What a great clip. Rare to see both Hamilton and Perlman do an interview together. I thought Beauty and the Beast was the finest show of its kind on television. Vincent was a noble, gentle, kind, honorable, sensitive and chivalrous knight. Women adored him. How could you not?!
Ron Perelman always joked about his looks, saying he felt more comfortable wearing monster makeup. I saw him years ago in NYC when he was signing copies of the Beauty & The Beast poetry album he recorded. I found him to be a very attractive, down to earth guy. He was amazed at all the fans that showed up. He posed with me for a photo. A very nice man.

The beauty of Beauty & The Beast, IMHO is the fact that Vincent & Catherine manage to show such devotion, softness, intellect, and passion w/o the need for sex. It's as if this couple, these 2 beautiful people in their own right have found the spiritual side of love w/o the need for consummation. Sure, I believed it would eventually consummate but they found true love in its purest form & they play it out well w/o leaving viewers feeling as if something is missing. It was a fairytale.
I never really got what was Catherine's problem. If Vincent has even looked at me sideways, let alone loved me beyond all measure, I'd be subterrainian faster than he could say "I love you." I'm so there, Vincent! LOL It just never made sense that Catherine didn't succumb. I'd have to be nailed down! Sorry it's all coming back to me now I'm watching the box set of Beauty and the Beast on DVD. I've never wanted a fictional character that bad! It was all Ron Perlman. What a stunner he is. *sigh*
B&B, was a product of its time . As much as every woman who saw Vincent thought he was “enough man” to take to bed and as a husband, he was still part animal and the network was terrified of the beastiality label. To the point of Cathari, about the blond prostitute, I think that character might have been added to test the waters and see how the public actually reacted to the possibility of a human woman being with Vincent sexually. Of course Vincent was “bonded” to Catherine so they couldn’t very well have him be very tempted by that offer...just a little. Also, part of the abiding devotion to those two characters was the tragic nature of their love. While we certainly all waited with baited breathe each week to see if they would kiss or anything else we also kind of knew that once that barrier was broken we would be dealing with more of the standard male/female relationship issues that were avoided nicely by having this be a courtly love. There is no doubt that Vincent and Catherine are still deeply beloved as characters and I personally can’t think of any TV show that has come close to matching the level of passion that show had. It was intelligent, sexy and profoundly romantic at a time where that was just not the norm on TV.
This show meant so much to me, was so healing at a difficult time of my life. Thank you to everyone who had anything to do with lightening my heart every week
Thanks for posting this clip. It's a joy to see Linda and Ron being interviewed regarding the wonderful series "Beauty and the Beast". It's special to see a little behind the scenes and to hear their perspectives. It was a special show and it still is. Can't wait to get the DVD !
I agree with you, I wished that if the show had to end, why not end it with the couple together in the end. I don't care if they died together or lived on together, all I wanted was for them to still be together.
What made it so good was that their relationship was on a spiritual level, respecting the power of mystery that love creates, enough that they didn't need to have sex or babies, that's the goal of many spiritual masters who practice celibacy by achieving romantic relationships with partners without even touching, which increases the depth of ecstacy, bliss, connection and bodily feeling, this show's relationship has it, and it's very profound and that's why subconscious people feel how beautiful it is, yet perhaps don't realize why that is, because it is unconditional, working deeply despite the obstacles. I don't think Linda has understood it when she tried to progress the relationship to become normal, yet less profound by destroying its depth, the nature of this love is based on Eastern teachings, something much deeper than physical sex or having a family and spending time together in a house, it is all about not being together, and yet being together on another level, it's like lacking one sense, and yet being gifted with more powers in other senses.
I am the ultimate fan of the show and always will be.Back when it first came out my friends(who worked for CPI, photo finishing got me an 8+10 of Vincent for a birthdfay gift) My husband at the time understood he couldn't even come close to Vincent.I even tried to join a fan club,but never heard back.Fast forward to Amazon......the first thing I ordered was the complete box set of dvd's to the entire seasons of the series......I still pop them in,and watch them(my fav God Bless the Child)........l am a fan for life,always and forever........

It wasn't suppose to be a show where the main characters have real 'intimate' scenes. It is pure romantic pleasure without any sexual scene. Vincent and Catherine do kiss and they are connected without being together, I mean they can sense each other and that is what made the show so romantic. I loved their relationship, I hate when people get so disappointed that they were never intimate as they wanted.
I love this interview, they are really cute together. You can feel the friendship and affection between them ❤️❤️😍😍 Linda's words on the show are also beautiful. C&V in my heart forever.
God, I so remember when This aired! Linda and Ron where great together but sadly, after the first episode, I pretty much knew that TPTB would never have the guts to give me a true love scene between Vincent and Catherine. heck, all these years later, I still mourn that fact!
I remember an episode (flashback before Cathrine) where it showed Vincent having a crush on a sub-girl who dansed ballet. She got to close to him and 'turned him on' and he ended up almost attacking her. I wonder if that was the writters' way of saying that sex would bring out the beast in him, so let's not.
Linda Hamilton has done a lot of things my mom still reels from the fact that she's sweet, innocent, and Sarah Connor in T1, then awesome lady ADA Catherine in Beauty and the Beast, and then kick-ass Sarah Connor in T2.
I couldn't agree more! Linda's shown how good of a craft she has with her acting ability just based on these 2 characters alone. They are total opposites. Sarah Connor's a badasd with a gun (lol) and Catherine is a little bit more nice, but shes a badass in her own too. And Linda's facial features are on point. She's beautiful for one! For the role of Catherine, smile beautiful, lips beautiful and real, eyes beautiful, hair perfect. But playing Catherine, she's a DA that gets in trouble a lot...she shows her fear, her anger, her sadness (Side note: how Linda cries as easily as she does for this part is unbelievable), her happiness, her caring and love, even her little side smirk when she's getting the best of Joe speaks volumes. Her facial feature going through emotions made up a lot of why she was perfect for this role. And the chemistry between these characters was so on point. You can't fake that.
Both solutions work for me. All that matters to me is that they end up together. They stop DREAMING "the dream" and start LIVING it. Together like they should be. Below or perhaps in a house above. And a few adorable babies.

You are absolutly correct the fanfic is much better than the last season. I wish it would be redone! For the love of God, the begining of season 3 is not what I call a sex scene. If someone is brave enough to redo the last season then let's kick it up a notch and get some real sex scene action. If they don't, then every fan will die of hormonally overload and the need to see some action for poor Vincent if for no other reason. If you ask me that is why he went mental in the first place.

I believe that Vincent was sexually repressed. He was afraid of his bestial side... anyways, he should have tried and somehow enjoyed in the moments of passion. 🥰 He was a gorgeous beast and I think Catherine would gladly risk to get his scratches on her back for having such a man in her bed. 😍👍
What fanfic is this? Is there a title or author I can look out for? I've tried actually looking up fanfics and everything I'm seeing seems to be of Catherine and Elliot, which I absolutely don't want to read lol.
Most BATB fans I know wanted Vincent and Catherine's relationship to progress to sex. They were in love - why not? You can only go so far on screen and still be tasteful, of course. But they could have done an awful lot better than that stupid lava and roses in the cave scene.
Can you imagine this coming into the big movie screen? I wouldn't approve of that because young adults of this time are all immature and they wouldn't understand or appreciate the innocent, purity of the romance to this.
This is what the man behind Vincent looks like? I have seen the show when I was young and I never knew what he looked like. He isn't bad looking at all but I still love Vincent.

Linda and Ron are great friends. They hit it off from the start, and no one wanted the relationship between Catherine and Vincent to process more than Linda. She cried when the last episode of the first season aired ("A Happy Life") and the last scene was the "soul kiss". Linda knew what was left on the cutting room floor.
@@donna9440 good to hear because not always behind the scenes it's sometimes a different story. So they weren't faking the friendship. They both were lovely on the show.

I grew up with this show having new episodes. Funny George RR Martin was the story consultant & than Game of Thrones of course,dudes responsible for a huge source of morals as a child. Vincent to me was what a man should be not at all like the weak cucks of today. He'd tell Catherine if he felt she was wrong,nowadays you do that all of a sudden you hate ALL women.
