I use salt and butter only, salt before ,cook, then butter! Perfection every time!

Seasoning a steak after you've cooked it would keep more of the seasoning on the meat and less gets transferred to the pan or left behind in the oils. So your "post cooking"seasoned steak would still have more seasoning on the meat. That's what will give it the saltier and more strongly seasoned flavor. I season my meats including fish, an hour or more before cooking it. And if I'm really smart I season it bag it and put it in the fridge for a day. That really allows the flavor to permeate the meat.

Great video!!! I only season after cooking because I cook for my dog and we are on the same diet. Some seasonings that I like are just not good for my dog. I live rurally in Florida and cook on a gas range converted to propane...a plus when power is out for 4 weeks due to inclement weather. I love your channel and never miss a video

Would have preseasoned 1-2 hours prior to cooking and would have added 3rd category [ preseasoned and flake salt after cooking]

I usually season during the cook if it’s impromptu. If I’m planning the steak dinner, then I salt before due to your videos. Then I add any additional seasonings during the cook. I marinate tri tip steaks. I’m going to have to try seasoning after the cook now though.

Adding the butter at different times introduced a second variable that invalidated the whole experiment.

Olive oil alters the flavor of the steaks, beef tallow is the only true way to go, you will never do it like that again, give it a try.

I tried beef tallow a couple times and went back to avocado oil for frying. I didn't notice much of a flavor difference
