Its is because he didnt have gold for pickaxe on first recall. He dosent want typ buy ruby crystal or phage. So if he have gold for pickaxe, he Will buy Gore. But if he only has gold for 2 longswords, he will instead build cullfields warhammer and build cleaver first instead

@@xTypho It's because most of the high elo riven in China are used to playing at the limit with goredrinker, so they have the damage measured perfectly when playing with both its active and its stats, especially with the amount of life it provides. It is an item that provides great outplay capacity due to its active, wen shen is the one that best demonstrates this in game. I also think that Riven has needed HP in his stats for a while, because in the end just having damage is not enough due to the number of matchups that require that extra HP.

@@xTypho I’ve played on na eu and Chinese servers, tried both hydra eclipse or gore as first item, for cn server people fight all the time, ur way stronger to have gore as first item in mini team fights than hydra cuz it’s too squishy and limited, hydra helps u to scale faster by proxy waves stealing enemy jg camps etc. but early game ur kinda useless and ez to get os if get ganked

@@bkz1667 Ye that makes sense tyty, i only play on euw or eune, and rush w/e depending on the match ups like if they have a lot of burst champs im more inclined to go goredrinker, like if they have renek i always go goredrinker scenarios like those but if i see a squishy team on the enemy or no one that's able to side vs me im more likely to rush hydra
