Nepalis go pretty much everywhere in cheap-o flip flops. Sometimes smoking a cigarette while carrying a 100kg sack of rice and passing you on the trail.
Me and my dad hike barefoot and it's actually pretty funny that people have not said anything stupid about it yet. We have had some people admiring the fact that we can and dare do it though
I used to crawl all over the mountains in nothing but water shoes, but I always had regrets. Pine needles hurt. Sharp gravel hurts. Twisting your ankle hurts... I only did it because I despise socks.
My only issue when I had them was non stop debris getting under my foot. Had to constantly stop to brush them out. That was my only complaint I had with mine before my dog destroyed them.
My foot always slides around too much or I get lots of small debris between my foot and the sandal. Not sure how people do it with any level of comfort.
it always confuses me when people act like humans can only traverse in our natural environment in a certain type of shoe, people have been walking barefoot since the beginning of time- and in lighter footwear like sandals for the rest of the majority ..
