I couldn't help but find this hilarious. Working in pharmacy for the past 17 years I've learned to decipher the most horrible kinds of scribble Dr.s can make. It's a talent I'm sure. 😂
I'm a doctor and I find this hilarious! 😂 although most docs can read each other writing, because they're mostly medical jargon. Medical Jargon + cursive (quick) handwriting makes it hard for anyone else to read. I can attest though that some of the docs make it even harder to read. But Adam's prescription was just scribble 😂
@@sureshkumar-qw9ny it's come from the fact that doctors write a lot of notes, on each patient. So the handwriting just turns rough overtime and sometimes unreadable. However, it's actually not for patients to read anyway, so doesn't make any difference in the long run. Most pharmacists understand the prescription, because it's medical jargon. It's just some docs write even more rough (maybe in a rush) which makes it harder for pharmacists to read.
@@The1PrinceAli But can't they take more care or just print it out. Even though the direct use of such prescription is for pharmacists to read, patients still need to refer to it from time to time either for self research purpose or just a simple reminded of dozes.
@@sureshkumar-qw9ny there actually are facilities that provide printout prescriptions, but you have to understand that not all do, and that's not under doctors' control who work there, it's management of that hospital or clinic. And no, you do not need to refer to the prescription for directions on when to take your meds (they're written in medical abbreviations only for the pharmists - e.g. BID meaning twice daily, etc.), the pharmacists then provide directions to patients in clear format along with names of meds printed on the bottle. In fact, most pharmacists don't even return the prescription to patients, because there's no need to, it stays with them for record keeping.
That actually happened to me for real once😅. A nurse showed me a prescription of a patient that some doctor gave him and they couldn't know what it said and I couldn't be able to read it neither. What I didn't tell them that the prescription had my sign on it 🤭
I really identified with this video, why ,I’m a retired nurse, for 20 years as a nurse we had to decipher what the docs had written ,I’m not kidding ,nurses now have it made ,everything is done in a computer ,even taking vital signs have become digital ,i remember when bed pans and urinals had to be sterilized, and thermometers had mercury in them and had to be shaken down before they could be used again,I’ve been retired now for 43 years now ,can you tell 😝
@@micheal808 because they have to write huge content in their exams in a very small amount of time and they get used to it. That's how their writing gets like this.
Don’t we all have this experience when we can’t read what the teachers were writing on the blackboard but still trying to take the damn notes faster anyway before they would erase the board!
I'm a pharmacist and in situation like this I'd ask him why he saw the doctor, for what did the doctor prescribe it, what was discussed, etc to get clues as to what it could be and connect the dots....and ultimately if still not sure, call the doctor. But I wouldn't just say "I don't know, too bad, tootles carry on!😂
I'm a pharmacist and I struggle with this every day But if you came to my pharmacy I would have helped you and at least called the doctor for you and you wont leave without your medication 🎉
In my personal experience, 10/10 pharmacists can immediately read the doctor’s handwriting 😂😂😂 its kind of super weird, as if they went to the same school
Accurate: I once transcribed for a doctor, and I could read most of his handwriting at a point but one day when I asked him to read me a sentence he didn't know what it was!
I still remember when the Dr gave me a piece of paper so that I can get my medicine at a pharmacy whenever I need them. I was like what??? Who can read this. 😅 So nervously I bought it to the pharmacy without knowing how to explain it, they look at for like 5 seconds and them went back and get the medicine. 😁
