Boy does that take me home. I spent my teens at Lions. Most weekends and all events, AHRA WInternationals were the high of my year. Saw the crashes of some of the cars shown in the film. Best nostalgic moment.

When I was a young kid, I used to live a few miles away and could hear the engines as they roared down the track. My friends and I would ride our Schwinn stingway bikes there when they were closed and squeeze thru the gaps in the chain link fence and wander around and collect spark plugs that were discarded all over the ground. When I got older, I used to go to the other local strips as well like Irwindale and OCIR (Orange County). As well as Ascot Speedway. Now all closed and paved over. I had not heard of the museum before now but will someday try to visit it. I have some old drag racing photos they might be interested in having.
Stacey your shows got me into wrenching on vehicles mainly boats and jet skis and made me think about opening a shop for that specializes and standup jet skis as people that live in my area want to get into them but no shop round here is willing to touch them
Cool museum! I was at long beach when I was a kid, really nice there, remember the spruce goose,I’m almost 50 so I remember the snake, Shirley, the movie heart like a wheel? Think?
Well. Since the younger generation is less and less interested in driving this is what you get. The same way guitar music is getting progressively less and less. Kids aren't interested in learning how to play.
What are you Workin' on? - The car is running and driving, still a few small items to get straight before alignment and inspection. She wants to have it running before school starts in 3 weeks.
Baby Boomers: Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They're currently between 57-75 years old (71.6 million in the U.S.) Oh Yes Mickey Thomson and Don't forget about Socal with their belly tank racers breaking land speed records! Drag Racing and Salt Flats racing were and are the bomb for me! Yes if Big Daddy Don Garlits didn't have that major engine blowout. The rear engine dragster may never have been created.
