I discovered and binged through all sketches on this channel in about 9 days several weeks ago, and this is the first upload since subscribing, WHOOP! I've needed this SO bad after a crazy week. Nothing cures exhaustion from your dad accidentally setting the basement on fire like Zach Star reenacting history showing up on your feed. ;)

I love that this is a world where people simultaneously don't know how navigation by stars or the world is a globe, but Ticketmaster also exists 😄

The stars were actually the best way of navigating without a compass or a detailed map. I don't think they had either of this during that time in the middle of the desert. Celestial navigation was actually important for a very long time on ships. So the wise men actually weren't at the birth, it says something to the effect of " sometime later they visited the child at the home of Mary and Joseph" plus king Herod had issued a decree to have all boys 2 and under killed after they stopped to ask Herod for directions and he had determined how old Jesus was based on when the star first appeared. And the bible also never says there were 3 wise men, people only assume that because of the gold, frankincense, and murr. There could have been 2 or there could have been 20... This would have been a really long skit with 20 different wise men worth of lines though...

Assuming some creative license, it's entirely plausible that the Wise Men navigated to their definition by calculating their position/destination via location of the stars. Nice sketch, Zach.
