"Better to be disappointed than to be the one who is disappointing." Beautiful and so very true. I needed to hear this from a sincere and learned person like Sheikh.

"When the prophet saw helped people is because of who he was and not because of who they were..." this statement is so deep

If you are young and Allah has guided your heart towards lectures like this, say Alhamdulillah. It does not matter what your past is, you are being given a chance to rectify at an early stage. If you are older, say Alhamdulillah. Do not waste the opportunity. When you trip or fall off the track, struggle back up as quickly as you can. It gets easier with time. May Allah guide us all on the right path and forgive our sins and shortcomings. Amen.

I am deflated lately, from all angles i am fighting my right to be treated kindly, courteously, respected and loved- it's so so hard when you apply these qualities to all people but they never absorb and share it- nor do they appreciate you or your presence. Lately it's hit me hard and i've never felt so alone in this World.

I learnt about Islam since my childhood and tried my best to apply it in my life but there were times i went in self-doubt because nothing went the way it should. I am a lonely person with absolutely no friends. This made me wonder if I am on the wrong. I thank the present day ulemas who talk on practical topics that help to meet the challenges of the modern world by applying Quran and sunah in life. Thank you for refreshing our Iman. May Allah bless you.

All I want are friends who dont hurt and abandon me.

We need these lectures to be done in our Arab societies to bring them back to the straight path Jazak Allah khair shiekh may Allah rewards you with the highest level of Heaven and be among the prophets and their companions

My Situation exactly with my older family member Sisters and an Aunt. Make Dua for me because at this time I'm tired of trying to be the better person and they don't try it's so bad at this time I don't even want a relationship with them 😔🙁😕☹️ it's like this message was sent to me by Allah. My response was to speak of Allah continuously

"People like leaves w/o thorns." Those are people who walk 🚶‍♂️ in forgiveness at all times in their lives, and they do not allow life's bad experiences hearden their hearts.

I think it’s also important to maybe mention when it is okay to cut off/ not be a push over…many youth struggle with codependency and a lack of self worth and continue on in friendships that are unfulfilling and often damaging…thoughts?

people will show their true colors when you are no longer beneficial to their life. You will start loosing your partner/spouse, friends even family. Just stay strong, have faith, and avoid them…until Allah embrace you with unexpected gift…beyond your imagination for your patience.

You are never lonely or alone. Allah SWA is always with you. I will always recall my mothers advice: “Friends are like seasons, they come and go but Allah SWA never leaves you. Make Him SWA your best friend. You will never be disappointed like people can disappoint you” .

All of my friends left me when I became Muslim.

When people keep letting me down, it means I am expecting more from them than I am giving to them. It also means that I am keeping the focus not on my God & Deen, Gratitude included, but rather on my selfish needs/wants/desires...all of which is idolatry, no matter how temporary.

Ive been there, and the answer is being brave to be disappointed. So that we can stop and leave. Rasulullah teaches us that disappointment is normal, every story of him and the sahabat also shows that. But the message about being brave to be disappointed is rarely be found

Allah leads me here. He wants me to hear this as my heart grow weary and disappointed without a break. Alhamdulillah. ❤️❤️🤲🤲

There is group of people that tend to: 📝 if you messed with them, they will messed you back. 📝 even if you leave them alone, they'll not leave you alone and make claims about you. 📝 if can get in the game and muscle your capabilities the way people deal with each other, but you won't come out clean. Advice: 📝 Loan your name for a day, in which you will be impoverished you'll be in poverty. 📝 Let them speak, let them prick, let them do whatever they want. ✨️ 📝 in the day of judgement, all deeds will be compensated. 📝 the era of people get hardship to find trustworthy person: rare price. ✨️ Reminder: 📝 Hold the quality in different standard. Be the 1 out of other 99 camels. 📝 Don't justify bad behavior based on others bad behavior. 📝 Don't punish people with the pain that was inflicted within. 📝 Refuse to succumb in nastiness or things that have become acceptable amongst people. Even if it will cost me something of this dunya. 📝 Don't loose the akheerah and seek for Allah's rahmah. 📝 Don't preclude the possibility, even if it needs time. 📝 Lower expectations on people, and grow stronger bond to Allah. 📝 Give yourself: name, reputation, etc. Give all back to Allah. 📝 Don't justify yourself, if messed up and do wrong seek forgiveness to Allah. choose your friends wisely, drop them like a fly if you find people unethical.I do my duties towards the needy but do not expect in return. always have your own sets of rules and expectation from friends, if they don't meet your standard, then move on. Still do your duty by helping people and other living creatures. My honor is the most important thing, that precludes trust and generosity.

The beginning of this lecture really surprised me, its not a coincidence that today of all days i was thinking the exact same thing as that man who commented about avoiding and leaving the people and today i came across this lecture of all lectures and it guided me against my wrong judgement/thinking. mashallah these are wonderous words and stories of resilience, morality and being the bigger person from Muhammad (pbuh), and I feel this is coming from a place of great love and understanding, Dr. Suleiman. I am trying my hardest to be that one camel, inshallah it will get easier. I've either burned every bridge in my life or had people betray me, in some cases I literally lost friends from drugs and violence. But I will not give up. I am praying that all of you out there can continue through whatever it is that is burdening you, inshallah we will perservere.
