You know, he's always just hurting her. Even if he's trying to protect her by doing all of these in front of other people it's still too much - it still hurting her. He's trying to protect her but he's the one who's hurting her. This made her lonely and felt unloved.

🤬 okay! All through this drama the prince misjudges, punishes, and mistreats the princess "for her own good... to protect her", but never never receals this to her! Actions speak louder than words and I feel he uses this EXCUSE to justify his wrong doings! Her life with him is miserable at best and his inconsistently becomes unbearable... he kills her family and those she loves! He knows Sese is vicious but by his actions he favors her and sets her ABOVE his wife!!

Then you missed the point entirely. No he wasn't making excuses to justify his wrong doing. What does he gain by mistreating her? He is publicly harsh to her because he has to get those scheming against him and actively watching his every move to believe that he doesn't care about Xiao Feng. Once they know, especially the empress, they will try to harm her or use her against him. The issue is he got so deep into the act that he doesn't even know how to act around even when he is trying to have a regular conversation they end up arguing. Ultimately his actions are to protect her and he never got to properly explain that to her afterwards because she wouldn't allow him to.

Thats why XF lost trust in LCY ; he doesnt confide in her and keeps on favouring Sese and suddenly upon his confession otherwise expects XF to understand and forgive his actions; he never even said sorry !
