@@TheJubilee 100% it totally makes sense. The only thing giving me the willies are those finger nails on bass strings. Although, looking at the close-ups, it seems that he's using flatwounds, which would make things a bit better. Nonetheless, it totally makes sense, and for the o.p. I completely agree with the horror + awe response - esp. coming from a bass player.
This is how Master Bass Fu Yung taught me to play though............. :( He told me this is the only way to play bass and if you don't play this way you are "Lost Like The Lily Pad In The Raging Pond During The Tsunami Season."
1. He is basically playing it like a 4 string guitar, while avoiding chords with more than two notes because those sound muddy on Bass. 2. Everything this dude does is impressive, but this looks like something I could learn, his other stuff looks like robot hands voodoo stuff.
I know what you mean, but there is no such thing like a proper technique, it only matters how the result sounds, and in this case it just sounds superb
@@gabrielblancarte5895 I know nobody asked but… I just noticed that the song he’s playing is September and *Right before I clicked* the video, I was just listening to that song on Spotify and then this showed up in my recommended. What a coincidence
I seriously don't understand why people like harsh metalic tinny tone or whatever it is called. His playing is amazing but personally i would prefer if he at least lowered the tone knob a little.
I both anticipate and dread watching your videos. I love them because I see the way a bass unbound can be, and I dread them because I feel like I shouldn't even be allowed to touch a bass after seeing how far from that skill level I am.
edit:Lol didnt think a comment with lyrics would blow up Do you remember The 21st night of September? Love was changin' the minds of pretenders While chasin' the clouds away Our hearts were ringin' In the key that our souls were singin' As we danced in the night, remember How the stars stole the night away, oh, yeah Hey, hey, hey Ba-dee-ya, say, do you remember? @@sonicsupersam7793 Nah, they had some different notes/style goin on. Not sure if that was a creative choice or what but it was at the very least, slightly different than Earth Wind and Fires version. Plus it was shorter, gotta hear the full song after hearing it. Otherwise they're just teasing me.
As a beginning bass player who just chose bass over guitar, I can respect this type of playing, but this is the exact type of bass player I don't want to be. Respect to those who make it work, but I've seen dozens of Guitar players fail to translate their skills over to bass, this youtuber actually did an awesome job, I'll admit that.
