“Should we be putting whole communities on our back” Nope, I don’t think so at least. I can understand why it feels like a good thing, but it often comes at the cost of looking out for yourself as well. If you’re genuine in who you are, and kind at heart, then you can recognize that truly helping others involves helping yourself to get to where you’re able to help those around you. I think the reason why most white people wouldn’t say something like that, is because most of them were taught at an early age that skin color is just surface level, and so they don’t keep a mentality of sticking together by race, at least. Except the actual racist ones, cause they truly think they’re at risk or something lol. That’s not to say we don’t have our own prejudices, reinforced through life experience, cause we all do, but that’s where I’d say it’s every person’s job to reflect on their experiences and determine what ideas are harmful to them or not, and most people don’t.
