Buddha and Jesus,both did great sacrifice men ever done . Buddha gave up his kingdom and lived in the wood most of his life to teach us about cause and effect of our material life. Jesus allowed himself to be crucified and died a painful death for men sin.

I am a Christian, I believe in God and Jesus but I also believe that God would not build only one path that would lead to him but many. so it's up to the individual as long as long you are pure in heart then it's fine.

Ama Nyarko amen O Arjuna all paths lead to me even if they pray to other Gods it leads to me Lord Krishna this intolerance only my God no other God etc have created so much death and destruction to mankind today we see the u tube of Isis TAliban killing disbelievers exactly how the Christians acted I don't deny Jesus is a Christ but millions of Christs came before and after Jesus you have to evolve into your own Buddha your own Christ

Ama Nyarko I acknowledge your sincerity sister but if you beleive in Jesus you would believe in his words...we cant twist His words to suit our philosophy...the bible is God breathed and preserved. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh as claimed in John chapter 1. His ways are higher than our ways....He created everything that was ever created...There are many false gods and unless you truly accept Christ as Lord and saviour of your soul then you will always lean on your emotions to determine truth rather than let truth convict you and change you....the sinless blood of the lamb alone has the power to wash our sins. so that when God sees us he sees us washed in the blood of Christ (pure blood) and no longer counts our sin against us....Get into the word of God sister and find true bible believing Christians to love on you and help you along otherwise every wind of doctrine and philosophy will deceive sound reasonable. In Christ we have the fullness of life imparted to us...

i am not a Christian but a Blessed Jew. i don't believe these stories of buddists and jesus it all a bunch of bull taught probably to buddists by whte christians and the ignorant buddists ate it up. they are an un realistic people they live in cocker roach infested apartments i would never rent to one. they dont realize if you don't have hunter for different wild animals at diferent places and time the animals will suffer 1000 fold then being hunted b/c you dont know that they will all starve and an animal starving is the worse pain and suffering for the animal. so go and ponder on that with you thinking that not culling by hunters they will die in a way no animal or human should , starvation so give us a break with your yellow women's wear

Nice explanation. I was a buddhist 10 yrs ago, I converted to Christianity because I was convinced in Jesus's teaching. However, after years of reading the bible, I discovered problems of strong doubt especially on the old testament: 1.It makes no sense to me that the shed of animal's blood were used for sin atonement (old testament). Animals in Christianity are considered to be managed by human beings, and can be slaughtered as food. They dont go to either realms, hell or heaven after death. 2.It is God's order that people who worked on the sabbath day were punishable by death. The bible accounted one person was stoned to death for that. I find this is cruel. 3.Genocide in the old testament like (1 samuel 15:3, book of Joshua, etc) where children and animals were slaughtered as well. God commanded the killing as a form of punishment for years of evil practice and waging war against God's people by those tribes (amalakites and caananites). The part I cannot accept is that, why innocent infants and animals were included as well. Do they sin? Nonsense! I consulted my pastor and watched numerous christian apologist videos relating to that, the reason just doesnt make sense to me. Some says, when God sends disaster as a form of punishment for human sins, it becomes collateral damage for the surrounding. Some says it is punishment for the wicked tribes for not repenting after hundreds of years. Some says, those little wicked seeds will grow up doing the same sin as the previous generation did. Some says thats how God educated the israellites when they were still an early young nation, once they grow up to be a mature nation (takes place in the new testament) God incarnates in the human form which is Jesus bringing grace and love, no more eye for an eye law implemented. However, I find this is inconsistent with the teaching of loving your enemy (matthew 5:44). Either God in the old testament or new testament are the same essence , only appear in the different context of time. Unlike the Buddhism ahimsa (non violent) principle, it has always been consistent from the beginning to the end, thus Buddha never commanded killing as a form of punishment. Not a single story in the Buddhist scripture ever mentioned the right use of violence. 3. Anyone who dont accept Jesus as the only messiah will be judged by their sins and enter hell. Because Jesus is the only way to heaven. I have found numerous argument and reason by apologist for this. Some says, God is the ultimate judge whether atheist or non Christian enter hell or heaven. To me I dont see justice behind this law. Because think about it, not everyone is born with the choice to meet and be convinced by Jesus. Some are completey mentally disabled or crippled, some choose other belief due to not knowing which one is the true religion out of the diversity of religions. Some says, the soul will simply be perished once they die, they neither go to hell or heaven. 4.Existence of eternal hell. Human beings or sentient beings shall always be given chances to repent for their sins, if hell is designed to be eternal, where is the love and justice by God? Most people commit evil practice or deeds out of ignorance, often too late to repent during living, if they are cast in eternal hell for that, it sounds to me too cruel. Unlike the buddhist realms of existence within the circle of life and death, they all have a span of life, or time. Any hell or heaven is not eternal. Only if they reach the state of nibbana, they will no longer be reborn. 5.Everyone born in this world with different conditions, are all destined and created by God for a reason. Some are born completely poor and crippled, some are born rich and good looking. However I find the reason which suits my logic the most is the existence of reincarnation. The cause and effect law. Christians are against this law, because the bible says life is only once, and Jesus is the only way to heaven. However I find karma and reincarnation is what explains the justice of the universal law. 6.Abrahamic religions, especially christians and islam have been engaged in endless debates and confrontation for hundreds of years. I find islam is evil in the deeper doctrine which wage war against unbeliever for not converting or paying jizyah (ransom). Roman catholic and islam fought during the crusades. Nowadays, islam is becoming even more violent, however I find not few christians triggered their temperament to start violence as well. Unlike buddhist, hindus, and jainist who live in peace with each other. Not debating each other's doctrine.

It was a great pleasure to listen to this discussion. We can then be quite sure that one of the biblical Magicions was a Buddhist. Time to realise that we all are responsable for the Peace in this poor, tired World. Jasmuheen (if you know her) has decided to be an Ambassador of Peace, You are also such Ambassadors. Finally found such great folks, thank you. Well, Budda would'nt take any wine at Cana Galilee, but He would probably still be delighted to meet Jesus anyway...:-) with Love

"I am free of parental "control" if I am not a son of God." AB said this very simply and candidly, and the audience responded accordingly as I did ... with laughter. Control, whether it comes from a "divine " being or from each other is like a leg on a triangular table that keeps it standing. Remove it and the table becomes a backrest. Remove the other two legs, it becomes a table again or a bed to sleep on. And the legs can be made into cooking or eating utensils. Control keeps us bounded. What do you suppose are the other two legs?

An individual approached the Blessed one and asked !! “The inner tangle and the outer tangle- GENERATIONS( ie,..Hindus vs Muslims,Jews vs Christians,Muslims vs Jews) are entangled in a tangle. And so I ask of Gotama this question: Who succeeds in disentangling this tangle? ( Tangle ..Network of craving .. CRAVING upon wealth, career sexual desires, hate,ill-will the lead to suffering ) Load Buddha replied When a wise man, established well in VIRTUE , Develops consciousness and understanding, Then as a bhikkhu ardent and sagacious He succeeds in disentangling this tangle” Please download the book free, 'Path of Purification' (Visuddhimagga) was written , elaborating the answer given by Load Buddha , why we suffer ? Jayath Vidanage Wrong. Genesis makes very plain the judeo-Christian explanation of what brought sin into the world. Please notice it is Judeo-christian, NOT buddhist-judeo or Buddhist-Christian. The reason for this is the familiarity between the Abrahamic religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Scholars do not include any other religions in this (though sects are mentioned). But, there is the tradition that God said if you seek him, you *will* find him. And that path is between yourself and God. Anyone who judges you is in error. "And these three abide: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love." Phillipians It should be more noticed by Christians that it is not faith that is considered the greatest, but love. So, Ajahn Brahm is correct is his assessment.

The Essenes which was the group Jesus and John the Baptist are most linked too and also the tradition that influenced the practice of western monasticism found in Christianity all were influenced around 200 BC from Ashokian Editcs. King Ashoka in India sent traders and missionaries all around the civilized world. Hi empire and influence was just as big if not bigger than Roman Empire. All the trade with Rome as well in textiles from India was well known. Anyway the Essenes did believe in animal sacrifice. Anyway where did the essenes ideas come from? there was influence at the time Essenes formed from Ashokian movements. Therefore maybe Jesus and Buddha did sort of dialog in the sense Buddhist thought was already having influence to start many of the thought and also practices of the early Christians.

@Darren I appreciate your spiritual beliefs, I do want to say that the stuff I am researching is historical records of Ashokan empire and a lot of that history was before not really discussed before in Western cultures, since the fall of Ashoke and the invasion of the Mogels into India. Ashoke was a very unique individual who influences all of south east Asian culture and India traded with Greece and roam and Egypt and had influence in the area. I am not really personally into mystical discussions as much and I never really got into Hinduism and all that kundalini stuff at all, but meet a lot of people who are into that. I'm mostly researching the silk road and the connections between cultures. And researching Jewish Culture and the context of the middle Eastern Essene movement is very interesting for it was a big change and a breakaway group at a time when it seems the Jews who before that were very spiritually and culturally homogenous were under a lot of pressure being occupied by Rome. That new Essene movement and through was building for a few hundred years before Jesus was born during the time of Ashoke.

My dear Brahm, you are talking as if it were really proven that there were Buddhists in Alexandria. But it is not so certain. And please, don't say that Jesus ever was in Egypt not even as a child. That is fiction. If he ever lived, he never left the small Galilee. The only scripture he ever knew was only the Old Testament. These statements" I am the way, the truth and life, are not his words, but later invented and put in his mouth.. There is not much similitude between Buddhism and Christianity. @kevphung
@kevphung 8 лет назад
Sorry Ihateregistrations1, I do not agree with your opinion. As a rational human being, I'm only stating the possibilities and look into the evidences through logical and scientific investigations and observations. As the old saying goes, believe in what they do not of what they say so I'm just putting more weight onto the Christian god's actions rather than his words. Furthermore, I don't put my thinking in the realm of positive (good) versus negative (bad) since such thinking do not advocate meaningful dialogues between different vantage points when discussing on the topic of religion. It simply places the followers of a religion in the trap of dogmatism and negating the important nature of relativism for what is positive to you does not mean positive to others such as some Christians believe Islam teaching is bad but vice versa in the view of some Muslims, for example. It's quite interesting that people find them, both, to believe in the same god but also feel this way let along when they think of a completely different religion. I'm not sure who is to be sorry here, it's the Christians or the Muslims? This proves my position in my statement about having meaningful dialogues. You don't have to feel sorry for me since in the same way I could have pitied you for throwing your mind/brain away and inviting preconditioned judgments for that you see others as bad thinkers such as myself when I don't agree with your perspective. Instead of thinking people like myself are "negative thinkers" and feel sorry for them, perhaps it would be best for you to think and judge of yourself first and not to put so much weight on positive/negative and think rather on the sphere of possibilities/probabilities.

The greatest trick Satan ever pulled was to convince the world he didn`t exist. You are, unfortunately, his victim, you are the victim of the Great Deception. Hebrews 4:12-13 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."

Do not afraid to expound the truth that the Buddha thought 2600 years ago. @SuperDukka the world is suffering becoz its full of sins. Heaven is a Holy Place where God lives. So never expect heaven on this earth. Everyone must face sufferings. Christians or non Christians are not gods all are sinners. If anyone wants to be free from eternal sufferings they should know their sins and hold on to Jesus the Saviour of the World who has come to share the Good News of Heaven. Those who believe in Him has eternal hope. God is waiting for the sinners to come to Him thru Jesus. Thats why the world is still sufferings becoz they delayed and rely in their own happiness and goodness.
