Dotun and Tim are joined by the Oracle of African Football Mark Gleeson to celebrate Nigeria winning the 96 Men's Olympic football tournament in Atlanta, as well as the music and culture from that day.
Nigerian football fans didn't expect much from their U-23 team, having lost to Togo in pre-tournament friendlies and having their manager sacked and replaced last minute. So when Nigeria secured a 3-2 victory and thus the Olympic football gold, it was a big deal, remembered as Nigeria's biggest football victory at an international level.
Together they discuss their hopes for more African footballers to be overtly political, the difference between the Olympics and the World Cup, and the legacy of the Spice Girls' "I'll tell you what I want what I really really want".
Dotun claims that it's not about the song, it's about the package. Do you agree?
Tim is a football journalist and is recognised at the South American football expert in the English speaking world and has developed a cult following for his role on BBC 5Live's World Football Phone-in hosted by Dotun. It helps that the duo are good friends, which makes for light-hearted and thoughtful conversation you want to chime into. Brought to you wrapped up in ribbon in The Brazilian Shirt Name Podcast.
