You know what doesn’t have high repair costs? Of course the reserve bois but there’s also the re.2000 seria 1 which you should check out

If you think the RB repair costs are bad for high tier props, don't look at the sim costs :( Sim EC is so fun but you have to stick to low tier if you don't want to go bankrupt. Especially stay away from the jets.

In sim battles it can get worse for repair cost. The Ki-84 hei Hayate (spaded) has a repair cost of 21,743 silver lions. A MiG-29 will cost you 27 263 and a f-16a will cost you 27 041. I'll be honest I haven't really flown jets so I'm not sure what a 3 hour (or close to) match in a jet would be like for outcome of silver lions. Another weird thing is how certain planes get different battle ratings from sim to rb. A7m1 goes from 5(rb) to 4(sim). J2m2 4.3 to 3.7. Yak-3 (VK-107) 5.7 to 6.3. You get the idea :P

I never really thought much of the high repair costs for high tier props since planes like the F4U-4B is literally one of my best SL making planes purely bc its so good, but I realize that due to simple mathematics not everyone can get up to 8 kills per game when there's only usually 16 people per game, while surviving the match as well. I never really thought that the repair costs were why this tier is so empty, but now I do I really wish they were lowered, just so I can get matches with more people faster

Warthunder seriously needs to get their fkin shit together. I mean I average 4-6 kills a game in this aircraft but my friends are afraid to fly it because it costs so much if they lose their aircraft. It's unfair. It doesn't balance the aircraft, it just outright kills it

They don't want you you playing these tiers, repair cost in mid tiers in both planes and tanks (especially for smaller nations) is way out of control. I think its really there as a filler so you GE through to higher tiers. What else can it be, why would they try and silver planes out of their own game?

Great video as always. This BR is a pain to fly, i play both late german and late US props and the Repair costs are back breaking really. Once i got 3 kills in the 109 k4, got shot down and i still lost some SL despite having a 3/1 k/d ratio. their repair costs are a firm way for gaijin to abolutely frustrate the hell out of their players to buy premium time because without premium the average player will lose hundreds of thousands of SL easily.

Dont speak about long queue times before a gaijin dev watches this video and compresses matchmaking more to get a 30 sec queue time for everyone :)

Other reason why not that many play lower tiers than jets: Probably the majority of players that started in 2013/4/5 are now in the high tiers and grinding those out, so they don't have as much time to go to the more interesting tiers. Also, great that you noticed that AFK climbers are great to farm time/SL/RP with usually no issue to win by tickets (aka playing the actual objective).

The f8f (and all of 5.7-6.7) is a tragic tale but the f4u 4b was my favorite plane, until I ran out of free repairs... (cries in 23k repair cost)

Playing the french one, absolutely destroying ennemies teams with it (jet included) and becoming fucking rich, is the ONLY time I’ve ever thought “yeah maybe repair costs aren’t that bad”

I always found the top tier props (especially the Bearcat) fun because of their acceleration and their max speed in a straight line. Before the thermodynamics update, I would sit at just below cloud level with 600 km/h in IAS and pick on anyone who broke through the clouds.

Repair costs/time are a big reason I almost stopped playing entirely. Getting to Tier 3 and not being able to order any, or even train a crew to operate. It's the dumbest fucking thing in the game next to midmap AA. By trying to squeeze more money out of players getting them to purchase GE to buy SL. They make it so that if you don't do that, and you don't grind and grind and grind SL, You literally can't play the game for up to days at a time depending on repair time. I can do a single match of Air Arcade and Red Wrench an entire lineup of 5 aircraft, and then have to wait hours for those tier 2 planes to repair before I can play anything again.

ive been noticing the long match times lately.. i play the D-13 for grinding SL.. there have been a few times where i was one of two fighters and the rest were bombers.. also noticing there have only been around 50K players online at the times im on.. makes me wonder why and if this game will die eventually because gaijin uses the wrong tactics to balance *ahem* REPAIR COSTS! I love flying the Ta152 H-1 but ive kept from playing it because the rep cost is so high one or two bad matches makes me not want to play it

this is BS. how many games like that can you get it? repair cost make this plane unplayable for average pilots and thanks god, they are the majority. ace pilots like you make this kind of games that reported to rarity of using F8F make even worse the statistic of the plane.

I don’t think many people enjoy using planes that heavily punish them if they don’t go god mode. F-86K and Cl-13b mk6 also suffer from ridiculous repair costs. You should revisit one of them.

Superprop BR (5.3-6.3) is the epitome of the grind problem in war thunder. It is a dead BR because repair costs are very high and most people are only playing at this tier to grind higher rank jets at a lower sl cost. Many planes at this BR have good multipliers for SL and RP and this combined with the exhorbinant SL and RP needs are you get higher in the research trees from this point leads to this BR basically becoming the grinding zone. Most matches i've played at this BR have been 6v6 with only 2 fighters on either side at most. It is incredibly boring to play if you are not grinding jets and want fun pvp gameplay. It is also very disappointing to me because I had been looking forward to flying some of the best props in the game but unfortunately at a dead BR those planes just arent that much fun to fly,

I'd love to see a list of planes which are the most fun/best, but aren't worth playing just due to Repair cost. I was thinking about this when playing the early YAK jets which have ridiculous repair costs.

A magnificent plane to fly, but not quite the monster it used to be. With the possible exception of bomber hunting I believe the F2G performs the same role but is more optimised. The Bearcat will struggle to out-turn the Japanese planes and the Spitfires, but can't really run from them in the way the F2G can. Plus, the F2G won't explode from overheating. Now the Bearcat is quite average.

The 162 is great because it’s so fast for its battle rating. It can even smash past 1000km/h in a dive and not suffer from compression. You have to play it as a jet through and through. Fast, don’t turn hard, maintain your energy. It’s a pocket rocket for 6.3 really

I don't think the repair cost is what killed this BR range, at all. Its a combination of a few things; First of all 6.3s get dragged into jet matches a lot, and with more and more jets getting compressed down superprops are just not good to play. Look at the Spit Mk.24 for example, I played it the other day a little, 9/10 matches facing Italian F84Gs, a plane that will shit on you so hard that words can't describe it if the pilot has more than 1 working neuron. Or even things that are 6.7, like the Kikka will completely club any prop in the game, not to talk about the latest addition of the Su-11, or all the shit that gets attacker airspawn now. Props above like 5.7 are not really playable due to what they face. And even if you would face reasonable opponents, for example a Me 262 is pretty reasonable vs a F8F, if the 262 player decides to just run away for the entire match, theres nothing you're gonna be doing except chasing a guy flying in a straight line for 25 minutes. Talking of the topic of running, you also get at least 1 bomber running to some corner of the map, or to orbit in almost every single match at that BR. It is so incredibly fucking annoying and has been a trend in props in general lately (one of the biggest reasons why I don't really play props anymore at all, asides from the fact that there's also always some shitty player camping his airfield aa every match). Aside from that we had a *very* big thing: the addition of Tier 5 premiums. I'd say this is the biggest reason high tier props are so incredibly dead; the average person in this game probably grinds to tier 3 tops, and then just either quits the game, or just straight up buys a Tier 5 premium jet, and then spams jet matches until top tier. There's no need to play high tier props anymore, unlike back in the day when only prop premiums would exist, so why would you do it if its also a terrible experience on top of there being no need to do it. On top of that top tier now is Tier 6, so you cant use props to grind all the way to top tier anymore, back in the days when MiG-15 and F86s were top tier jets, people would spam these high tier props to get there, because they mostly had better research modifiers, now you can't just grind to your top of the line jet anymore in a Tier 4, and if you're just grinding something lower than Tier 6, you can just spam 5.7 planes like the F4U4B that is not just insanely good, but also doesn't face jets almost every match.

Late-war props are dead. Everyone is either playing jets, or sealclubbing with the XP-50/Bf 109G down in the 4.0 bracket.

The reason why 5.7 to 6.3 br is dead, is because of ju288c spam. Or of 7-8 players in the team, 4-5 will be bombers on germany, the allies would have 1-2 attackers and 7 fighters.

I know the high repair cost is relevant, but to make up for the massive losses i just grind 1.0 on USSR and get 25,000 sl per game... its fairly easy and has allowed me to grind up to 9.0 fairly easily

Repair costs as a balancing method is pathetic. I have given up on playing my favourite planes because of that. You get 3-4 kills and get killed...and come out negative. If they can't see what's wrong with that...well...it's no surprise. Gaijin is horribly disappoiting when it comes to actual game design and balancing.

If you had to pay half less your repair cost when you get killed by a 1.0 BR superior enemy, i'm sure everyone would breath a bit and complain less about being uptierd all the fucking time, and also no SL to pay when you get TK...

Unfortunately I am not the best pilot as I am a console player and I do not play to a plane’s strength as I do not know their strengths. However I do climb at 3.3 matches and most of the time my team is dead. However when even just 1 teammate cooperates, I can play good enough. Btw my favourite planes are F4U-1’s and the P-47s

I don't think its a repair cost issue. I think its a jet problem. For example one of my favorite planes in the game is the P51h-5-na it is very OP plane and it can deal with any plane at it BR very comfortably. Even in uptiers facing jets I still feel like top dog in most matchup until of course I face Jet pilots who knows what they are doing especially in jets that gets air spawn that can rush in and prevent you from climbing. It just feels like there nothing to do really except hoping they make a mistake and you get this extremely frustrating matches where you are being boomed and zoomed until someone finally gets you.

Ok. How does one get to high BR american props and still not know, that turnfighting in the p47 is basically a death sentence, unless you are literally out of any other options? Same for that TA 152.

This really wasn't a good example to complain about kill stealing. That Lincoln was very much NOT dead yet. I've set plenty of planes on fire only for them to put the fire out and make it back to base because I assumed they wouldn't be able to recover and left them alone.

i dont like and play this BR just because of Ju 288 C's. Either you are the only fighter in the team or you are desperately chasing 288's all game long if they are in the enemy team. Either way its very boring

What killed 6.0-6.7 early jets like the Russian Me262, trust me not fun fighting a jet that should be 7.7 its faster then an me262 and better in every way.

100% agree the repair costs killed that br i want to play props but not jets but i dont want to play props at lower br its the perfect middle ground if the repair costs for that br got reduced by alot it will definately bting people back to that br but like always its not gonna change they just care about top tier anything below it means nothing to gaijin....all i want to do it play my griffon spitfire but im not paying 24k repair costs at that br when u wont make money 99% of the time there logic makes no sense.... literally if u get 3 kills in the spitfire u wont break even with a prem account, if u get shot down. Prob no point even playing them if u are non prem lol...., also what is the repair cost for the ta 152 30k its extortion.. they just care about power creeping top tier.... nothing else they dont listen to the community at all i really hope this games dies so it will make them rethink their decisions...

They should also reduce the price of tier IV premiums, considering we are ar tier VII now, makes no sense for a tier IV to cost almost the same as a tier V or VI. Also, repair costs are the reason why I don't fly my F4U B, i won't pay 26k per death

when playing Air AB 6.7 my que times are generally 3-5 minutes long for 6v6s. It's even worse when a match goes to time.

War thunder has a severe repair cost problem that is ruining the game, it’s not a balancing mechanism it just stops people from playing vehicles because it’s literally not viable. You can’t even exclusively play top tier without going to a lower level to grind SL or have a premium
