Love love the letter. I still do that so my partner can respond in their own time, and I cover everything without being interrupted. THEN, work on sitting down and having proper conversations so my partner can get comfortable opening up and not shutting down.

I agree with those points for the most part, and I watch most of your videos. I'm usually a supportive person, but this is hard, especially if you've dealt with someone who is not only emotionally unavailable but whom you've also supported in every way through your own pain. When you need him the most, it’s particularly challenging while also healing from the pain of a past relationship with a narcissist.

Spot on Stephan! Especially the part about not making his issues about her. And as long as it's not him going through the motions so she ends up taking some of the blame, thinking he will too and that they will have growth happen in the relationship, but then he doesn't really do anything different and he just wanted her to continue waiting, and keep conforming to him and stop asserting her need for emotional intimacy.

Avoidedent with childhood trauma and past relationship. I said after a year I didn't want to be an option and he wished me well and blocked me.. I'm a fearful avoidant.. I chased..been 3 months since he left and blocked. He just want to be single.. Which is fine with me not looking for a spouse I just don't want to be an option.. So he sent me on my way..

My husband is soon to be x in a few weeks. Left while I was at work . Won't talk, so nothing, but let him go. It was not worth my mental stability to be with his shutting me out in every way. He was more attached to his x lady friends than me . He wouldntvopen up or talk he left, and through his friends, he said he wanted peace . So abandoned me without any discussion 💔 😪

I am tired of all this babying men, you are expected to play games, reparent the man, he is a grown up, I am not his mother, and do not want to be his mother. It seems to me, men want the same relationship they had with their mother only they want it with benefits, they want you to treat them like they are a special little man, they need to put on their grown up pants and be an adult. Emotionally broken men need counseling because I cannot pander to his feeling when he behaves like a little boy. Women are asked to turn all these flips for men who should have learned that wives are not mothers. Stephan these are great tips and suggestions, BUT… women also need to remember that you are not there to be his counselor, mother therapist or internship so he can get it right with someone else. That is what many women struggle with. Being honest and open about what your needs are and accepting personal responsibility for one’s part in the connection together is what really matters.

I'm afraid that a message like this adds another layer for a woman to do more labor and stay longer in toxic relationship. This approach comes off very black and white. I guess I’m not fully understanding or clear what wholeness means to you here. My brain understanding your perspective as men needing to be “perfect”. I just wonder where there is room for growth and understanding that life can knock someone down for many reasons even during the dating process/beginning of a relationship--I knew someone who lost a child from a previous marriage that shattered him. They were able to work through it but I just wonder is this person considered not whole?

I never said perfect. To the commenters…being whole is loving yourself first before knowing how to love someone else… being happy and complete within. Do the internal work before engaging another person. Being emotionally available is a must in order for the relationship to work..not self-seeking. A relationship is sacrificial and a partnership, two active participants being a steward over each other for The Lords greater purpose. Follow this road map for success if you want a strong foundation in marriage. The End.

I wonder what your thoughts are regarding a partner becomes emotionally unavailable and loses sight of their purpose and who they are during the course of the relationship, does this make this person no longer whole or worthy of that relationship? I’m fascinated by this. Loving oneself can be impacted by life. Happiness is fleeting and can fluctuate. Feeling complete can fluctuate too depending on life circumstances. I guess I do wonder if grace comes into play and at what point is it really “the end”. When someone is struggling for 3 months? 6 months? 1 years? 2 years?

I've already dealt with this and last year was crazy for me with my mental health. So with that being said I have remained single trying to take care of my mental health. One thing I can say from experience is don't give yourself freely to someone who does not value you or someone who you cannot trust at the first sign of a red flag address it once if they dont change let it go early on don't stay it will.cause your mental stress and I'm done with dating all these people who want to play games the longer you stay in toxic relationship the harder it is to move on . A year of being single has taught me that it scary in this dating field we have to let Jesus Lead. I just decided to remain single till I got on right medicine and got myself a job. Which I have done so I'm focusing on me but I am not going to just date anyone

@debrastewart6275 yeah trust me dating someone toxic will end you in mental hospital trying to let go of someone you've been holding on to someone who is mentally hurting you it's not worth it or at least not for me cause I have bi polar type 1 and breaking up with my ex caused me to go into mania which is hard for us to break up with someone we want to fix but there is no fixing stupid cause honestly I was stupid to deal with him for 3 years I'm stress free now and doing well

@debrastewart6275 I totally agree and it makes it hard when you have a chronic illness cause I had depression for 7 months then went I to mania it was crazy last year I had not been taking care of myself and was putting my ex above everything including my health from stressing over what he wad doing . I had to learn the hard way it's hard enough to deal with toxic things then you suffer from within. I battle my illness but I got it under control by finding a medicine that works for me .

This helps I was the one understanding and trying to find a resolve. Never attacked him and tried to help him through what I knew the issue was about and it was not so much me per se but it heavily involved his kids and the BM not allowing him to have any access to them. So much so till she tried to put him in jail. He was cool even still but at some point when our very normal relationship issues came up. It was like it amplified what he felt already. And he would lash out at me when he got frustrated. So I would have to try and regulate my emotions in order to get to the root of a problem. Until he no longer wanted to talk and shut completely down. At the end I would get triggered and I had to walk away. But now I actually get it. This hurts and I now i understand. Dealing with a fragile man is difficult, we lasted a year but I was proud of myself for being able to work with him to understand through that time. It just came to be a lot feeling like I had to regulate his emotions and also mine. Which is a very difficult to do.

I'm the emotionally unavailable one in the relationship. Stephan knows what's up cuz all these reasons are why I didn't communicate. I still struggle with even wanting to be emotionally present in the relationship at all but through therapy has at least let me communicate effectively. Well see how it goes

After trying and trying on the woman’s side, when frustrated and ready to throw in the towel.. that’s when he wants to finally try. And I get giving appreciation to his efforts, but consistency is what helps the trust. He can’t try a few times and say that was unappreciated if he is not consistent and goes back to his ways.

Me and my husband are going through a miscarriage and when I received the news I blamed him for not being emotionally there for me. My husband says I have my own issues too but I’m not the best at taking accountability. I’ve been telling my husband that I feel god is silent right now but this video came to me right when I was feeling hopeless. Stephan, all due respect, i should never have to be his psychologist honestly. Men need to go for professional help before they get into ANY relationship. Im tired of having to bail men out in the relationship, only for him to up and marry another woman! What's that all about? I invested and sacrificed so much time, money, my emotions, my family and friends. And i did all this in total love. Am i his mother? Who backs me in my own emotional issues? Where do i turn? God never gave woman to man to be an emotional psychologist...woman is mans' COMPANION... What do companions do to each other? Im real mad right now😢😢

Emotionally unavailable men are raised by dysfunctional parents. My problem is that we never tell the parents how to raise emotionally intelligent children. We just put the blame on the person who suffers. Parents need to be better for their children. The world suffers when parents become lazy.

I was midway into listening to your video until I got into an accident which was not my fault and I’m OK by the way. Pulled over to the side of the road and two guys are arguing back-and-forth with each other. I’m surprised at how come I am at this moment, being as though I am going through some things, the gentleman had gave me his number and told me that I can be a witness. He left then 20 minutes after that another guy had showed up he was somebody that I used to talk to about two years ago an old friend how things happen now I’m gonna finish listening.

I am going out with one that is emotionally unavailable but he is such a gentleman. He open the doors, hold my hand in public. He started kissing me in public and sometimes I do it back to him. I have a question I wish I can right him on dm but I no longer have social media (because of my ex) but I know you tell us key points on knowing if he is good or bad.. But in my situation, this man did EVERYTHING right in the beginning he did all the key things you spoke about what a man SHOULD do for a woman to differentiate from the other dudes who aren't good for us. Ladies, society teaches men to be emotionally unavailable from the time they're 5 or 6 years old. Men aren't allowed to cry. Men aren't allowed to complain. They're told to shut up and get over it. They're told that men don't show emotions. Men tell other men not to show emotions. Women tell men not to show emotions. Don't act like you all haven't seen mothers who tell their sons, "Quit all that crying!" The phrase "man up" was always used until around 5 years ago. Society does not create emotionally available men because they were raised by parents who learned that they didn't have to care about the feelings of their kids.

I just had a baby 2 weeks ago. Thru my whole pregnancy i recived no hugs no kisses no affection no sex no cuddling. NOTHING while im bussing my ass at wrk pregnant doing doubles paying all the bills in the house 😢. The Playstation got more attention then me. When we started dating he told me he had emotional issues but i had no clue how deep they were . Ive also have been being disrespected thru out the relationship. I have been patient because of his emotional issues which stemed from trauma and also him being in a gang where he had to cut off all emotions. Ive been nothing but a good women to him but i cant take the lack of emotions and the disrespect any longer. I love him but i love myself more and i will not allow my children to witness the disrespect .
