I would suggest a vet visit. I understand that there could be some issues with that as: -Kane is a wolf dog and as I understand it not many vets would be willing to look at him -Kane’s anxiety could be a problem All of that said though, if all of those treatments you’re trying aren’t even showing a bit of effectiveness this seems like something that needs a professional opinion and treatment plan.
@H&K Since they have double coats use Dawn Antibacterial dishwashing liquid to wash them. That will get down to the skin the use apple cider vinegar as a dip after the wash and that should help out. Also get a product called 7 dust and spread it around your yard
Ivermectin actually does treat scabies. You can give it orally, and it takes care of worms too, including heart worms. I get a 50ml vial and squirt it in my dogs mouth. Oral route also treats scabies. A permethrin dip is also very effective against scabies. If I understand correctly, scabies is also found in wild critters, such as bunnies...
Oh, lord. I got scabies when I was little. I remember lying in bed covered head to toe in ointment for a few days and we had to deep clean e v e r y t h i n g fabric.
My woofs only had regular mites. Tho I have read that some folk have used oral ivermectin in 2 doses 7-14 days apart to kill them when they cover a large area because it is a parasite. It can be gotten in an edible horse paste at tractor supply. I am not a vet, so do your own research on the topic...Oh and btw you can get them from the pups as well.
I wish I could offer a solution for the mites/scabies, Dad, but I've never had to deal with them before, myself. Meanwhile, Kane's quest for burrowing snacks continues.
My kids brought scabies home from a friends house. Took a MONTH of showers and special medication to get rid of it. It sucked so bad since the whole household was itching like mad.
Some mites live IN the skin, not on it. I've experienced that situation with my dog for almost two months. Disgusting and painful for her. The vet helped me a lot. BUT, (yes there's a but) I've had to shave her. Believe me, no fun, for none of us. Finally she's ok now. Goog luck for your boys
tough spot to be in. there are no good options here. you may be facing a scorched earth scenario here my dude. not just cropping the coats of the animals but you'll probably need to do something about your yard too. that great abundance of food and habitat in your yard ain't lost on just the potato snacks.
6% Hydrogen peroxide or Copper Sulfate solution. But you'd have to wash the copper sulfate off real fast so they don't ingest it. Maybe a silver solution, silver is antibacterial, maybe .1% Silver nitrate in a paste/ointment Another thing to try is salacylic acid, it works good on psoriasis and I buy it as wart remover. It doesn't destroy skin like people will say, even though it's fairly concentrated, what it does is it saturates into the skin and kills the fungus, and the wart stick is beeswax and salacylic acid, so it's probably not as toxic as the other chemicals, I still wouldn't want them licking it though.
google'd suggestions: Selamectin applied topically. Ivermectin administered orally or under the skin. This should not be used in collies and other dogs with the MDR1 gene. Moxidectin applied topically. Isoxazolines: available in topical and oral forms, off-label use. Fipronil spray. Assuming you've tried all of those things... talk to vet. talk to vet even if you try these is my suggestion :X I know they got rid of lice by applying a hot iron to peoples' clothes in the first world war, so... that's one way I guess, though maybe use something a bit nicer than a hot iron. both are parasites so it should be theoretically possible to 'heat them out' but I don't know the best way of doing so. maybe a blanket and heatgun or something? I'd try it on yourself first and see how tolerable it is though.
When I adopted 2 of my dogs, they had ring worm. I tried every vet solution, I cleaned the whole house ceiling to floor....nothing worked. Then, I got purerx xtreme cleen (spelled that way), over diluted it and put it on the ring worm. gone in 3 days.
A 5% lotion of permethrin is used in humans. I am not sure about safety in dogs/wolves. We also use oral ivermectin in humans. My dogs received shots of ivermectin recently, so it is safe in dogs.
Having a similar issue with my Chihuahua Yorkshire terrier cross, I think it's just normal fleas but the bastards keep coming back, I wash her with two different flea soaps every few days while my dad practically boils the carpet and her bedding and pillows, They seem to go for a little while then come back, she doesn't interact with other animals so I'm just thinking that the fleas just live in the tall grass and bushes in the area, Which is annoying because Lyla loves to brush up against the bushes and do her business only in tall grass.
I would recommend getting an oral anti flee medication like nextgaurd. I had a horrible time with fleas for like a year until I tried that. Now they're gone and I have a huksy and we regularly walk in a park with tall grass
Man, take them to the vet, they will have to remove all fur from those potatoes. My neighbor has a Malamute and had to do the same. With the bare skin exposed, is easier to treat properly.
@@mazack00 better to just leave the mites then right? because a beautiful coat is much more important, beauty above health (not just the animals as scabies can transfer to humans) right?
you can try making an infusion of violet leaves take a large jar and fill it with dried violet leaves and flower heads fill with boiling water close jar and leave overnight strain infusion in a spray bottle and spray area where they are good for people and pets
