We love going to this old Ghost town and with so many mining relics and buildings here then you have to think they still have attachments to them. If you have been here or have a personal story about this place, we would love to hear about it in the comments sections and don't forget to smash that like button.

The truck with 2 engines connected was a compressor. The one engine was standard internal combustion, the other was setup to pump air. Years ago I worked on a V-8 Ford 302ci, where half was a 4 cly gas and the other 4 clys was setup as a compressor.. Thanks Jeff

Well said, he's the second smartest person on RU-vid. Right next to Neil Degrass Tyson. Ive been talking to my wife about signing up for one of his gold tours! He's got me hooked. Wow! @ 2:16 , the top left picture in the top row looks like a squaw dressed in Indian garb and painted face with her left eye painted with a black circle. The spirit has distorted the children's heads in front of her and blocked 🚫 out the head of the kid to her left. Definitely a ghost. Incredible!

I’m giving away my age but you are the only one besides me that I’ve heard mention buck Rodgers in 30 yrs. lol The double ended engine contraption most likely was a homemade air compressor. One engine ran while connected to the other, spinning it to compress air. If there had been a pulley mounted between the two trans output shafts, it could have been used as a power unit to drive a leather belt to run whatever they needed to run..Enjoy your sense of humor Jeff and the knowledge you share. Just looking at the massive amount of work these miners did to get some au, not to mention the ones that didn’t find much more than a roving band of Natives looking to deal out some kharma, there has to be attachments all over the west my good man. Thanks for all you and Mrs. Jeff do, you guys are ausome

too cool of a place. i have seen old videos/pictures of machinery like that up in remote as heck mines. just imagine hauling all that up there piece by piece. i would imagine the mine owners either knew they were on a huge find or hoping, to invest in such equipment. just amazing history.. most all they used were designed for a certain purpose. even with all that equipment, i bet it was still back breaking work.

You should see the ghost town of Shaniko, Oregon it's complete and it's a blast from the past straight out of the 1800s if you go down from Biggs Oregon off of I-84 freeway it's pretty much a straight shot to get there

Regarding the old gas tank. We used to go camping near Nelson BC every summer. We went on a day trip to Trout Lake, an old silver mining community with a 100 year old hotel that I wanted to see. A nice surprise, however, was a gas station with a working gas pump just like that. Of course we had to top off the gas while we were there!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that those old gas pumps with the glass "bulb" or tube at the top are called "visible pumps," and were created because there was a problem with gas stations not actually pumping the correct amount of gas into a tank, or not pumping anything at all. So because of that, gas stations developed a really bad reputation as being run by thieves, so they created this pump to show exactly how much is being pumped into the tank and that it was good, clean fuel. No more funny business and confidence in fuel stations was restored, for the most part. Again, I could be wrong or it could be an old wives tale, but that's what I remember hearing a while ago from some guys who are very smart and know more than the average bear, when it comes to historical items.

I can’t wait to get out there all my family is from Tonopah Pahrump Reno areas. In Pahrump the VFW Carrie’s my great uncles sons name the Clyde E Newman vfw. All the Newman boys all 6 of them were miners and Clyde Sr ran the bus line from Tonopah to Pahrump and to the base where 2 of the brothers worked digging rocket test tunnels in the side of the mountain. I’ve often wondered if Nevada Jack knew any of them. Anyway as always live the videos thanks for keeping us entertained and educated on the history out there. PS I’ll send you a bunch of cool old mine photos and town photos from the 30-60s.

Me and a couple buddies were exploring a mine in Nelson’s and he got one of those stuck in his calf. I started laughing at him because of it. Next thing I know I have one stuck in my calf! (Wasn’t so funny then lol) went and bought my snake boots the next day to prevent it from happening again. Also we call those “murder bushes” and snakes are “murder worms” haha

Hey Jeff!! I would love a video on what your dream claim would be. How would you set up to work, ideal price, topology, region, ect. And more videos about the stories and myths of prospecting. Lost gold, or huge nuggets, stories of people going from rags to riches. And a video of your total gold/mineral collection. Anyways, love your content, cant wait to see the next video. You are a great teacher. Good luck out there!
