My two favourite Japan-tubers. Optimistic-Emma and Life-is-a-waste-of-time-Chris. Honestly, these two bring happiness to anyone who watches them. Both individually and together. Pure joy.
I feel like having Chris in Australia would lower the real estate values. So it's a great idea! Let's have him over, and maybe a few people will be able to buy a house in Sydney.
When you’re ‘unattached’ (unmarried, no kids) living in Japan, it seems like people just assume you’re here to play for a bit and that you’re going to go back to ‘your country’ and resume a respectable life at some point. Hence the “when are you leaving?“ question. BUT if you start a family, join the neighborhood committee, take part in PTA etc, no one asks that anymore. Then, at least in my experience, people just accept that your here to stay. (20 years and counting!)
I think people ask because it's not easy being in a foreign country away from your own family and childhood friends…regardless if you are married with kids or not…
Depends on the person. Obviously those who care will ask but most won’t hence you feel like it’s a common question when it’s not. And it popular anywhere, people usually don’t assume people move forever somewhere and most don’t understand moving to a different country isn’t any different than moving towns to most people
Journey Across Japan has just turned into a lads weekend, hasn't it? I'd love to see a season of JAJ where Chris is accompanied by the girls of TC. That would really refresh the format.
There needs to be a video with Chris, Emma, and Connor. I feel like the tables would turn and Emma and Connor would team up to bully Chris, and I 'd be so here for that 🤣
Chris promising Emma that *one day* she will be on a Journey Across Japan as the "One Last Journey" thumbnail appears on screen crushed all my dreams of seeing the chaotic duo on a road trip somewhere.
@@anapro579 Yeah, I'd call it barely restrained contempt. In this case, Chris's abrasiveness doesn't seem to be an act -he's been offended somehow, and this is the result.
I love how Emma tweeted that there was a video with Chris coming out soon... like a month ago... lmao I've been on edge for literally a month. Thank you.
As a Spaniard that watches Chris' videos, I'd love to have Abroad in Spain, I'm sure that I would even learn new things about the country I don't know with the research that Chris does for his videos
it's a shame about the current state of the DMCA laws because it would be a dope if Chris could make a mini series where he fix's movie trailers and makes his own improved version.
It's been 20+-years since I lived in Japan. While there, I discovered GENMAICHA GREEN TEA with Roasted Rice and it became my favorite. That I recall, I returned to the US with 3-boxes of it. Thankfully, I managed to restock it thereafter exhausting my supply, as a couple of local markets in San Francisco's Japan-town carried it.
I am mostly interested in Japan, but Chris I would watch in any country, he is just an awesome filmmaker and I have no doubt that albeit I'd miss the Japan aspect a bit, he would make awesome videos everywhere
But it’s sad that this channel has a collective of creators and a fraction of them follow this channel. I feel like it’s on the creators on their main channels to promote Tokyo creative
Subs don't really mean anything these days. Some people have millions of subs but only a few hundred views on their videos. Look at Tokyo creative, 225,000 subs but some videos get 25,000 views, what happened to the other 200,000 subscribers? Add to that some of the 25,000 views aren't even subs so the amount of loss from subs is even higher.
Oh Emma, yes yes YES to the animal crossing/rain sounds playlist! I also listen to that as a beautiful lofi background when I’m hard at work 😊 so relaxing and light!
Karaage kun from Lawson was my go to thing too. Used to get it after school everyday when I lived in Tokyo in the 80s and 90s. I heard they just recently increased the price them for the first time ever.
I love how even though I guessed fried chicken was Chris’s convenience store meal, I still feel that I got it wrong simply because I didn’t guess which KIND of fried chicken was his go to meal. >.
I feel like these two have cemented their time in Japan so much that it's the only thing a lot of the audience will see them as, Japan-centric RU-vidrs, so I believe that they will probably stay in Japan for quite the long time.
I’ve seen J or k bloggers quit a country and rebrand and do just fine. I know before the divorce, Simon and Martina rebranded from eat your kimchi to eat your sushi and it was pretty fun to follow.
Emma - GO SWEDEN!!! 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 I'm an Aussie and lived in Sweden for 2 years when I was in my 20's - Absolutely LOVED IT! I've also been to Japan and can guarantee you're in for a *very different* cultural experience. Recommendation if you do live in Sweden: Learn the Language. It's all to easy to speak English there as most people do, but you'll never really understand the culture until you learn the language...
How long ago was this? Im born and raised in Sweden, and I have to say that Sweden has really gone down the shitter since 2015. With high crime running rampant every day, economy is really bad, everything gets more and more expensive and more stuff that i dont wanna write here. I long for the day when i can leave this country behind
@@alaner1383 i am not wrong about this , even The most leftist newpapers like Aftonbladet reports every day of shootings, murder, rape,, drugs, abuse, stabbings and more, and then there were the riots that was over 4 days on the easter weekend. Again this was reported on the leftist newpapers, ALOT dont get included there.
White Wedding and City Pop from the 80s?! Count me in Chris! Its really hard to collect old japanese vinyls overseas. When the time comes and I ever visit japan, nobody gets a gift, because my luggage is going to be filled with city pop music from the 80s. :D
Changes over time. Today when you ride public transit everyone is isolated with their phone. What did we do on public transit in the 60's and 70's. Creepy as it sounds, you just stared straight ahead. No one cared of you stared at them for the full ride, they know both of you are in your own mind and did not really see the person in front of you. Superpower. To understand every culture I am visiting.
They will never leave, this is their bread and butter, anywhere else they would struggle to get the content and would be forced to take an average job.
Great video! Love both channels, love these two working together. 🙂 Keep up the good work, TC! Constructive feedback: The level on Chris's mic was INSANE. Could hear every sigh and mouth noise, haha.
I went up mount etna and it erupted 2wks before we went and 2wks after we had been..... And we climbed half way up. So that was a scary thought. Just smoldering buildings and wreckage..... Everywhere. Love the questions and answers. Great video
I don't understand why people are always so curious about when someone is going to leave the foreign country they're staying in... I just can't relate to the mindset of thinking that's important or believing someone belongs in one place over another.
Tatsuro Yamashita documentary would be awesome, but he'd probably have to cover his own songs or not have them played at all because labels won't allow use
I remember going back to Canada from Japan and watching this great video, called "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by some group called Nirvana. I told my friends they should watch it and they just looked at me.
Loved the Q&A, and was surprised to see my question used as well! Thank you for answering, and look forward to seeing what the both of you come up with next here and on your channels :)
This is the first video I've seen with the two of you where I didn't think you guys disliked each other lol any video I've seen with you two in it I always felt like you guys didn't get along too well lol glad to see I was wrong
Chris, you're so mean to Emma! Journey Across Japan should happen one day, with Emma along as a co-host. I think as where in Australia Emma is from, you should take her on a Journey Across Okinawa Prefecture.
