Trade war does no good to countries involved. 1. China is the second largest economy in the world and one of a few major buyers of US products, if not the biggest one. The other economies expected to replace China are just no where near the capability of China as a consumer and provider. 2. If US really brought back those manufacturing sectors and jobs, how should US government deal with the high cost, which is a primary reason why manufacturing left US in the first place. The conflict between US and China would shift into US, and that must be a nasty issue.

Transshipment is simply a sympton of the bigger problem which is tariffs and customs on imports. There shouldn't be any at all. It would help eliminate domestic monopolies and allow much cheaper goods for the consumer. All that these tariffs are doing are creating extra busy work around the world which could have been spent on much more productive work. In that way the world is wasting administrative ressources in the trillions of dollars.

@@meganh9460 With respect, you're incorrect. I'm no fan of China. However China makes most of the world's goods. China has the world 2nd largest economy. I personally knew a twentysomething Nigerian man who said his dad got rich by creating a company that imported goods from China to Nigeria. Even here in Canada most of the stuff is made and imported from China. My country' economy runs mostly on farming, fishing, resource extraction, science research and limited high end manufacturing. Here in Canada we get most of our stuff from China. Even the U.S. air force gets many of its high-tech plane parts from China, even though the Chinese regularly sell the U.S. counterfeit or worn down electronic parts, because the U.S. and its allies cannot make those parts themselves www.airforce-technology.com/news/newsus-military-aircraft-feature-counterfeit-china-parts-claims-report/

The issue have always been how you calculate trade. The media and politician like to make it simple as possible by calling trade deficits unfair.... It has been reported many many times that many products "made in china" only 8-20% of it is actually part will contribute to the Chinese economy while 80% is from Japan, US, EU and South Korea. But since its last destination before shipping out to US is from China those uneducated politicians will claim 100% of the reported sum in Customs is from China or any other country. Not to mention trump and co doesn't count US companies operations in China, they like to whine how unfair it is, yet turn a blind eye on how much US corporations are making in China, like Apple, Yum Brands, etc.

Well, I have watched HAI, and subbed. And since I compared the chicken tax to the Chinese good tax, hey, both are 25% and are useless.

This is why country tariffs are such a bad idea. If there is no tariff, there is no need for these needless policing and suspicion. It is just another policy of discrimination of all sorts under Trumpisom.

Very interesting news. Bangladesh has no trade & diplomatic relation with Israel. But Bangladesh has significant export of Medicine & Garments products in Israel throuh transshipment. I think there should not be any trade embargo, it has adverse effects on civilians who are not responsible for any misconduct.

Hi guys, I'm Vietnamese. As far as I know there are a number of Vietnamese companies that seek to do fraudulent practices that go against Vietnamese government policy. Maybe what you say is true, but I believe our government will try to prevent this trouble. Because we are not foolish in order to help those who always want to manipulate our country. Vietnamese people can fight to the last breath but we never want war to come. Let's put aside the past and build a peaceful world together. sorry my english is not very good, thanks!

Instead of tariffs maybe America should invest in education and training for workers to increase their skills for a future. Nurture small and medium sized businesses in innovating solutions and increase productivity. Spend on infrastructure so we can ship goods and services in a global market quickly and affordable. Or.... just blame Chinese Mexicans 😑

Chinese companies set up branches in Vietnam. They make the products, send them to their Vietnam branch. The Vietnam branch can add some additional bells and whistles, and then export them as Made in Vietnam. This type of practice is done all the time. Don’t believe me? American soy bean farmers sell soy beans to Brazil. The Brazilian companies then re-sell the beans to China as Made in Brazil, to dodge the China ban on US soy beans. How is this any different?
