Making my way through 'Not That Kind of Girl' and I think it's great that we can now have open and frank conversations about living as a female and not feel like we're marginalising ourselves, and that these discussions are given space on public platforms. She's a motormouth. Yet I like her. (Deep down inside I feel like I shouldn't, yet,...... I do like her). I actually had friends like her in high school, not that good-looking girl really witty with words, which made it seem that she was a lot more mature than she really was, and whose words made the whole high school experience look like something not that important, like a kind of annoying rite of passage that one had to go through yet that had nothing to do with what was to come in a few years. I wore glasses and those friends seemed to think that I was kind of smart just because I wore glasses and had good grades, yet I was as stupid as the next guy. And I was so nervous about expressing myself verbally that that actually made me a good listener in their books. They were great. It felt like I was friends with adult people before my time, and it made me feel more mature myself (which I would prove wrong time and time again by the time I was in college).

Not that kind of girl, but she is my kind of girl. Lena Dunham is amazing in every way

Mixed feelings about Lena. Sometimes she is clearly annoying. I don't agree with her politics. But there is something interesting about her, nonetheless. Who the heck knows.

There are so many things to like about her but what added to my already long list through this interview is how humble she is. She wasn't defensive when the issue of racism was raised. Instead she admitted her own limitations as a white, middle class female at the age of 23 when she started Girls, and that she's here to participate in the expanding discourse and learn from everybody and empower others so they can tell their stories, too, like she did with Girls. It's unreasonable to expect someone to be everything, which what we usually do when someone gets to a certain celebrity status. It's very impressive how aware she is of her place; her capabilities as well as limitations. She sees herself as a part of something bigger. I'm excited to see her blossom! Looking forward to more stuff from her!

Lena Dunham. I absolutely love you as a human being!! Don't change. The celebrity world is in dire need of more authentic people like you. I'm gonna follow your career now and call youup if you sell out but you don't seem the sort.
