The 2011 Returning Hearts Celebration at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, Angola, LA where 621 children spent the day with their incarcerated fathers. This video highlights 3 of those fathers. The RHC is a ministry of Awana Lifeline.
P.S. Most of the still photos were shot by photojournalism students from Union University, Jackson, TN. They did a great job! Kudos to writers: Angela Abbamonte, Jordan Buie, and Whitney Jones. Photographers; Cari Phillips, Josh Garcia and Rebekah Clayton. The writers also contributed some photos for a total (including mine) of 6,108 images. Professors Jim Veneman and Michael Chute coached and edited.

We need more people like Burl Cain in this world, not just as wardens, but in all levels of society. Can you imagine what a world that would be.

My dad has been living in there for 44 years. I’m grown up and he is getting old. Warden Cain has an awesome outlook. Yes, family members suffer immensely because of the actions of their prisoners bad choices. We love the persons and hate the crime. Bad choices don’t just effect the person murdered or the prisoner. It’s been quite a “rodeo!”

people want to comment how tough and unfair Angola is , but tell me of anyother prision warden that will allow and facilitate this kind of inter action between inmates and theit kids ?
