The father's genes determine the sex of the baby, but the mothers DNA can be more dominant than the father. I would imagine because we carry the child.

Most people react on emotion and feeling with out knowing their State laws, GA laws said if a mother have a child out of wedlock, the mother have full custody and the child automatic get the mother last name, unless both mother and father both sign a consent form of paternity acknowledgement, for the father name can be on the birth cert. and the mother still can choose the last name, and if the mother choose not to give the child his last name, the father must petition the court
