Although I cannot explain the origins of most of these English words or phrases, I did hear once the origin of the word honeymoon. When a couple married in the Middle Ages, they would be given a month (full cycle of the moon) to enjoy time together without working and also given a casket of mead (honey wine) to enjoy. Thus, the term "Honey Moon" was coined to refer to that special time in a couple's life together. Since modern newlyweds often enjoy Champagne and a one or two week getaway together, maybe we can make an up to date phrase like, "bubbly weeks" to refer to these magic moments in their lives. 🥂📆
