Not everyone can buy a Birkin, not everyone can buy a Ferrari. Some things are just invitation only. People are just stupid for wanting to be included in exclusivity.

It’s absolutely true. They call it The Hermes Journey. It’s very common for people to drop over $100K in stuff they don’t really want before being offered a Birkin. Hermes can keep its overpriced bags.

If you are rich enough to purchase a Birkin bag, why bother to sue for the little extra money to buy other Hermes accessories? If you are really rich, act accordingly and be classy.

Definitely rich people problems but I don't see this lawsuit going anywhere Companies generally have the right to establish criteria for who they serve or sell their products to, whether it's based on past purchases, qualifications, or other factors.

This practice is common car companies like Porsche and Ferrari. In order to get the best Porsche's, you need to buy at least a half dozen other cars you don't want from them that year. Only if you've bought the most cars from that dealer that year over anyone else, can you be considered for the best cars. It's kind of disgusting. Defiantly a first world problem, but an abuse of capitalism none the less.

Well this will throw a wrench in the Ferrari & Porsche business models

Most of this is not a mystery. The truth is that Hermes only makes a very small number of the Birkin and Kelley bags a year. These bags are handmade by one person at a time and can take weeks to a month or longer to complete an order. It also has to pass the scrutiny of QC before it gets shipped out to a random store. The sales associates or "SA" then choose to sell the bags to anyone they like which is one of the few discrete powers they can have over the "client". You could buy $20,000 worth of other merchandise at Hermes in your lifetime but if you are rude, condescending, act entitled or inappropriate, the SA will probably never sell you the bag and you may even be blacklisted. On the other hand, if the SA talks to you and you seem like a nice, decent person that might be able to shell out $30,000 on a bag that very day, then you might end up with a Birkin. Its really about how the SA feels about you, not Hermes as a whole.
