in to pay down several tickets at one point. Not exactly proud of it. Never once did I ever beg and plea for mercy like worm seen in the first video. It’s disgusting to see and I’m ashamed for him and his family.
That's because you weren't in a position that, due to a lack of accountability, made you feel untouchable. You'd be begging if you thought you were going to lose your legal invincibility, but you didn't beg because we've been living under these jackbooted thugs' police state our whole lives.
