大阪環状線 | The Osaka Loop Line is the heart of Osaka’s central business district, with a daily ridership of over 1 million people, the Osaka Loop line has served it’s city stretching as far back as 1889. In this episode we’re going to go back to the beginning, and take a look at some of the history, and facts, that have made the Osaka loop Line what it is today.

My home ground, bro. Been here since 1987, when Osakajo-koen station was new and people still called JR KOKUTETSU. Thanks for the very cool vid. I have seen men expose themselves and women blame men for groping on the Osaka Loop Line.

Another excellent video. This line has a special place in my heart because (apart from the train ride in the from the airport), it was the first line I travelled on in Japan and it suitably blew my mind :)

Thanks Jonathan. Most visitors first impressions of Japan are experienced on the train system. I remember arriving at Ueno Station for the first time. I had to stop and take a moment and let it all sink in. 10 years later it's still sinking in lol.

So sophisticated one!! And story about the elevation of JNR Osaka station , and ‘dis-elevation’ of Hankyu Umeda station in 1934 is also interesting to see! I really recommend.

Thanks for watching, Kathy Kiyooka. Yes Osaka Station has a long deep history, I think it was elevated in the 1930s. This dis-elevation of Hankyu i didn't know about. I'll have to look onto it.

Yes true. I still don't understand how they elevated Osaka station lines and lowered Hankyu and kept both of them running. Osaka station started sinking straight away.

My memories of riding the Osaka Loop Line was pretty short. I used it to transfer from the Chuo Subway Line at Bentencho to Nishi-kujō to get to Universal Studios. Recently I have been into train melodies and I just found out around 2015 or 2016 they introduced departure melodies to all stations. The melodies seem to have something to do with the stations and surrounding areas.

When I was in Osaka I mostly rode on the Midosoji Metro line as I was based in Shin-Osaka.

Hi kstar. Thanks for watching mate. I'm glad you like them as I do making them. The railway line episodes always take longer, about 2 months to make. Next one will be non rail,ike Tokyo Tower.

Nice. A couple of errors I noticed. The map shows the Nishinari line spelt as Nishinahara line (e.g. 1:53). And at around 3:28, you have Kansei Line 西成線 2.2km. I think the Japanese for Kansei line (or Kansai line, both are correct) would be 関西線.

Thanks, Ijon Tichy. You have an good eye for detail. Sometimes I'm blind to basic mistakes. In one of my last videos I spelt Shibuya wrong and it was in English.

The section between the after Inamiya Station right to Namba station is on underground, was that section used to be on the ground-level?

Yes, aycea. This section used to be on the ground and was in operation since the late 1890s.

Hey CMRO. Yes the Midojusu Line is on the list. Maybe later in the year. It was the first public funded subway in Japan and second to be built after the Ginza Line.

Hi Trainzer. I've already done the Ginza and Marunouchi Lines and will do more. But the next few episodes will be non rail for a bit of a change. The line episodes take a long time to make about 2 months. Do you have a line you would like to see?

Lol xsanctom. Sorry about that. I know my Japanese pronunciation is a long way off and I've been trying through these to improve it with time. I'm a little tone deaf also so improvement will be slow.

I can see the loop line has went through struggles and a lot of improvements, especially with the 4th generation osaka station, My eyes were wide open as soon as i saw the department store lol

True, YDS. I didn't know that Osaka Station had been rebuilt so many times. My favourite was the second generation station building.
