"When Johnny Comes Marching Home" (written in 1863) was a song which became popular in both the Union and Confederate States, during that long and awful war (1861-1865). This Garland clip is just small part of a medley of patriotic songs (most of them from the World War I era) which Judy so beautifully performed on this episode from her 1963-64 television show. This (in my view) was the high water mark of the entire series.
This 50 seconds contains the essence of what made Judy the most exciting entertainer we've ever had. Thank you as always Buzz for continuing to remind us who already love the lady of her genius as well as introducing her to the next generation. One thing is for certain, she's not going anywhere.
