why does this sound like something we see on earth at the moment? a huge military force demanding an (on the paper) inferior force surrenders, but gets caught by surprise and reacts by inflating their military force by any means due to their pride/image being hurt/damaged
Even ignoring the AI repetition the premise of the story is flawed. If humans were already holding the invaders to a stalemate and raiding supply lines etc. Why would any sensible military leader gamble everything on an all or nothing battle. Story is seriously flawed!
depends on if the other side has a larger infrastructure behind it and it was only a question of time before the enemy could make or gather a big enough force... having a 100% certainity of defeat at a later date or a 50% chance of victory by risking it all could mean the gamble was the only logical choice.
Well reminds me of the battle of the Thermopylae, battle of canae and Hannibals fleet battles... Nothing new... Too human-centric... Let's face it, humans are not superior nor will they ever be...
omg, half the story has been about a huge pep talk..... and while there is something to be said about it, the alien fleet sent a few planet busters and killed that last humans in about 10 seconds. too much talking....
