The deer I killed last season with bow and rifle were from the ground using camo netting and a make shift brush blind for cover. They had patterned us started bypassing our stands and box blinds and feeders unless they knew weren't there mobile was the way to go hunting pressured bucks used to seeing hunters in stands. I saw deer nearly every sit most got within bow range. Best season ever

I am a small woman and I have always hunted from the ground. I carry a pruning shears and a folding saw with me. I'm 71 and I've taken well over a hundred deer, all from the ground, except one. I take advantage of existing cover and move when things don't seem right. Eye to eye is the best.

I’m a die hard deer hunter. I hunt multiple states every year. I’m a scouting expert. I hunt the wind. And I hunt aggressive. I don’t shoot a lot of deer, it’s too easy. I’m picky. That means staying mobile. There is no more mobile way to hunt than to sit on the ground. Last year was my first year trying this. And I shot a pretty nice 8 point. It was an adrenaline rush. It was full rut. I was rattling. He was mad. Came right up behind me in the worst possible angle but somehow didn’t get my wind, I was hiding in tall grass, praying he’d walk past me and I’d get a shot. His antlers were the only thing I saw in the dusky sky. He was MAD. Rubbing his antlers in the trees and stomping his feet and loud bark growl grunting. I was terrified. I prayed. Dear Lord help me not die tonight. I had my handgun in my left hand and my crossbow in my right. But he walked past, I got a perfect quarrying away shot and wow. If I hadn’t moved over to that spot 20 minutes prior I would have never had that opportunity. What an adrenaline rush

Nice video! It reminds me of my youth. If anyone is looking for a really great hunting seat you have to check out the "Ground Effect" by 03 Outfitters. It's made in the U.S.A. by 2 Marine Corps veterans. I've been hunting on the ground for over 50 yrs. and this is the best seat I have ever used. It's super portable, and it's dead quiet in any weather. I've used it in temperatures around the single digits and it never made a squeak. It goes with me wherever I go, and I'm 66 yrs. old. I give this video 5 stars for all of the ground hunters out there!

My first buck with a bow was right after I got out of my stand to go get some lunch. I walked 30 yards my stand and here came this 9 point trotting through. Never even saw me. I let out the classic meh, he stopped, I flung my arrow, and now he’s hanging on my wall. Had I been in my stand I wouldn’t have gotten the shot.

I slipped and fell last season setting up on a wet day and ended up with a bunch of stitches in my arm. That was reason enough for me to start trying more ground setups and I ended up getting a buck from the ground on public using a fallen log for cover. Definitely going to split my time between trees and ground steps this year. I also have a really hard time sitting in a tree for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time so there is another good reason.

I’ve taken several good bucks by watching them bed from my tree stand and stalking to them. Also, seeing deer using a certain trail has had me getting down and setting up on the ground near it. That’s paid off a few times too.

Would you consider doing a entailed video About firstlite’s new rain system. And cold weather bibs ? Because the Internet really doesn’t have entailed videos on how each piece works to the line up

I agree 100% with the benefits of hunting from the ground. I am someone who does not like to stay put in one place and even though this will be my 2nd season of hunting, I enjoyed and learned a lot from being mobile and stalking the animal before hunting it. there is a group of guys in YT can't remember their channel name, who hunt from the ground and they have a lot of success. Both ways are proven to be affective, it's just preference.

I would suggest states designate a few large public hunting tracts to be tree stand and trail cam free. Public hunting areas are often littered with trail cameras. It is not uncommon for hunters to put up tree stands and never take them down.

where I hunt the game warden will straight up tell you that if you see a deer stand 2 weeks after season ends to take it.

Deer can pinpoint where the rattling or grunts come from. Deer don't grunt in a tree. There is another reason.

I'm getting to the age where climbing into a tree stand (or any kind of ladder) may not be the safest thing. I hunted our new property last fall sitting on the side of a ridge above a draw that I suspected had deer traffic, sitting behind a turkey screen. Dropped a decent buck at 50 yards with the 870. Passed on a half dozen young ones I didn't want to shoot that got closer. I will say some of the old does knew something was not right & they didn't get real close.

I walked into this marsh on public land on Halloween during a massive snow storm and didn’t take my bow it was 2pm and I wanted to just kinda scout. Well this Giant stands up and looks the other way I could have shot him easily after a minute he turned looked passed me for a second then finally locked into me and trotted off!

ABSOLUTLY CORRECT!!! I have deer walk within 10-12 yards of me while I'm set up on the ground in deadfall cover, and NOT know I'm there!!!
