In this short snippet from a khutbah delivered last year at the Islamic Foundation of Ireland in Dublin, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan scrapes the tip of the iceberg on the topic of psychology. More interestingly, he draws comparisons between ayat from the Quran and how modern day 'pop psychology' has led to an increase of self-diagnosed 'feelings' that are, in fact, an attempt to feed our own self-worth.

Personally and as a Gen Z, this topic has been something ive unintentionally deepened into during my childhood. At one point, I had realised how self-destructive psychology can be if misused, and instead only used it for my own personal growth. Alhamdulillah, that knowledge had also helped me with my deen aswell. I won't claim to be an expert at it, but I will say I have always been keen at noticing it even before media influence.

I think people are missing the point here. Western psychology in itself is not the problem, in fact it is a very great tool to understand the self. The problem lies when we ONLY pursue western therapy and self indulge in our own experience WITHOUT seeking truth in Islam / Quran alongside therapy. The best is to practice both together, remaining grounded & humble and keeping strong iman, taqwah & tawakkul. Also it is important to remember the only one we should seek guidance from is Allah swt, not other people. But that doesn’t mean we cannot benefit from these practitioners either.

Some trauma you keep with you until you meet your rab. Seek allahs help through patience perseverance and salah and keep trying and one day allah will be pleased with you in sha allah and you will be pleased with him and he will fill your heart with his jannah and will remove every lingering sense of injury upon it that heart of yours. When i think about trauma i remember the hadith about how a man will be dipped into jannah for like a second and then will be asked about his suffering on earth and he wont even remember any of it because jannah is so amazing it just made them completely forget their past traumas.

"People experience various calamities in life. As the Quran says, "ما أصاب من مصيبة إلا بإذن الله" (No disaster strikes except by the permission of Allah). The question then arises: Why does Allah allow such terrible things to happen? In this verse, Allah teaches us a profound lesson: "ومن يؤمن بالله يهدي قلبه" (Whoever truly has faith in Allah, Allah will guide their heart). This means that when we face anxiety, anger, pain, sadness, or frustration-perhaps feeling that someone has escaped justice or that life is unfair-if our hearts are steadfast in iman (faith) in Allah, He will guide us through these challenging emotions."🖤 These words will stand as timeless wisdom until the end of days.

And it's been three years since my graduation, i still find myself labeling people and putting them in a box. It's now i realize ho limiting this been for me. @@rabeeamansoor7588 yes. When we try to find faults in people we loose the connection, purity and peace of our hearts. 05:00 _"i need to feel good"_ İ remember a psychologist saying that people used to go to the psychologist to get treatment for a disorder. There has been a shift somewhere in the 20th century where people start to go to the psychologist because they feel they don't get the maximum experience out of their lives. You see now that young people, Especially young men, get aquatinted with Stoicism to learn how to live life with pain and suffering.

Forgiveness takes so much strength, I think a lot of people misunderstand that. Western culture often perceives forgiveness as a sign of weakness and submission towards ‘the enemy.’ And forgiveness can also be done in silence and through prayer… so walking away and letting a conflict be can sometimes be a sign of forgiveness. So not “out of sight, out of mind” but “forgiven and not forgotten, but out of mind”

Alhamdullilah! This is a very necessary topic to be talked about. May Allah assist those who have the ability to help us with this issue! Ameen!

JazakAllah khairan, Ustadh, for this profound reminder. Your words resonate deeply, emphasizing how easily we let our feelings dictate our actions, often placing them above our devotion to Allah. This lecture is a crucial wake-up call to prioritize our faith and submission to Allah over fleeting emotions. May Allah bless you and increase your knowledge. Ameen.

I think this lecture targeted to ppl who overuse psychological term and obsessed with self-validating content same way as ppl who obsessed with astrology
