Having had the unfortunate experience of having my place burn down, speaking only for myself, the reason I left so much behind was, for starters, you don’t want anything that’s going to remind you of such a traumatic event… especially if there was loss of human or pet life, like there was at my place. Plus, it just feels creepy being in the house with no electricity, and that stench in every room. Another reason is that most of the electronics in the devices were most likely fried just from the heat, and especially as it pertains to clothes, that burnt smell never really comes out…especially if the material has polyester in it. I probably spent hundreds of dollars at the laundromat washing and re-washing things I really wanted to save, but in the end I ended up just throwing them all away. Having been through it, I can totally understand why they just left everything and moved on/started over. Emotionally, sometimes that’s just the easier thing to do.😕

Everything about that place screams 1980’s, from the appliances to the plumbing fixtures. I’m guessing they were very old. I saw some pictures of Bert Reynolds house after he died and it was straight out of the 70’s, he hadn’t updated a thing since he moved in.

I worked rebuilding homes that were damaged by fire and the belongings get so much smoke damage you can’t see but the smell can’t be removed for the most part. Some rehab companies can get rid of most the smell if you have family heirlooms or don’t care about some smell. The insurance companies pay the owners for everything with fire and smoke damage and you can’t come back to get it once they pay you for it.

I worked in the reconstruction area of house fires for years and my son is an insurance lawyer. They will try to clean a few items but smoke damage causes the highest costs in a fire because it is hard to get smells that are deep in fabric and electronics. We put so much stuff in the dumpster that looked fine but if you did take some home it would stink your house up. The home owners alway said we could take what ever we wanted because it was getting replaced. The thing, you have to have proof of the items you lost. Every few years I go around my home and video everything I own even to include serial numbers so I have proof because recipes can get burned. I keep the video somewhere else to keep it safe.

They were definitely displaced. *I LOVE the baby tram! Wonder if it's decorative or antique. *There's furniture that looks salvagable. Maybe they've already retrieved their heirlooms and antiques. Hope so! Dumb question but...have any of you stumbled upon human remains in sites you've explored? I've often thought that - to find a missing person. Your explorations are so exciting! Rear projection TV, not tube. But yeah, that's 20 year old tech. Given how they didn't have money to upgrade things IN the house (old cabinets and counters, old appliances, old TVs, etc.), maybe they were strapped after buying it. Makes the fire and payout a bit more interesting to consider.

I'm impressed to see they had so much outdated stuff in the house. These people were smart and were aware of the phrase, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Something that todays throw away generation doesn't understand, which is sad. So what if the fridge looks old. It keeps your food cold so why throw it away? If you already own a movie on vhs why bother buying it again on DVD or Blu-ray? The TV was old but It looks like an early HD model. Those were built so well that if the fire and water didn't touch it I bet it still will work. I've made a ton of money reselling out dated stuff that snobs threw away and saved it from going to waste in a landfill. They were probably able to afford that nice house because they weren't remodeling the house every 5 years and weren't running out to buy the latest furniture or gadget. It's a shame they lost it all in the fire

@@conversationtosaurusrex why are you trolling? You know what I meant and of course there are always some people out there that don't do what everyone else does. At no point did I say every single young person participates in the throw away lifestyle. If you are able to take such a simple statement out of context and immediately get trigged and have to start trolling, it must he an absolute living hell in your head. So, instead of being a troll maybe pay attention to what people are saying and if you don't agree maybe be respectful and ask questions. Don't just make assumptions and try to insult people. Especially, when your comment makes you look like a complete idiot.

@@danthechevymanc6b475 No, you obviously made a generalization, and don't want to own up to it. If your words were taken out of context, then by all means, explain what you meant. Assuming someone is trolling because they take your statement of face value, is nothing short but ignorant and simple-minded.

Place almost could've burnt entirely down if you look at every single plug and light switch even on the opposite end of the house from the fire there's scorching coming out from them. My best guess as to why so much is left is due to smoke and soot damage.

That "Rear Projection TV" tells you how long since they lived there - that one looks like a CRT type rear projection tv which dates it to the 90's or earlier. The antique cloths and electronics and the antique perambulator are just Bizarre!! What is the history? Why did they walk away instead of fixing it?

I’m reading the comments and people saying the insurance have paid out and the owners have left it. Would they have been paid via the insurance company to just sort out the damage, or been paid the actual value of the home? I’m the U.K. if you have a fire the insurance would just pay for the damage unless it was the whole house. I just can’t get over the fact they’ve just walked away and left it to nature. Really really bizarre. Would you not mend it/knock it down and sell it? Maybe they have more money than sense. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
