When did Country Music stop sounding Country? Well, it's a fascinating question, and a not-so-simple one to answer. We need to agree on what sounds country and what doesn't but that's totally doable. The harder part might be in understanding WHY country music changed, and WHY it continues to sound less and less "Country" every decade. So, let's take a deeper look and start to get this mess sorted out.

I'm 78. I remember when the sound changed. You are correct, it was the Nashville sound that changed Country forever. I pick and choose my "country" I listen to very closely now. As a child I caught the tail end of Bob Wills and Western Swing. Since I began dancing back in my 60's I have rediscovered him and his great dance music.

@@Ric613-u1c Bob Wills is one of my most favorite influences on country music. What country artists do you listen to today?

@@iHonkyTonk As I said, I'm very choosy on my "country"listening. Mostly the C&W classic. Overall my music is pretty eclectic and seems to focus on the dance styles I dance; blues, Cajun, Zydeco, foxtrot, ballroom 2step, waltz is a favorite of mine and of course swing. Early Rock n Roll is always on the list as is Rockabilly. Being a child of the 50's, 60's, and a bit of the 70's that music time trips back to my youth and Navy days.

In my opinion, current country music is not that great sounding and that's why I will forever and always give a lot of love to the guys and gals that created the classic style that I love and miss hearing. When I grew up in the 80s, there was a select few of classic country singers that were in their prime like say: Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, among others. Alan Jackson is the epitome of classic country from the 90s and his songs are awesome to listen to still today. Awesome video, my friend!!!!!!!!!!!! -MG
