For those asking, ball boys in footy support the home team 99% of the time and, having been one, you’re given specific advice from the home side on conduct and how quick or slow to get the balls back on for the home and away sides. Some of them like French and German do use the same word but the translation is a little different. Now there is no correct term here as you can both use Football and Soccer. The common practice is to use players from the junior team of the Home team as ball boys. So they are totally biased towards the home team and plays all kind of tricks to try to help their home team and to annoy or to harm the visitors (like hidding most of the balls when the home team is winning)

1. The ball boys are supporters or academy players of the home team, hence their bias 2. Football is the name 3. Arguments happen in every other sport, people know why fights are happening because they have this wonderful thing called ears 4. @@KrabbyPattySecretForumla well football is the name, everyone hates it when Americans call it soccer, because that’s not the name of the sport, sure, it may mean the same thing, but it’s like using slang in a university essay, it may mean the same thing, and people may say it, but it doesn’t make it correct. I didn’t agree with you either, you insinuated that football was a much worse sport with awful sportsmanship, which obviously wasn’t true. The final point was agreement tbf, but the others weren’t, rather corrections or explanations into why your assumptions were incorrect :)
