We opened our cat playground a year ago. I hope you haven’t had some of the issues we did. First, the poop issues. They loved pooping in the grass. And FLEAS! It was an awful mess. We wanted them to enjoy time in the grass, but after the heavy California rains last winter, we had a bumper crop of bugs of every kind. Treating feral and semi-feral cats for fleas was not easy. We replaced the grass with a red brick patio, and all kinds of kitty gym equipment and they love it. I’m currently growing large patches of wheat grass and catnip. I wish you all the best and hope your project is less difficult than ours was.
@JuanFernadez-jg5meLeaving feces from multiple cats in soil can spread diseases that are transmittable to both humans and cats. Flea eggs can also lie dormant in soil for a long time.
@@moonglow6639 I don't think you know the definition of imprisonment. Would you like them to be on the streets starving, getting kicked, killing precious local wildlife and themselves being killed? They are perfectly happy. Domestic animals are meant to be kept in suitable man-made quarters for they are animals bred for man as they thrive this way* (wild animals living almost twice as long in captivity is not a coincidence/silly chance). Don't like it? Don't purposefully click on videos to watch when you don't want to learn.
As we all know cats don't like change, but they will get use to the outside world again, when they find out that they are in a safe zone, they will relax, and will ❤❤❤❤ their new outside world. 👋💕🇦🇺
They have the BEST life available. Put your sympathy with the thousands of cats whose lives are taken daily. Usually after being terrified in a cage for days prior.
They're such good cats, they will learn that it's safe and fun to be out there in no time!!!! Hilarious seeing them so tentative, they didn't know what to do!!!! Pretty soon they will realize it's ALL theirs. 🥰
They don't know what grass is and are very hesitant to walk on it, preferring to stay on the concrete which is what they know. They'll get used to it and come to love it soon. This is wonderful to see. Thank you for this!
Yes shelter animals need sun as much as humans do . Only humans aren't getting enough ! I have 5 , had 7 ! They love windows , sunbathing , I can't imagine a cat without it . Some were shelter cats , some were just rescued, some reason they come to you . I have an outdoor cat I care for left by an older woman behind . She feel ill . In the complex I'm at . He sleeps on the porch most of the day , comes in in bad weather to chill and heads out . He don't seem interested in staying in . My cats got used to him threw the patio door . So I think , lol . He don't cause Trubble as a seems neutered male . He just loves meat ! He stays for the meats !
The condition of those cats is a tribute to the care you are clearly giving them! They look fabulous! And that is a terrific outdoor space for them. Wonderful! 🇨🇦💕
@@garymitchell5899 Again, Gary, to keep them safe from predators and the elements, and to control disease and parasites... It's a rescue sanctuary - a charity with volunteers that is expanding the lifespans of these animals, and providing them with a friendly and comfortable environment.
Hahaha! My cat Charlie heard the shake of the treat canister. Woke up and thought he was going to get some. He did. Got to not play videos like this unless I have treats on the ready. He walked into the kitchen and stared at the top of the fridge expecting a few treats. Of course I knew where he was going and followed him. You should flash a warning on the intro. Treat canister shaking, may trigger any cat listening. Be prepared.
Mine assemble on the table if I slap a sqeezup against it, assemble on the floor if I shake a treat bag and assemble at the door if I ring the bells on their harnesses. I think they’re well trained. They know I’m well trained.
Watching this in Australia. I have 6 cats all about 12 years old & related, have a large cat run to keep them safe at night and they can be inside or out. You have my respect, just such a wonderful place and they all look well fed and healthy. I can hear the pleasure in the carers voices and how excited you all are to do this for your babies. Great job, you are all heroes.
I wish you would’ve had a drone video. I can’t stop watching the different videos with the kitties responded to being able to go outside finally. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and love that you show these precious babies.❤
Actually, we didn't see most of them go outside. They hung around the entrance. By the way, although on okay vid, I found SEVEN BOT phony accounts praising what you did. Don't get me wrong - I love cats. But purchasing BOT phony accounts is kind of lame!
Not as good as the herding squirrels that was once shown as a Superbowl commercial but it will do. My favorite line from the commercial was “My brother was killed during a stampede when he was herding squirrels.”
I am a crazy cat lady myself and have 3. It warms my heart to see all these kitties experience even more love from you by providing them with your gift of so much JOY!! God bless your tender heart!
Today, Oct 16, is National Feral Cat Day. I got a discount on the TNR fees for two ferals I brought in today. Thank-you for all you do for these beautiful, fluffy kitties!
I built my cat a 18ft long 8ft wide 8ft high catio complete with high shelves, ladders and huge tree stump to climb on. First time I took her in there she went into full panic and darted back in doors but we left a window to it open and within the hour she was back out there and loves it now.
The sanctuary that I volunteer at has a really cool outdoor feral enclosure, we keep ferals that cannot be re-released for whatever reason. Check it out it's called wild blue cats in Black Forest Colorado.
AWWW...SO AWESOME....I RESCUE .....THEY ARE GLAD .....TO BE ROAMING AROUND INSIDE......STILL SCARED.....YEARS ONE OF THEM.....GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.....!!!
I just found your channel! Amazing work! The cats look to be in amazing shape and their playground is awesome. May you all continue to have many many years of cat sanctuary operation! ❤️🐈⬛❤️🐈⬛❤️
Several years ago the Memphis Zoo created a new big cat exhibit. The big cats were in a building that was built in the 1930's. One lion, a male named Firecracker was born in the zoo and never been on grass. His new place had a big grassy area, pools, and a heat spot outside. Firecracker would not go out for several days. Finally he did and then he refused to come in. It was a great day the old cat house was demolished.
Thank you...thank you! I have cared for cats and fed 20-30 a day for 15 years! Sad, 85% of the cats I feed are pets, thrown away like garbage! Ferrals take a couple monthes to trust, one was a years! I feed them all, one good meal and fresh water each day. I love what you have done. They look very well cared for. God bless you! People don't give animals enough credit. They do feel hunger and pain! Most are very sweet and just takes compassion and love! Wow, the unconditional love in return from these animals! First time I read of your sanctuary. I need to find out more! Thanks again! A friend of mine wants to start a sanctuary. We can learn from you!
HOW BEAUTIFUL, Thank You for caring so much about these beautiful animals 👏🏻❤️🙏🏻, it will be wonderful to see the progress the cats make as they see it is safe to venture out into the Catio. WELL DONE AND THANK YOU AGAIN ❤️🙏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 FOR SAVING AND CARING FOR THESE CATS, a fantastic inspiration I hope for other Rescue Teams and Organisations. 🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS. I ALWAYS DREAMT OF DOING THIS WITH MY SON IF WE EVER HAD THE MONEY. CATS DESERVE A PLACE TO THRIVE. I HOPE THEY LOVE IT. GOD BLESS FOR DOING SUCH AN AMAZING THING. WILL THEY STILL BE UP FOR ADOPTION OR LIVE OUT THEIR LIVES HERE?
Dogs don't just rush out. Very few species, if any, do what you're suggesting. Most species of animal are cautious when new environments are made available; it's just good sense that's been installed in all of us through millions of years of evolution. How do I know? I'm an ecologist and anthrozoologist.
@@bearswithglasses I don't think your particular area of expertise covers how all dogs will react to a sudden opening in a building. It really depends on the dog. I've seen both types of reactions, so I don't think anyone can unequivocally say that all animals act with caution. I've also seen both cats and dogs do really stupid things without thinking. Kind of like people... In comments sections on RU-vid...
Amazing.....WE need to be in nature.... touching the ground, seeing the sky, sun, clouds, breath in free air and touching the flowers, trees, soil and water..... Otherwise, we are locked in our place without knowing that we are in our prison which we call HOME!🐅🐯🐄🐖🦥🐉🐍🦎🐟🌼🌺☘🌾🌴🌲🌱🍒🫐🥑🍄🏝⛈⛅🌛🌧🌞
I super appreciate what you all do for these sweet animals. I do own cats, so please don't be down on me when I say you should not have used the grinder to cut things. It leaves behind little metal shavings cats can ingest. We all know as cat owners, that once a cat gets something on the end of their nose they lick it off, now its in their tummies. Seeing you throw treats on the ground where you just used the grinder mad me yell at this video. Please in the future be cautious of these things. Thanks for all the awesome work you do.
How exciting. I built a 30 x 25’ cattery from my babies. Fortunately, I live far from the city. Unfortunately, the black walnut tree in the middle of the cattery, took off this year growing.. apparently the trimming encouraged it. Now, the ingenuity and intelligence of my cats have found a way to get out of their cattery. When I have the financing, I will rebuild one even better, this time they will not be a living tree in the cattery for them to climb. They know the enclosure they are safe, and I see them spread out, taking naps and relaxing. In the most vulnerable positions. They also know it’s their space. I’m actually surprised how little time they spin outside of the cattery, now that they know how to get out I cannot stop them….. At this time. 😊
Few tips for you if you do this again or anyone else watching . Make 2 doors that open in the middle for easy access. Don’t start filming until you’ve sorted your entrance out. Don’t build fencing temporarily that requires saws to take them off causing extra noises . Don’t stand there yapping and shaking treats , let the cats explore in a calm environment . Don’t have people in the yard where the cats are supposed to be exploring , let them explore in calmness and peace . Add some bushes and trees so it’s more natural and provides shelter for the cats when they’re tense or nervous , cats don’t like open spaces . I have to question a shelter or sanctuary that doesn’t understand cats don’t like noise , a bunch of people and chaos .
@@chimerefaison9829 Yes. All true. I'm 74 and an animal lover. Neither dogs nor cats would want to explore in all that racket. The racket (noise) was apparently for making the video seem less "dull". The atmosphere was the same as a Las Vegas Car Show exhibition.
@@me-mx1hb Except, the "armchair quarterback" wasn't wrong. Let the cats explore, QUIETLY and peacefully. Cats do not like loud, sudden noises, although I'm sure the sound of a shaking treat bag doesn't bother them.
Love all your cat members for the new sports arena, can you add a spa. That would consist of a Japanese zen garden with goldfish pond, long lazy grass, and a bridge over the pond so you don’t get your feet wet? ❤❤❤❤❤my goodness, so healing, many blessings and love
