I am not a health or medical professional, so please keep an open discussion with your doctor on what treatment strategy is best for you and your asthma. What I've established here is merely a "rule of thumb" based on questioning many asthma sufferers. The biggest problem with rescue inhalers is knowing when and when not to use them. On one hand your told to use them only for emergencies, but on the other hand the idea behind controlling asthma is to PREVENT attacks. A rescue inhaler will only do so much if an attack is already occurring, so your goal is to prevent attacks by managing arising symptoms.
