You can wait till the mother leaves are dried up and they will fall off the babies automatically. But if you want to pick it off, just remove the mama leaf when you see it dries out. As you were worried, if we remove the pups too soon, especially when their roots are not strong enough, it would lower the chance for them to survive on their own
