SCP 001 is an Apollyon Class anomaly also known as When Day Breaks.
SCP 087 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Stairwell.
SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. Upon contact with visible light produced by SCP 001, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling melted wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.
SCP-087 is an unlit platform staircase. Stairs descend on a 38 degree angle for 13 steps before reaching a semicircular platform of approximately 3 meters in diameter. Descent direction rotates 180 degrees at each platform. The design of SCP087 limits subjects to a visual range of approximately 1.5 flights. A light source is required for any subjects exploring SCP-087, as there are no lighting fixtures or windows present. Lighting sources brighter than 75 watts have shown to be ineffective, as SCP-087 seems to absorb excess light.
Subjects report and audio recordings confirm the distressed vocalizations from what is presumed to be a child. The source of the distress calls is estimated to be located approximately 200 meters below the initial platform. However, any attempts to descend the staircase have failed to bring subjects closer to the source.

I did not know that the face in the stairwell could text. That actually makes it even scarier. At first I thought it was a being that happens to be guarding the stairwell and will approach those that go a certain distance, but now it seems that it can intentionally lure people there.

Without the ghost causing trouble 087 probably safe haven during When Day Breaks since light don't reach very far in it and the further down you go the longer it would take to go back to the top (naturally not unnaturally). Greatest issue would be supplies.

It might be a safe haven even if the ghost causes some trouble cause if you stay at the top of the stairs with another person you'd be safe for a while and the ghost might not bother you that high up!

@@Im_Local I don't think that ever been completely proven since most test down 087 were explorations to see how deep it goes, not the extent to how high up the ghost appear. And since most of the time the spirit seems to try and scare people out of the staircase since 2/3 of cases ended up being chased up the stairs, so unless it wants you to go deeper it probably want you to leave but if it wants you to stay that's not a good thing either considering the mystery of what happened to those that were chased down the steps.

There's also one more factor to considered. Most explorations Foundation had done with 087 involved D-Class, some of which admitted don't do well with children when they hear the spirit crying like a child. What if those that use 087 to hide in When Day Breaks are among the population who would go toward the sound of the cries if they think the child is in trouble and/or lost. Or worse 087 finds away to lead the person down further like it did with that college student.

But can we admit, at the very least, that IF you knew about 087 (Foundation employee or whatever) that you might be able to camp out with a few buddies for a few days at the top of the stairs? That would be an interesting story. Like some Mobile Task force assigned to 087 camped out there with supplies and lasted a few days while 087 slowly picked off one by one until the last finally can't stand it and makes a break from 087 just as an amorphous blob catches him and drags him into the light.

If you want the most comprehensive and engaging "When Day Breaks" story ever written, then read "One Helluva Broken Day" by TheSilentAssassin on AO3. It's also a crossover with Helluva Boss, one of the most popular cartoon series on RU-vid right now. The whole thing is incredible, but this is my favorite part: "I really hope whoever was in charge of this investigation is still alive so I can kick their ass...I don't give a shit how big the fish was, how do you miss that one of the most popular pop stars has some kind of connection with demons?!?!" Bright yelled in exasperation as he read the part of the file he had initially discarded as being unimportant, the part dealing with the massive sex scandal in the local police department while mentioning NOTHING about the very famous singer they had just arrested. For anyone who has seen Helluva Boss episode 3, you will know what Dr. Bright is talking about.

I'd assume it'd be cuz of some sort of a cosmic horror looking to destroy humanity. There was an SCP that had Sol protecting the Milky Way from entities beyond the mortal plane, wasn't there?

This kind of reminds me of a chapter in Stephen King's _The Stand_ that details deaths of survivors of the disease that wiped out most of the population. Not everybody was killed by the virus, but the aftermath caused a lot of destruction too. Luckily there was no creepy staircases in that book though. I think I'd take my chances with Captain Trips than SCP-087.

This video had chills running up my spine and the beginning part made me walk up to my window and close the blinds. I can't wait to see more videos regarding certain SCP's and what they would do if day broke, so here are some suggestions: You guys could do a video on SCP-073 and SCP-076 When Day Breaks, and or what SCP-4975 would do and how it would hunt if day broke. Also, some other suggestions for just SCP analysis videos are SCP-169 "The Leviathan", SCP-4959 "The Teotihuacan Pterodactylactery", SCP-163 "An Old Castaway", SCP-875 "War Criminals", SCP-3700 "The Tides Of War", and if you did SCP-3700 you could do a Part 2 episode explaining SCP-4700 "Orkney Rising". Also, maybe you could do SCP-6004 "The Rainbow Serpent" (Like this comment so they see my suggestions please & thank you)

if i got in this situation, id reccomend the scp foundation to just colonize scp 3008, it has infinite furnature and food. so you can just live in there. plus, with the technology the scp foundation has, we could probably make the place secure and safe enough to where the staff aren't a threat, so we could just abandon earth and also not have to worry about the other scps that are being secured

I'd like to know what the Stairwell entity would do to the creations of When Day Breaks. A best-case scenario would be mutual complete annihilation... which seems unlikely, since it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get all of the blobs into the stairwell at the same time.

Imagine if someone actually punched the ghost back instead of the regular fear response of freeze or flight, someone chose fight instead. Cause I don't know about you but if I was in this guy's situation the second I see the entity I would go into a rage and start shouting "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER" all while trying to harm the entity

I think You can't. Theres Just No way a human could respond in Anger in that situation. You felt a deep Sense of Dread, pressing your Heart. You can barely, See your Hands in the unnatural darkness and now youve found a smartphone, broken and Out of Energy. It belonged to the one who Texted You Just now. No one would be angry there. They would be done so. Many would faint. Many would cower Into a Corner, now surely to die. Most would run Up again, away from whats waiting down there or what really Texted You. And after Seeing the face, the only illuminated Thing in the entire staircase, nah, Lights Off Mate. Theres No fighting back

I'm pretty sure it's designed to make sure you are afraid in the kind of way where you would be most paralyzed should you venture down. Assuming this is the first time we've seen the stairs being able to communicate outside of its usual appearance, I imagine that it takes the effort of doing the most unnerving thing to the victim that it can, in this case, the abduction and thereby shock/horror of realizing they were lead to a trap.

How would any anomaly that can change bodies like dr bright react to 001 If dr bright gets melted and has the amulet taken (the host would be under the 30 days permanent period) would the host die and would dr bright act like a flesh monster if the necklace is moved Or if the necklace is put to an existing flesh monster, would dr bright be able to control it normally or be influenced by the sun? Ngl i kinda wanna see what happens if these questions were also tested with 008 and 610

Correction: Moonlight will have the same affect as sunlight. The only way those characters will get to SCP-087 if they covered every last bit of their flesh.

@@xwarockx3959 The official SCP logs says that moonlight has the same affect at sunlight. This is due to the fact how the sun is still the source of the light but it's reflected off the moon.

I feel like the stairwell would still be a boon to enough survivors. If incredibly large groups of people just overran the stairwell and occupied more and more space that ghost guardian would provably just call it quits. Either that or keep the door open and let the fleshy things in to take care of it out of spite

What never understood is how the sun suddenly was like "ya know what? Fuck you!" To earth, and also why/how it turns people into the monsters. Im pretty sure thats part of the scenerio, no one knows how or why its happening, but id like something to work with at least.

My explenation/theory. Moonlight is just sunlight reflected off the moon so still dangerous. The shade is a... Lack of light so there is no light there... maybe? Or the info dump character powers kicked in?

The problem with this SCP entry is this: it really isn't as dangerous as they make it out to be. At least, not to half the planet. By the time the planet rotated enough past the initial 0 hour point, the news would be filled with it, and only the unlucky, the slow, or the stubborn would actually be caught in it. Anywhere between 40% and 60% of the world population would probably survive, including probably whole continents almost completely free of the flesh hives, warned far enough ahead of time to get under cover. It eould certainly suck for this to happen...but it isn't nearly as humanity ending as it has been made out to be.
