I think it's great you scratched his scalp while shampooing! And had a specific shampoo for dry scalp. I can't tell you how many times I've told stylists that I had a dry scalp and they just go about doing things as normal...and I end up with dandruff at the end of the styling😥

Scalp looks oily, not dry IMO....This is just what he needed to clarify and cleanse his scalp. More frequent washing with scalp massage will likely correct the issue.
