@@StrygwyrBS better future where's wemby at the playoffs? Chet is helping lead OKC to a 2nd round and sweep their opponents too. Holmgren will have immediate rings while victor is still at paris having vacation missing the playoffs yet again
I’m a thunder fan who only missed a couple games this season that just happened to be on nights that I was at pistons games (live in Michigan), and I watched the other 78 or so. You don’t watch enough Thunder if you don’t think there’s a good size gap between him and wemby. Chet projects somewhere between all star and superstar, for sure gonna be one of the best players in the league for a long time. It’s almost unfair to say just because it’s unfair to put that type of pressure and expectations on him, but wemby is the first player since lebron with legitimate goat potential. Guy is a freak in basically every way and the mentality and passion to go with it. Chet’s a dog and gonna be a star for sure, but his ceiling is a superstar, not goat.
Goat?? lol man are yall care about is individual stats, wemby gonna win 6 rings?? Or put up stats that’s inflated in this era of basketball and that’s your argument that’s he’s a goat?? You forgot about the other guys in the league I guess.?
@@THUNDER-dp6ct bro chet and Wemby both should be all stars next year... Realistically wemby should have this year, but mind you neither will start over joker, one will start next and one will be a bench, but both should be all star games next year
I don’t think we need to put these two players at odds with each other in every conversation. It’s okay to talk about them both without needing to say one is “better” than the other. Two great rookie seasons. Different teams, different records. I’m excited to see how they both can succeed in the future.
Y'all some weirdo's still comparing the two. They're both great players, but just give it a rest, there hasn't been an argument since like December but damn can we just give chet his flowers without mentioning wemby
Thank you lmfao can Chet just fucking live goddamn. Chet fans can't breathe without some lame ass Victor fanboys running up OH YOU THINK CHETS BETTER. no mother fucker I just want to enjoy Chet goddamn
Are we forgetting the fact that when Wemby vs Chet, Wemby has outplayed in him every game. Chet has 2-3 players help him guard Wemby, while Wemby never gets a double team to help vs Chet and Chet still cant score. Chet has MVP caliber guard on the team to help create shots for him so comparing % is dumb since he has someone to take the attention from him. While Wemby gets double and tripled team on a nightly basis with no playmakers and still shots efficient as a 20ppg scorer while playing elite defense.
last time they played against each other, Chet score about 15+ i believe it cvouldve even been 20+ all on Wemby through 3 quaters on only about 11 shots. Wemby had about 9-12 points and than exploded in the 4th with many threes to get them the win, i wouldnt call that out playing. Also second time they played they both played abysmal so your recollection is substituting one game for all of them when thats not the case.
Chet is more like KD, Wembanyama like Giannis. Though they can both shoot, they’re both good, but yea of course wembanyama will be better. He’s longer no homo.
@@plebtile3347 that's cool.. but in 2 more years the spurs will be a championship contender because Wemby will be a mvp candidate. I'm sure Wemby will talk about to tough times during one of his 4 mvp speeches.
Wemby is averaging that stat without a point guard, and with minutes restrictions. They are not in the same level bro. There is no comparison between them. Put wemby in the OKC, and they be will be like 2x better.
Chet is easily having the second best rookie season since Jason Tatum. The only better rookie is wemby. Chet’s scoring is lower since he’s on a contender? Wemby would obviously be better than Chet but wemby would have stats similar to Chet on the thunder rn
where's wemby at the playoffs? Chet is helping lead OKC to a 2nd round and sweep their opponents too. Holmgren will have immediate rings while victor is still at paris having vacation missing the playoffs yet again
If Chet was on the wizards, we all agree that he'll have the same stats minutes played and usage rate plus touches per game as victor if he had his own team to be the get go star/#1 option
@@slender289NBA made Zion sit out or OKC wouldn’t beat N.O They have nobody for Zion . That’s like N.O playing OKC with Zion , while OKC didn’t have Shai. OKC would get swept
Chet has played some game this year without SGA and he didn’t exactly light it up. He couldn’t do what wemby did if he had to try and carry a bad team. And that doesn’t even speak to how wemby lapped the entire league in blocks and stocks. Or head to head when wemby outplayed him multiple times
Chet was the last piece to OKC blueprint for the title. Wemby is the first piece to a complete new project with Spurs. Sure, Chet delivers and he's up to the expectation, but it's like he came home, meals ready and sleepers awaiting him in front of the TV. Everything was here for him to express his talent. In stat, he's not that far from Victor ... but I'm afraid if we put Chet in Pistons or Wizard, the guy completely disappear from our radar.
Mike, please don't do the LeBron James shilling. He didn't say squat in that clip, JJ Reddick introduced the idea and characterized it and all Bron did was say yep, changes everything... that whole J J show thing was clearly intended to make him look insightful somehow and you just perpetuated it.
LeBron said chet changes the dynamic of everything, which is true. That’s why SGA had his highest FG percentage and 2 pt percentage of his career this year. Same with jalen Williams because chet has transformed the team with his play style. It’s obvious. LeBron isn’t trying to look like some messiah just by stating the obvious… you just can’t stand LeBron clearly, so you get in a tizzy after this clip thinking the whole idea of the JJ/LeBron pod is to make LeBron look insightful… just say you hate him and move along lol it’s just too obvious
Nah, Mike, you can't compare chet and Wemby like that just because OKC is winning a lot. Yes Chet is an important part but OKC's wins and improvement this year are mostly because of Shai playing like an MVP, and also the improvement of Jalen Williams, while playing for the coach of the year. Wemby had a terrible team around him, he had to carry them and do everything for them, so his shots are going to be less efficient of course.
@@InfiniteCoreXDthis have limitless assets they could basically buy a championship they are going to win a chip whether you like it or not so keep crying
@@Kushagra.jbuilding super teams don’t work anymore bud you gotta build through the draft to be successful look at the warriors and nuggets and now it’s OKC
When you play OKC, who do you game plan around? 100% SGA, maybe JDub, possibly Chet. When you game plan against the Spurs, it’s Wemby. So yes Chet’s efficiency and usage will reflect that. Something to consider, how do you think OKC would have done if those players were switch? You think the Spurs would have done better? Nope.
Why do ppl try to pit these dudes together, first Chet isn’t a rookie when he was in the lead of Roty now Wemby owns him?? Man just lets these dudes play there careers out
I respect the hell outta Chet but the argument that Wemby has better stats because he had more freedom is such a weak argument especially when you consider that Wemby was double teamed and even triple teamed like crazy all season long. Look at Chet's numbers when Shai missed games, all of his numbers tanked bad and he couldn't get those wide open shots anymore. Meanwhile towards the end of year after Sochan and Vassell went down for good leaving Wemby to finish out the last few games with literal G-leaguers and 10 day contract players. Wemby's minutes and stats all across the board went up and the Spurs finished off their season with impressive wins vs Knicks, Warriors, Pelicans, and a Nuggets team that was fighting hard to claim the 1 seed.
I don’t think Chet is a generational talent and I don’t think Paolo is either but this video should be about him he’s the number 1 on a team already in the playoffs as a 2nd year all star Chet is really good but it’s ridiculous he over Shadows someone who’s been better there was a reason Chet wasn’t the 1st pick
OKC was built already to need only 1 more piece, and that was exactly Chet. It's all about FIT. Numbers are apples and oranges. You can never truly know how they'd compare if they swapped teams. Later in season Wemby's offensive and defensive growth revealed he is ready to be #1 option on a team. So now they have to build it around him. You cannot compare Chet and Wemby until both have chance to play on a fully built team. My bet, Chet will prove to only be a #3 option at best on contender (as is now). Whereas Wemby can and will contend as #1 option.
The piece isn't Chet. Well not according to OKC. If it was Chet they'd allow him more chances to create shots. The last 2 months all he's done is sit in the corner and defend the rim.
It’s not that no one cares. It’s that HES NOT A ROOKIE!!!! He was payed last year wasnt he? He sat on the bench, attended games, sat and learned from the sidelines and was actively “inactive” with the team as they watched tape and read scouting reports didn’t he? He had his shot to be a rookie and didn’t get a chance to win rookie of the year. There’s no mulligan, no do-over. He was hurt ok oh well too bad that was your chance. How about getting a championship ring as a consolation prize? Shit. I’d rather him be an NBA champion instead of this desperate attempt to redo his rookie year. Let Wembanyama have his awards. The nba just wants to take him out of the spotlight because he’s a spur.
You can’t compare Wembys situation to chets. Imagine if wemby came into the spurs with a young manu and tony. That’s what Chet came into. Wemby came into lebrons cavs
@@partywitmarty so the fact he has a team who can’t take pressure off him or a true pg to run the offense makes his stats somehow less impressive? Your lost
@@danteguidry9598 Chet was injured all last season, Wemby played 71 games for his first season, the ones he missed, just like the last game, it was out of precaution ...
@@soulbrotherali Last two Wemby missed were just the Spurs trying to tank to hold onto the third worst record for draft position. But Wemby screwed that plan up when he took down the Knicks and Nuggets in the final few games lol.
The reason Chet's getting disrespected is because it goes against the Wemby narrative. People can't stand that Wemby isn't the ultimate goat of all time.
Chet is great, but Wemby is absolutely generational. Chet plays his role well and he’s on a really elite team, a roster full of upside. Wemby is surrounded by young players who seemingly are peaking and he has no true point and he’s averaging almost a quadruple double and is looking like the DPOY in his first season, Wemby on a different planet and Chet has nothing on him. Nobody overlooking Chet, but hes not Wemby.
chet is a piece in a good team. Wemby is THE piece in a bad team. Chet has MVP candidate shai-gorgeous-alexander with him to create shots for him. Wemby has sochan for half the season. You can't compare.
I don't think they underestimate it, I think that when they go to see the teams and look at their numbers they are impressed because they are impressive numbers but once you look at that you realize that in the same team you have a teammate who averages 30 per game and I think that's why they don't give him the weight he deserves. you look at San Antonio and next to Wemby there is absolutely no one. Be thankful that it came about that way because if it had been the other way around and Wemby was the one in OKC no one would be there talking about Chet. I think he has the merit he deserves, but you also have to look at his team. If I didn't have an MVP finalist next to and 1 of I think he has the merit he deserves, but you also have to look at his team. If I didn't have a finalist to the MVP next door and 1 of the Players who have improved the most this year, putting numbers close to an All Star, his numbers wouldn't be as effective either, in my opinion.
He will be around for a while even if he’s lurking in the shadow of Wemby. He’s surrounded by young talent; if they stick together unlike the last big three from OKC. Team basketball here will lead them to great success.
Chet will be the best white ballplayer ever to live when he is done, cause of his abilities and work ethic. Wemby is already the best French player ever to live, no parker was no Wemby. Wemby needs a team around him to see if he can win, Chet has that team and is already winning. They have a chance to be this generations version of Bird Magic. Ultimately injuries and the teams around them will determine how far they go and where we rank them ampung the greats. Plus there will be more like them in the next decade and a half and it will change the NBA.
Let's drop a generational talent into a team that's almost ready against a generational talent in a team that's no where near ready, is basically what's happened here, Chet wouldn't be anywhere near where he is with OKC
@@amirigordon7230 it most definitely does matter. You trying to compare to someone that’s not on the floor as much. His numbers would look a lot different if he played more. Constantly worrying about when you’re gonna get pulled out the game matters too buddy
wemby vs Chet could be a remix of wilt vs Russell. One more dominant alone and the other more successful on a better team. One more stats and the other more wins. One more dominant on offense and the other more dominant on defense. Too bad they probably play in the same conference for the foreseeable future so they’ll not meet in the finals for another decade or so probably
The NBA need to change this shit. if the 7th seed team don't want to face their opponent for the playoffs, their superstars sit out etc. They need to Make Season Trophy like SEASON CHAMPION and then put all those qualified seeding teams in a ball like soccer and spin the ball to see who's going to play who. It's all the same every year since forever. Play-in games are more competitive than Season game because there is no SEASON trophy even for the No1 seeded Teams. Let them have a relegation system where bottom teams relegate and then Top G-League teams on NBA to compete in the season so that the NBA will be more diverse and more competitive even for the bottom teams. It's way too individual/celeb type game now when it's too repetitive.
I just don't understand the average fans logic with choosing one or the other and either assuming the other is trash or thinking that one is better than the other in every way. Like can't we just enjoy both? Ignoring my OKC bias I love Wemby and Chet and wish nothing but the best for both of em and my GOD are they fun to watch
thank you so much for this video. you’ve been taking words i’ve been saying straight out of my mouth. the Wemby glazing has been getting way out of hand
It’s just crazy how much the league has changed in the last few years. People like SGA, ant, Wemby, Brunson, Luka. These dudes are completely changing the whole dynamic of the NBA.
Okay, Mike. If I'm the Thunder GM, I'm doing 2 things in this draft. 1. I'm taking Zach Edey. Hes the only safe pick. In bad drafts, OKC shines in finding a serviceable guy every time. This is a garbage fire draft. I only avoid taking Zach if he's not there past 4. I'm not trading into the top 3 here. 2. I'm trading out after I get Zach. I want 2 lottery picks next year. Check that. I'm taking Bronny way too high then fleecing the LeLakers for whatever i can get. Then I'm trading out. All OKC needs is a space eater. Thats Edey. Think about it: on offense I have a MVP in SGA. I have 2 excellent shooters around him. I have Gumby(Chet) running around like a squirrel on meth. I put Zach in the middle. He becomes my release valve. Pound it in, pass it to the open man. Between the two monsters and the Williams boys, i get a lot of redos. On defense, its not fair. I have 4 good perimeter defenders and 2 elite shot blockers. Im playing 6 on 5 because of Chet. All outside shots are contested and you never get an offensive rebound again. All inside shots are pointless. I put Chet, Zach and JWil(Arkansas) down low and you never get a shot inside 5ft again.
Chets efficiency is better because he wasn’t forcing shots up like wemby was. Wemby needed 40 to win a game Chet needs to play good team basketball to win a game. It’s not the same
@@mikieedwards7380 yeah i agree, that's too. especially that wemby nobody passes the ball to him, so he is forced to make tough shots by himself. not like the team ball of The thunder.
In a way, Chets injury +Wemby is the best thing to happen to Chet in the sense of its allowed him to focus on his game only and stay lowkey and not have to deal with the pressure most others would in his situation
Why did he mention stats that are based on the team rather than the specific player. He had more open looks because the thunder have way more talent. When your open you make more shots. Defence is great because their are multiple elite defenders on the team, where Wemby is pretty alone when it comes to elite defender teammates. Yet when wembys on the floor he’s a + player
Good explanation. Though hard to have a real good objective comparison, as some bros pointed out, it seems Chet is a very good team player and play his role and not go for the stats & spot light. For Wemby, he's in the right place as Pop is the best chance & person to mold him.
OKC can become the 60s Celtics & Wembanyama can become Chamberlain. Chet is Kevin Durant if he didn’t wanna play SG and played his natural 7ft heighted position
Crazy... i was just talking to a coworker about chet not being on the Olympic team. They should've put him on the roster to not only learn but to help compete against others bigs. While he isnt a powerhouse his length is something you cant teach.
Of course Chet would be much efficient considering he had an All-star pointguard and with more help. Put Wemby in OKC this season and they will definitely win it all.
I never appreciated Chet and I overlooked him because of Wemby, but now, Mike opened my eyes that even if Chet may not be as good as Wemby, he is still a really good player and possibly a future superstar
All the San Antonio offense runs through Wemby, on the other hand Chet is the third scoring option for OKC but his presence took OKC from just missing the playoffs last year to being the top seed in the west where as San Antonio has 22 wins two years in a row with and without Wemby ....i would think that anyone worthy of ROTY should at least improve the teams win percentage 🤷
Wemby is not expected to score 75% of attempts. They just started passing the ball to Wemby when they moved Sochan to the power forward position and put Tre Jones in the lineup. Stop creatibg reasons in your mind to rationalize the premise of Chet being generational like Wemby he isn't. Chet is a good rookie, Wemby is. The last player to average 20ppg 10rebs 3blks was Shaq in 2000.🤯👽
The funny thing is that while it's obvious why Wemby and Chet get compared so much, their games are actually a bit different and I think they would synergize if ever on the same team.
Boricua Hispanic India n black iam.. I have a card with chet Shai n Jalen dort arron Joe, I like okc , my favorite team was the bulls Jordan n pippen n Rodman. That trio was great. Many team in the 90 was great. Karl Malone n John Stockton they went to the final . Tim Duncan n David Robinson, the dream of a players is to have a championship ring. Shaq have 4 . This year the Boston will be champion again. Boston have a great players n they keep the same players, year ago they went to the playoffs many times but this year they make it. Okc will become a champion team. 😮
Here is the reason ..OKC offense is primary run thru SGA not Chet. Chet is good and can ball no doubt but their main facilitator is Shai. While on the spurs offense it’s ran thru Wemby him and Vassell are the only ones who can provide plenty of offense which they are good but they have no good PG which OKC does
You can literally say the same thing about Paolo banchero his rookie year numbers were comparable to lebrons rookie year and took Orlando from a lottery team to a legit playoff team in year 2 just had a great game vs Cleveland and nobody gives a damn and I'm not even a magic fan!
People forget that with chet sitting out his first year, OKC had an extra (redshirt) year behind the scenes to plan how to best utilize chet's strengths and skillsets. Chet is amazing but not a true rookie. Also when was the last time he was double teamed or the main focus of the offense? Doubling him also means open shot for SGA or JWill (themselves in the running for other hardware), meanwhile wemby has been triple teamed just for hopeless spurs to burp up bricks.
